  1. Yes, and I have read of the long lines at the desk because of this. Best to have it refunded to our card before the cruise. And again, I was specifically told NON refundable. I do believe she was mistaken, but that is what she said.
  2. The rep I spoke to specifically said NON refundable. And even if refundable, which of course it should be, why should we have to wait until after the cruise to have something we already paid for and they can no longer deliver credited back to our card?
  3. I realize that that is not an NCL thing, but I still find it ironic in general that refunds are processed so much slower than charges. Meanwhile, I got the cancellation of the port e-mail a second time as a forward from my TA. I reread it and it says if you have an excursion booked you do not have to do anything. But I did have to call them and have them change it to a cancellation in order to get it refunded. Otherwise, they were going to give me non refundable OBC as compensation for money I had already paid them and for which they could no longer provide the service I had paid for.
  4. BTW, in case you have an excursion booked there and want it to be compensated back to your credit card rather that be compensated with OBC for money you already paid them, it can be done. I had to argue with them, but they finally realized I was asking for money back for our excursion that they could no longer provide rather than compensation for a missed port. The rep went to the resolutions department and came back to tell me since you can cancel excursion up to 48 hours before the excursion for a refund, they would cancel it, and it would be refunded. Though I was told it could take up to 7-10 business days to show up on my card.
  5. It can be done! They argued at first, but then realized I was not asking for compensation for a missed port, but wanted our money back that we had already paid for an excursion (One of the only two we booked with NCL). They argued that their contract allowed them to cancel a port, and they were already giving compensation as OBC (BTW when I asked non-refundable as it was compensation). I argued how could it be compensation if I already paid it. Then the rep asked if I was asking for money for the missed port or for my already paid excursion. When she realized what I was actually asking for, she put me on hold and went to the resolutions department. She came back, and said you can cancel excursions up to 48 hours before the excursion for a refund. So that is what they did. However, she told me it may take 7-10 business days. Amazing how quickly a charge goes from pending to charge and yet a refund can take up to 2 weeks.
  6. When posters on other boards (not limited to Celebrity) refer to Carnival as the Walmart of the Seas, that is snobbism. We have been on 5 different cruise lines including Carnival (but not Celebrity), and every cruise has its good points and things that make it not perfect.
  7. And did you notice that they are not refunding the money if you bought one of their excursions? Instead they are changing it to OBC. We had booked Brugge On Your Own with the $50 off for me and 10% off on both of us for our Latitudes status, it was a bit cheaper than getting there and back on your own. I had looked up museums there, and DW, a retired art teacher, was very happy with the choices available. I also found a French Fry Museum, and was intrigued with the idea of that.
  8. Is not having boats capable of being used as tenders NCL's fault? Their older ship, the Star, has been tendering passengers in Isafjordur. One of the improvements in new ships is not being able to tender? 🤦‍♂️
  9. Thanks, I learned something from your post.
  10. They say it is because of low tides. We now have an overnight in Amsterdam, great city but we have been there twice on land trips and never been to Belgium. DW was not thrilled when I told her she might as well return the Fodors Belgium book she took from our local library. Meanwhile they still have Isafjordur, Iceland listed as a port though they have not made it there yet this season.
  11. Did you notice that they still have Isafjordur listed? They have not made that stop yet this season. What do you think the odds are that they actually will for our cruise.
  12. And they did not know this in advance when they made the schedule?
  13. I would think that tango classes are not very likely. Salsa or fox trot classes or maybe rhumba or meringue classes would be much more likely.
  14. Print the e-mail and bring it with you so that you have it in writing.
  15. could someone please point out a thread to me. I am not going through 472 pages to look for it. 🤦‍♂️ My notifications say @hostKat has linked to this, but there is no link.
  16. That makes a lot of sense. Maybe it makes too much sense for them to do it. 🤣
  17. I am already on that board. It is where I asked the question. Please point me out a thread that does what you say.
  18. Good luck, but this does sound problematic.
  19. You really should get it approved before the sailing. There has to be an immigration agent to approve your disembarkation.
  20. Sorry, my mistake obviously. I did say in several different posts that we would be there in a few weeks.
  21. Please direct me to it and answer the direct question of do we need Euros for transportation or can we just walk.
  22. No hotel is Amsterdam; it is port stop on a cruise from London (Southampton) to Reykjavik.
  23. 2024 does us no good as we are scheduled to land there as a I said August 15th, only a few weeks away.
