  1. when you get to your cabin, there should be a card with 4 tabs. one of the tabs indicate a free dinner and bottle of wine. this is for either le bistro or cagney's. im not sure if this includes all latitude levels, but if you log on to your site, and check latitude benefits, it will show you .it also indicates a free bag of laundry (depending on latitude status) if you happen to do a back to back, the card will be issued on both, and you can end up with an additional bottle. also, it is not necessary to open the bottle at your dinner. you can take it back to your cabin and enjoy it later on. we usually just wrap them up and take them home. hope this clarifies for you.
  2. in the past, i would have said Cagney's, no question. teppanyaki has been a disappointment the last few times we went there, especially since they stopped filet and added new york ( i think you can get the new york steak daily at either of the mdr's. for what it's worth, go to le bistro instead of either of the other 2. i dont think you will be disappointed, and you get a free bottle of wine
  3. we live in los angeles. british airways has a some great non stop flights to lhr. recently (july 25th) we flew into heathrow. arrived 10:00am on the 26th. ship sailed on the 27th. we booked a hotel close by, spent the day in london, saw a play at west end. Prior to leaving home, we booked a shuttle service to drive us directly to southampton. he was waiting at our hotel entrance at the requested time (9:30), and all went off without a hitch. we did the same in 2022, but spent a few more days in london prior to sailing by the way, we got a great fare going business class to london and premium economy flying back home
  4. i stand corrected. please disregard the last sentence in my prior post
  5. we got off the dawn on aug 15th after b2b 19 days from southampton to copenhagen, copenhagen to stockholm. you have nothing to worry about, it's a fine ship. maybe without the bells and whistles of the newer, bigger ships, but personally i sail for the itinerary and the price, We were in the 2 bedroom suite, and all was fine. the entire staff couldnt have been any nicer or more accommodating.to our needs. our steward (jonah) was amazing, the butler (alan) was top notch. one night in the mdr, they had a greek salad that was great. the next night i asked this lovely lady (elizabeth) if they could make me another one, and the few times we went back to the mdr (remember this was a 19 at cruise) she made us a greek salad. so, as they say in the old country "not to worry", and remember any vacation is what you make it, regardless of land or sea.
  6. i dont want to interfere, but we've been on the dawn a few times (just got off a b2b on her), but maybe youre confusing the ships again. Dawn doesnt have a "sunset veranda cabin". On the dawn, some 2 bedroom suites get named after precious gems, but thats the extent of it. what we usually do at most ports is hire a taxi. collectively, they seen to charge much less than a shore excursion. for the exception, im planning to take the excursions offered for alexandria and port said. my bucket list has always included the pyramids, and the sphinx. also, i dont think the "2" digit in the 3rd spot appears on any ncl cabin ( i could be wrong,, however)
  7. hey, mcarab1, better check the itinerary. we're on the b2k venice to athens, athens to (and here's where you better check), the final port for this cruise is tel aviv, not istanbul
  8. imho, (and ive sailed on the epic twice) it's features (good or bad) are about the same as any other ship in the ncl fleet other than the newer ones. its all a matter of perspective, and we've sailed on almost all of the ncl fleet (again, except the newer ones i would have no qualms about sailing on her again,
  9. i have for many years, until he was to old to attend. this was all the way thru to the entourage program and started enrolling him when he was 11. my grandson had a great time, made friends with people he still has contact with (he's 24) and its a great way for an 8 year old to enjoy the cruise. it's the very 1st thing we did after getting settled on board.
  10. that's cause youre such a likable old cuss. i usually get our tags in the mail, and dont affix them until im at the port. also, i suggest if youre going to print them off your computer, use hard stock paper, and bring along a small stapler. imho, this prevents them from being torn off while in transit
  11. mcaraba1. to each his own (i guess) but how can you not be interested in the Egyptian ports? seeing the great pyramids and the sphinx as well as cruising down the Nile has always been on my bucket list. I don't understand how someone can go to Jerusalem and forego Egypt when they're so close. personally, I think you're doing yourself a major disservice, but again, that's just MHO regardless, which ever cruise you finally choose, have a great time, and Bon Voyage!
  12. hey bro, where you been? i havent posted much lately, as a lot of questions are asking about current upgrades. in any event, in the past, if a sticker was needed, ncl usually put it on the back of your passport. good to have you back.
  13. we were on the dawn it was on their mdr menu also. personally, i figure if a i want a steak at from cagney's, i'll go there instead
  14. we're booked on the b2b dawn. trieste to athens, athens to tel aviv. each leg is 10 days next oct 2024 the getaway has always been one of my favorite ships, but due to the itineraries on the dawn i chose her. by the way, the ruins at ephesus are amazing. dawn disembarks in tel aviv,, but we intend to spend a few days in jerusalem. also trying to arrange any type of bus tour into jordan so we can possibly see petra. also flying into venice a few days prior to sailing
  15. got off the dawn b2b last week. on both legs, the station was stardust theater, and we just walked past. gave the attendant the key card to swipe and we were done!
  16. after 13 years and 25 ncl cruises, and almost all of their fleet, im very, very satisfied with ncl and the product they offer. i think ncl gives you the best bang for your buck, pricewise and itinerary choices. just got off b2b 19 days on the dawn
  17. hey, colorado ken. dont throw shade at me. i am now diamond status, and if the highest cabin i can upgrade to is the club balcony, for me and my travel companions the diamond status makes no difference. im not about to book a balcony cabin so i can upgrade 1 time to a club suite. if you feel that this type of benefit is worth it to you go for it. i personally prefer the perks that come with a suite or a haven. if ncl allowed an upgrade from a club to a suite that would be fine with me. by the way, being a lawyer for 30 years was quite fulfilling. i wasnt trying to flaunt my profession, social status or wealth. try a suite one time and tell me you disagree. , i have over 2000 posts on cc, we've been on most of the ncl fleet, over 25 nclcruises under my belt, and i believe i am qualified to comment on a great many questions posed by the readers
  18. we flew them this past january, non stop l.a. to panama and back, red eye, reasonable price, no problems. i would definitely book them again if necessary
  19. usually, ncl insists that both people in the cabin take the beverage package. so it wouldnt hurt to give then a call. if that fails, here's a thought: unless your husband is a heavy drinker, and/or plans to go hog wild with the daily drinking, why dont you BOTH cancel the package? (1) thereby saving about $600 and (2) just have your husband pay as you go for his drinks. sometimes it works out a little cheaper that way. i have personally thought about it, my wife is not a major drinker, and with the package, i tend to drink more than i normally would.
  20. give it a day or so, it should fix itself.
  21. if you keep track of cabin pricing, you will notice that regardless of how ncl labels it's "sales" the actual cabin price varies little
  22. regardless of the ncl ship, cagney's wins hands down, followed closely by le bistro. teppanyaki was right up there with them until they changed from filet to n,y steak. also if youre real, real hungry, go to moderno. the pineapple for dessert is to die for! i think you'll enjoy any of the specialty restaurants. some people rave about la cucina, but to me its just meh. i also understand there is a mexican restaurant onboard the dawn that we're going to try. sailing next thurs
  23. as for someone else using a kindle. if you want to but a book, you MUST log into your amazon account with your email address and password. so unless the other person is happy using the books youve already bought, they aint gettin no more
  24. if the ship leaves at 10 p.m. all that is really required is that youre on board 2 hrs prior to departure if youre going solo, i think your best bet is to book the ncl shuttle. even if you dont care about the other stuff, youre arriving in athens on the day of sailing, and even if you do nothing but crash inyour cabin, woudnt you be much more comfortable just chilling out on board? im assuming youre on a red eye?
