  1. He was also a CD on Regent - he featured in a couple of the British TV programmes on the new ships, Explorer I think Have you come across Ross Roberts as CD on Seabourn? - he’s excellent, one of the best. He’s been doing their World Cruise recently
  2. It’s great to see some shore excursion options listed for the early cruises on Serenity (I believe it’s just for the first three cruises at this point) - well done to the team putting these together. Still to come are pre and post cruise tour options but they’re on the way…. You can’t book them just yet but at least you can now see the options including prices Here’s an example of the list for the first cruise I’m hoping we seek the A&K knowledge and expertise come into play in this area
  3. How about putting your faith in a fellow guest who hasn’t been on the updated ships to try and interpret it for you in the interim? 😉
  4. Long term Silversea background - well liked by most Silversea guests from what I’ve seen Pretty much came with the new owner 😉 https://latteluxurynews.com/2022/11/08/ak-travel-group-nabbs-silverseas-brand-ambassador/ Here’s some background on him from Silversea https://www.silversea.com/about-silversea/press-releases/2019/july/fernando-de-oliveira-25-years-at-the-heart-of-silversea-cruises.html
  5. While is a benefit over normal Crystal cruises free laundry is hardly a unique - it’s standard on all Regent cruises these days and for anyone with 100 nights or more on Silversea (which a World Cruise would get you) - I’d say it’s table stakes on most luxury lines these days

  7. Remember your friends sailing on the same cruise can utilise your certificates too - so it doesn’t mean 5 cruises - you can knock them off in one cruise if you have a few friends who you like to sail with 😉 Standing by 😂😂😂🥂

  10. It’s simple and well sign posted in the station - remember the Shinkansen (Bullet train) runs on its own special tracks that support the speed and offer a very smooth ride You can catch the Shinkansen between Tokyo and Yokohama if you just want to experience it Certainly not worth purchasing a JR Pass for that journey - just buy a ticket at the station beforehand - you might want to take the Green car (first class)although it’s only a short journey
  11. Glad you got to enjoy some of Tokyo on your departure day - the proximity of Haneda to the city makes that possible Pretty sure those gardens you visited in Shinjuku were Shinjuku Gyoen National Gardens https://www.gotokyo.org/en/spot/75/index.html https://www.env.go.jp/garden/shinjukugyoen/english/index.html They're great to visit across all seasons and have a wide variety of garden styles to enjoy - a really peaceful haven in the midst of a busy district
  12. So what restaurant is replacing Churrascaria at night? I haven’t seen that announced - so without that I make the count of restaurants one short on new Crystal Great numbers have climbed from “some, many, most” to now an amazing number and someone has apparently estimated it at 90% - who was that and where was it stated? 90% of which category or is that across the board? - if truly across the board then that is indeed “amazing” - if it’s 90% of one or two departments then not so much. As you point out normal attrition and through changes in family values circumstances, lifestyle, retirement would tend to suggest that a 90% rate would be unlikely in an industry such as a cruise line
  13. Wow - another cruise line got a mention and people had differing views about a particular product, some liked it and some didn’t Nothing new here If you don’t like the way a discussion is gong then why not just use the Report function and let the hosts decide on the appropriateness of it - or just scroll on past it… Telling others how you expect them to act on an internet discussion group is unlikely to drive the change you seem to crave
  14. Received this email today - supposedly the final sale of these lovely cookbooks TASTE: Crystal’s 30th Anniversary Cookbook Don't Miss Out - This is The Final Sale! 15. If you booked seperate cabins each then yes - but otherwise it’s one certificate per cabin for double occupancy and you get the discount on the booking and both occupants get an OBC - they won’t allow you to double dip on those benefits for a single booking Just book another cruise 😂
  16. No - at least there wasn’t when we were on Silver Muse recently There are sandwiches and cakes available in Arts Cafe but nothing like the special tea service offered on Regent or old Crystal We always thought it would have been nice to have had a tea service in Dolce Vita - even if only occasionally
  17. That’s why I raised it No surprise there It makes sense as the other luxury lines are releasing their schedules so if Crystal don’t then it will be another window missed as people make commitments on other lines for their 2025 plans. Many of us have long since filled up our 2024 schedule with cruises and other travel
  18. So you do or don’t agree that what I’ve said would work? No certificates for me either as we got all our money back from old Crystal - but I have friends with them and we may just do that although I have not desire to book more Crystal cruises than I already have done I wonder if they’ll announce their 2025 schedule before the July deadline for this offer rolls over? My point was simply that your assertion that it wouldn’t be possible is likely incorrect
  19. Why wouldn’t they? Seaknots is saying they’d be prepared to lose the B2B discount element Crystal have never stopped people booking individual cruises have they? Imagine if on Monday you booked one leg, had a sleep on it and decided on Tuesday, totally out of the blue, you wanted to book another cruise, which just happened to be the one before or after the one you booked on Monday - or maybe your spouse decided to do that and book that second cruise - what’s the issue with that? Imagine you had say a $30,000 credit - so each credit was $6,000 - so applying $12,000 across two cruises could conceivably be more than the B2B discount - why wouldn’t you want to do that?
  20. Interesting Have you raised it with the Internet Manager onboard? What did they say? It seems strange that Rachel is posting regularly with pictures - so how can one guest be having such a different experience over another?
  21. Remember that to be used in another guests booking you also need to be cruising on the same cruise as them - so that certainly limits their use and transferability I don’t see anything in the terms that limits it happening as friends and family are not rigidly defined - can you see something that would limit it (of course I wouldn’t be advertising the fact - no need to poke the bear)
  22. When we were on Silver Muse in Feb we were able to pick up disposable plastic bottles of water at the gangway We never saw any reusable water bottles available (unlike the ones they have in your suite on Regent) Some tours had water available but I wouldn’t rely on that happening
  23. Casinos, love them or hate them? - it would be great to get your views on the impact of Crystal’s decision to not have casinos operating in the future I know this is a hot topic and many have expressed their views already but I’d like to gather peoples views on how the no casinos decision is actually going to impact them (and Crystal) You can use the comments section to say why you’ve made your vote one way or the other and also how you would like to see the vacant space occupied
  24. They certainly had Bombay Sapphire and Hendricks - no charge Not sure about Fevertree as the mixer but whatever it was went down fine Here’s some more we had at the British lunch so add Plymouth, Berkeley Square and Tanqueray to the list - so there’s at least those on board Muse There’s plenty of selection onboard - the reality is there’s thousands of gins from around the world out there now
  25. From Cruise Industry News Crystal announced that it has selected Allianz Global Assistance to provide trip protection for its guests including covering unexpected cancellations, interruptions and travel delays, as well as benefits for unforeseen baggage loss, delay or damages and medical emergencies, according to a press release. “As we celebrate the relaunch of the storied Crystal brand, we are thrilled to partner with Allianz Global Assistance to provide additional peace of mind to our valued guests,” said Crystal President Jack Anderson. https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2023/04/crystal-announces-trip-protection-from-allianz-global-assistance/
