  1. never saw anything like this and i have over 3k posts. usually, once i hit submit, it shows up almost immediately
  2. i believe that most of the cabin walls (at least on ncl ships) are all metal, so bring magnetic hooks to your hearts content
  3. it all depends on what category cabin you want, and where you want to go. i found a 14 day cruise from iceland to southampton on the star this oct, and a penthouse suite is 7500. i dont think that's outrageous for a 2 week cruise, obviously, the price goes down for a lessor category cabin/ we're booked on a b2b 10 day each segment next oct from venice to athens, athens to tel aviv. total costs for club balcony is about $11,000 . i dont think that's excessive for 2 people for 20 days, when you factor in the food, beverage package, and (IMHO) the itinerary is amazing!
  4. no problem, as soon as you are comfortably on board, go to either guest services, usually on the 1st day, there is someone taking reservations for all, or call the restaurant and cancel. sometimes there are also people out side the pool, or in the buffet who perform the same function
  5. hey chief. where you been lately? i feel like i lost my best pal (LOL) and by the way, isnt wassup just as annoying. btw, in the past cc has frowned about people making comments on other posters grammer, such as your, you're, there, they're their
  6. as as aside, hey chiefmatejrk, where you hiding out these days?
  7. keep checking airline fares. they go up and go down. we're on the b2b awn on july 27th, and got a nonstop direct flight from los angeles to london heatrow, business class at 1300 per person . thinking about iceland in sept, round trip l.a. to reykjavik london to los angeles is $ 2100 per couple, delta comfort. i never tell anyone how to spend their money, but ncl travels to some of the most beautiful cities in the world, and i think youre doing yourself a disservice by not checking it out.
  8. if the cruise is more than 120 days out, book what you want. you can then look up your cruise, under explore and plan, and it will give you (if available) the shore excursions and prices .if to costly, or not to your liking, (again if more than120 days out), simply cancel the booking. while normally at european ports we usually hire a can, i would be cautious about about booking a private tour, especially if there are women in your group. Mid east is know known for its openness to women.
  9. cagneys, moderno, le bistro, la cucina. you get to choose 2 of the 4 specialty restaurants bpttle of wine with cagneys and le bisrto
  10. the only crab legs ive ever seen on any ncl cruise we've taken (25) is a little old lady complaining her tea is to hot (lol)
  11. sorry, no more illusionarium. hasnt been there for a few years. this is one of (IMHO) ncl's big, big mistakes, it was a great show.
  12. 3tink3, yeah and this has been going on for weeks. i cant even look at chore excursions for a cruise booked in oct 2024
  13. we stayed at the athens marriott last year. very nice hotel, especially if you book the rooms with the concierge. also, if you go in early, the hilton doubletree in trieste is a beautiful hotel, and short ride to the pier
  14. we have four cruises booked on the ncl dawn starting this july and running through oct 2024, for the past few weeks, whenever i try and look at shore excursions, i get a message that i needto log out and ty again later. my wife has a separate account, and so does my friend who travels with us. they all say the samething . anyoe know what gives, its frustrating as hell, as our 1st cruise leaves on july 27th.
  15. the money gets credited back to the original type of payment with a few days at best. if youre really planning to cancel, best do it asap
  16. hey, amygutman and hamrag. check out the dawn b2b from venice to athens, athens to tel aviv. starting oct 17,2024, we're booked on the 2 cruises. been to telaviv and jerualem on a cruise last year on the down side, i slipped on the steps from the wailing wall and broke 3 ribs. put a real damper on the rest of the cruise. i couldnt get to fully enjoy istanbul, we loved venice, and i want to spend a few days in jerusalem. so we're off again. by the way, in answer to the original question, we've sailed the dawn before, and have no qualms about sailing her again. im happy on any ncl ship that we've been on (25 total)
  17. we did this opposite last year. we flew into venice a few days early (marvelous city) booked a shuttle to trieste the day before embarkation. stayed a a lovely hotel, and the next morning there was a shuttle bus to take us directly to the dock. the ship disembarked in rome, so we stayed a few extra days there and flew back to l.a.
  18. they are both open to only passengers sailing in a suite. you cannot get in even if you wish to pay for the meal. usually breakfast in moderno, and lunch in cagneys. by the way, the menus for both have not changed in years. if youre booked into a suite, you'll get priority boarding, and be taken directly to cagneys for lunch. i can just sit down and without even looking at the menu, know what's avaailaable.
  19. my 1st ncl cruise was on he pearl to alaska in 2010. we were in what was then referred to as a mini suite. i think you'll have a great time regardless of the ship. since then we've been most of their line. havent been on the breakaway, joy, escape, encore , or prima -visa- i freely admitted that prima has priced me out of the market. ive posted before, i sail for the itinerary, not the specific ship. i would not hesitate to sail the pearl again if she was going to where i wanted to sail
  20. the $50 only applies to the 1st guest, regardless. the only way the other person gets it, is if they book their own cabin.
  21. if you've been reprimanded as many times as i have for what i thought were honest posts, you wouldnt take the chance. on the chance you are correct, it was the hilton doubletree. if the op has to stay in venice overnight, last year we were inthe a.c. marriott, also very nice accomodations. if i get censored for this post, im holding you personally responsible (LOL)_
  22. yeah, any 2 trees would do, but i have run afoul of cc censors on posts i thought were rather harmless, but you never know what they'll censor. i didnt think cruise ships were allowed to dock in venice (proper) any more. if so, make plans to get off the ship ASAP !, other wise you're cutting it close
