  1. You’re a bit premature - it’s only the 28th of June here in Canada 🇨🇦 right now Looking forward to seeing how they celebrate it versus our Australia Day - we’ll be in Quebec City on a Viking cruise on Saturday - hopefully they do fireworks
  2. Correct - for those who don’t understand why that is - the ships weren’t owned by Crystal and there were banks and institutions with secured debts against those ships - they will get those sale proceeds and ex Crystal customers will not see 1 cent from the ships sale I haven’t heard that video as I can’t stream at the moment but if what you say is correct then it is very disappointing to hear that being claimed when it is patently incorrect Ive seen the FB version of the clip and couldn’t see any reference to who they paid and whether customers would benefit - maybe it’s mentioned in tne other version?
  3. Hmmm - I don’t recall you making any of those statements back when it was happening, I must have missed those posts… I’ll let you get back to packing now - I think laundries have been beaten to death until we see what NC offer with their industry leading customer laundries
  4. So let me check I have your statement or belief correct It’s all Gentings fault and no one at old Crystal Cruises contributed to the failure? Is that the same Genting who funded the launch and build/acquisition of the river fleet, the same one that funded the refurbishment to somewhat modernise the two ocean ships so they could remain competitive while other lines were launching new ships? Is it the same one who funded and built the Endeavor expedition ship hailed as the most expensive expedition ship ever built? All investments in Crystal to try and be successful and celebrated by many of their guests at the time Sure Genting stuffed up by acquiring a shipyard in Germany - but then along came Covid and shut down cruising - what debt did the big cruise companies Carnival, RCL and Norwegian take on to get through the crisis and they will have to recover from that for many years to come - would little old Crystal have been able to fund that period without parental support and resume sailing? (I very much doubt it) But yes go on and hold Genting responsible for the whole thing if that’s what satisfies your desire to maintain old Crystal could do no wrong…
  5. Good that you believe that to be the case but unproven and therefore disputable - so yes consider it disputed (sorry if took me so long) The fact is that Crystal had many creditors that far exceeded their assets and cash on hand - some of those creditors had launched proceedings against Crystal to recover those debts - they couldn’t and joined the rest of the failed group. They were not sold as a going concern and left many creditors out of pocket to this day. Some of the assets, ocean ships and brand were purchased by Heritage/A&K Saying something on a forum without any real knowledge of the circumstances doesn’t make it true and correct
  6. Well I decided I’d better find out all about the experience of doing laundry and went to our laundry room today (one room with 4 washer/dryers per floor of cabins) and wow some lines do actually provide a couch for those who want to sit in the room watching their laundry do it’s thing - fancy that We had no trouble getting a machine at 10am - all 4 on our floor were available I wonder if NC will stump up for couches in there best in class (according to some) laundry rooms?
  7. I can’t wait to get onboard and savour the laundry rooms - I wonder if I can order room service delivery to my favourite laundry room? Ah the smell of laundry detergent in the morning My bags are unpacked and I’m cruising - my view from the St Lawrence seaway right now
  8. I can’t wait to get onboard and savour the laundry rooms - I wonder if I can order room service delivery to my favourite laundry room?
  9. They have it right on Neptunes list though - I suspect it’s the person preparing the list rather than the Buyer - maybe the head sommelier?
  10. No it’s meant as an open question about the laundry rooms on Regent - who does care? So do you care?
  11. Who really cares? - I’ve never visited the laundry rooms on Regent as they include free laundry as part of their standard fare
  12. Yes - but as they’ve now reopened things like the pools and declared the Noro outbreak over the free laundry offer has ended and the self service laundries are operating again
  13. I don’t recall saying they were exclusive to the Silver package guests - just that they were available onboard as most, but not all, fall within the price limit of the package
  14. Here you go John - the 2019 Crystal Society Milestones Crystal Society Benefits Aug 2019.pdf
  15. Thanks for confirming what I’d already posted in post 29 above - it’s very reassuring to know you agree with me I’m surprised you needed to contact Crystal to confirm how many cruise milestones you had with them - oh well no matter and glad you know now
  16. They do have the record of your number of Crystal Cruises and they will recognise future milestones that you achieve on NC - but in your example they say they don’t know who had taken what earned awards - so they will only award new awards going forward to the milestones achieved under NC - so sadly your 20th “free cruise” won’t be available Note under the latest version of the Society Awards from OC they changed the free cruise award to a dollar amount as opposed to a cruise
  17. For those who prefer spirits etc over wine here’s the list from Viking Neptune right now - more than adequate selection available to us with the Silver drinks package
  18. Semantics - I think we’re all adults and know what people mean Perhaps someone who is worried about such things should publish a list pf acceptable terms and their meaning? You know we just can’t have people being lose with their terminology can we otherwise you might get a lack of clarity
  19. I still bet you don’t do it the way your wife requires it to be done 😂😂. I get sick of doing things and then having my wife redo it eg re-sort the clothes or restock the dish washer - my response do it yourself - your way - then…. I can’t believe this discussion about who prefer to do their laundry or must do it themselves - aren’t there more important things on life or indeed about cruising? Coincidentally we just enjoyed free laundry on Viking - but hey the trade off was there was Noro on the ship so we had to soon the wheel on that. Seems we’ve dodged that bullet and are enjoying our Viking cruise - nice overall package but it’s not quite up there with Old Crystal, Regent or Silversea - but more than tolerable with some good points - eg this particular ship only launched in Dec 2022 and is very nicely designed
  20. They seem to be doing something right - 10 ocean ships I think it is and sailing with good loadings. We’re on Neptune at the moment and there’s plenty of Viking faithful repeat customers on board I think he seems to have got the recipe pretty right - who knows if they’re profitable though?
  21. That one’s very special - great B2B - we’ll certainly know the gulf states after that one 🥂
  22. US$50 (for 2) is currently CDN$66 - I have no idea where they’re from but remember there are other countries and exchange rates to factor in
  23. Incredibly unlikely - would you seriously think they wouldn’t provide a fridge to keep drinks cold in the room?
  24. A mention of new Crystal and ordering “off the menu” items in CN Traveller - it quotes Günter Lorenz, Crystals VP of Food & Beverage https://www.cntraveler.com/story/cruise-ship-food-etiquette-off-menu/amp
