  1. I watched it. Julia Garner is a fantastic actress & she did a great job. And yes, the accent was real! I went down a rabbit hole and while the story is mostly true, there are a few events that are greatly exaggerated. Some of the characters had their names changed or are a few real life people combined into one character. Also, the old saying: There are 3 sides to every story. Yours, mine and the truth" applies here. The story is told from Anna's POV and the hotel desk clerk friend. The "other friend" that got stiff with the hotel bill in Morocco was not interview (she had a pending book deal & could not give interviews) and therefore is not shown in a very positive light. EDIT: Hopefully you've seen the whole series & I didn't spoil anything.
  2. Agreed. At first, I didn't mind flying as it was part of the pre-cruise excitement, especially when tacking on a 2 or 3 day pre-cruise stay. Plus, Florida is the cruise capital of the world, so many options of ships & itineraries and it's nice meeting people from all over the world on the cruise. But it's also nice to not have to deal with the hassles of flying, especially in winter. And driving home right afterwards is pretty nice as well.
  3. I'm pretty sure my step-daughter shops at the same stores/websites you do. Her OOTD & OOTN look almost identical to yours. Obviously, you both have great taste.
  4. 100% agree. It's amazing how the town is just incorporated into the landscape, as if the building where chiseled out of the cliffs.
  5. Who doesn't like a little late afternoon snooze after wine tasting on a hot day. At least it looks hot & arid. Love the old convertibles.
  6. 7 of the top 10 hotels have "Cave" in the name. Are they really built into the hillside like a man-made cave? Cause that's kinda cool! (pun intended).
  7. Your trip reports never disappoint so post whatever you do. It's always refreshing to see the city thru different eyes. Enjoy your trip, looks like you'll have fantastic weather for the first couple of days. If you have time, walk the Highline, start at the top (north) and work you way down to Greenwich Village. That's where it's more active. Then bounce around the village. https://www.thehighline.org/visit/ Byrant Park is a nice, little park to kill an hour or two. Maybe even partake in a game of Pétanque, which looks a lot like Bocce to me but apparently it's different somehow. https://bryantpark.org/ Plenty of places to eat & drink at both which are my usual priorities.
  8. I guess I had a deprived childhood. Or have been living under a rock. I had no idea what is a Dum-Dum. Yep, I looked it up. It's possible I've had it in the past but the name never "stuck" with me.
  9. That's great news! Enjoy your trip. You received some great advice here and maybe some that were a bit "iffy". 🙂
  10. Wait a sec......we are supposed to read the thread first before commenting? 😉 Who knew? That certainly explains a lot. 😃
  11. Thanks. I'd have no issue paying $200 or $300 extra for the peace of mind but over a $1,000 is insane. That buys a lot of drinks at the Schooner Bar.
  12. Ok, so I’ve never booked a refundable fare for anything, ever. Two questions: is a 25% markup/surcharge ($1,000 on a $4,000 cruise) over non-refundable fare typical? That seems pretty excessive for what is basically insurance that is no longer valid once you are within 90 days. Second question: In years past, I’ve seen people post that they book a refundable fare as soon as a cruise itinerary is released, then “switch over” to a non-refundable when approaching the 90-day window. Is that a “thing”?? By switching over, is it just a phone call to Royal or TA or is it some kind of cruise “hack” that experienced people do by cancelling their refundable cabin & then rebooking the same cabin (or better) right away at the lower rate? Seems like cheating but if Royal allows it, more power to the people! Looking back, every cruise I’ve ever taken was booked within 3 months of sailing. I guess I don’t look too far ahead. Lol
  13. I love when a cherry tomatoes explodes with flavor when you bite into them. But only when I'm popping them into my mouth one at a time when snacking on them. Not as part of a salad or meal, that gets very messy.😊
  14. "Um. Let's talk about my hair". 😅 Beautiful. Amazing, in a somewhat hauntingly kind of way. And probably easier on the hair too. 😉
  15. Mocking booking on Nov 12, 2023 sailing on Anthem today vs yesterday: Studio Balcony went up $50 today & regular balcony went up $100 today. Same cabin# in both instances. Tried a mock booking on Sept 1 sailing on Mariner. Starting price of balcony remained the same but when I tried to pick a cabin, the website just froze both days.
