  1. On our Silhouette TA last month, when DH ordered lobster and I didn't, the waiter asked if he would like mine in addition to his own at no extra cost.
  2. Five days + for mine, ages for husbands, he doesn’t read much. He wouldn’t have a kindle if I hadn’t won one!,
  3. I asked about upgrading to Balcony when the price went down after final payment. We could have done it for $300 pp, but would have lost $400 OBC, so it didn't make sense. We bid $200 pp when we were offered a chance to move up and were successful, so we thought it was a win. We kept our OBC.
  4. To be honest in three years without cruising we had forgotten about the lack of outlets. Our previous cruise was on M class and during the refit lamps with outlets were added beside the bed. It was not a deal breaker for us. The ship was in good condition with no paint flakes or shabby furniture. I only took the picture because questions about outlets are frequently asked on these boards and a picture is worth a thousand words. After the cruise we stayed with family in Europe. The charging situation was much worse in their home. We had items plugged in in several different rooms.
  5. This is how we charged two iPads, two phones, two watches and one set of hearing aids on Silhouette. These were on the desk, nothing by the bed. Our Kindles had to take their turn!
  6. After recently taking our first Caribbean cruise in about ten years we are in no hurry to do another. I guess we are not the target market for private islands, since we don’t spend a lot of time on beaches. We enjoyed many aspects of our Silhouette B2B. Most of the food was good and the size of portions suited us. The ship was clean and well furnished. We stopped cruising Celebrity when they went all inclusive because it didn’t represent value to us and were very happy when cruise only returned.
  7. I agree. We drink some alcohol but not enough to warrant a beverage package. The free coffees suit us well and the internet minutes are adequate for our needs. The two free bags of laundry each are more than we ever use, even on a 14 day cruise. For us the Elite+ benefits represent real value more so than the diamond benefits on Royal Caribbean, which we have occasionally used.
  8. If they see the Maitre d’ as soon as they board they can change their time if that is what they want.
  9. Or until your other half runs out.😀😀😀 But seriously … after a couple of evenings, the waiter in Sky Lounge would come over with the Pinot Grigio bottle and fill my glass almost to the brim to take to dinner. We booked 7pm dinner every night. We also got a couple of unopened cans of water each evening and friends got soda without any problem. With that, and free lattes at Cafe al Baccio we had no need to get a drink package.
  10. Also wifi minutes do not carry over. However a positive is that if you buy liquor on the first cruise it will be delivered to your cabin on the last day of that cruise which is handy if you don’t have a drink package on the second one.
  11. We have done a number of B2B cruises and everything has gone according to the plan described above. However we just completed one that was seriously messed up. We informed our steward ahead of time, put our hanging items on the bed as requested (first time we were asked to do that), packed the rest and emptied the safe. We took the safe contents to our new cabin, which was almost ready, then went to wait to be taken off the ship. There was quite a wait for the ship to be emptied, but eventually we were processed and allowed back on. Our new cabin was ready, but no sign of our luggage. We went to the solarium, then had lunch. Still no sign of our luggage. We called customer service and our suitcases arrived. Mid afternoon we called again about our hanging items. They arrived just before dinner, carried by two unfamiliar people, just in their arms. I have no idea what caused this. I assume our stuff was moved from the cabin since it was booked by new passengers, but the system broke down somewhere. Nothing was lost, so we didn’t complain. We just decided to let it go and enjoy our second cruise.
  12. We drink alcohol in moderation, but for the same reason as above a drink package doesn’t make sense to us. We didn’t carry on wine for our recent B2B because we went straight from the airport to the ship and with Elite+ benefits we didn’t miss it.
  13. I am not anti child and have never been on a Celebrity cruise where children have been a problem. That may well be because we don’t cruise in school holidays. When I was a teacher I was restricted to holiday time travel. We were lounging on the beach at a Caribbean resort when a girl came over and said “Hello Mrs. _____. Two families from my school were at the same resort. After that it was adult only for us until I retired. I agree with previous posters that Sandals was superb.
  14. We just took our first Caribbean cruise in ten years. We tagged it on B2B before our Silhouette TA, mainly because it didn’t involve extra air fare and was an escape from cold Canadian weather. We didn’t have any complaints about the cruise, but doubt if we will cruise in the Caribbean again. For us, cruising is about seeing new and interesting places. Europe and Asia offer that. The TA was a relaxing way to arrive in Europe without jet lag and enjoy time with family in UK and Germany. Apart from those who cruise just to be on a ship, I think there is an attraction to different places. North Americans see Europe as different and exciting, while Europeans feel the same about the Caribbean.
  15. We have tried three times to visit Israel. The first was a land tour that was cancelled because of the unrest. The second two were cruises and the itinerary for the first one was changed several months ahead. We enjoyed visiting the Greek Islands. The third time the cruise had a last minute cancellation of ports in Israel. The first we heard of that change was in an email from our privately booked tour guide. He refunded our deposit because our ship was not going to the port. It was two days before Celebrity notified us, a week before departure. We have decided now that maybe we are not supposed to visit the Holy Land, but I will never say never.
  16. Silhouette TA, 20n April 13 nights Booked directly with Celebrity Email received early March Bid minimum, $295 CAD pp for Inside to Balcony. Notified that bid was accepted 30 March Unobstructed balcony on 8th deck 1B Elite+ There were many staterooms unoccupied when I placed the bid but I didn't bid on any other category.
  17. Travelling to UK to visit our grandchildren and arriving without jet lag. Relaxing sea days with a good book and knitting. I don’t mind the long flight back, we can recover at home.
  18. We are leaving for the same itinerary on April 10, so looking forward to your review and pictures. We are staying on Silhouette for the Transatlantic. We haven't taken an ocean cruise since before the pandemic, so we are getting excited.
  19. In 30+ Celebrity cruises I have been fortunate not to encounter any unruly children. This may be because we take longer cruises and do not travel in school holidays. I am a retired teacher and for many years had to vacation then, so now we are happy to cruise at non peak times. I am not concerned about designated times for children to use the solarium in inclement weather as long as those times are clearly defined and posted so adults can move to another location if they so wish. I am however concerned about parents who are teaching their children that rules can be broken if it suits them.
  20. We are fortunate that my retired employee health plan covers trips up to 90 days outside Ontario. We have had two issues, one major, when my husband had a heart attack on a cruise in China. Apart from covering costs, the insurance company provided help navigating the Chinese system. They booked a hotel for us after the hospital stay and a car to take us there. The same English speaking driver took us to the airport and a doctor from Boston accompanied us on the flight, joining husband in first class while I was in economy. They even arranged a car to take us home. There is no way I could have managed all this alone, while worrying about my husband. We didn’t see a bill until a couple of months after our return and when we did, it had a zero balance. The other issue was less concerning. I slipped and broke my wrist in Zanzibar. Again the clinic dealt directly with the insurance company so we had nothing to pay, although in this case the cost was something we could have covered without the insurance.
  21. We are sailing on the tenth and haven’t had our move up offer accepted. We bid the minimum so are not hopeful.
  22. We enjoy the Beyond the Podium speakers and the choir as well as relaxing time.
  23. We are doing our tenth TA this April. We enjoy both directions, but eastbound is our favourite, mainly because we arrive in Europe rested without the awful overnight flight. The return flight is in daytime and we will be home to recover from jet lag. We have been fortunate to have had reasonable weather in both directions, although we did miss Cobh once because of a storm in the Bay of Biscay.
  24. Thank you for a positive review. We are on Silhouette B2B Eastern Caribbean and Transatlantic and are looking forward to it.
  25. We enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the Elite breakfast, and the cold items, especially smoked salmon suit us well. The venue on S class is the Tuscan Grill which is bright and cheerful. No one has to go there if they prefer the buffet or MDR, it is just an option. We occasionally go to the Oceanview, but the MDR for breakfast doesn't appeal at all since the food is pre plated and not very hot.
