Many thanks Geoff for finding this. Yes we boarded at LA. To Sydney. We sure got smashed with wild seas around the Bluff, bottom of NZ. Waves up to deck 10. Capt Froude got us back. Aaah, great memories, but scary.

Stayed at Meriton, Pitt St in Cbd, handy to trains etc. Recommended.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a Scotch pie?
Scotch pie, I had one in Edinburgh, pre coeliac days, years ago. Savoury minced lamb in it from memory.

They look delicious, we have not been able to get them here in coles for a while now. I have looked into making them myself but as my other half says ‘too much stuffing around’ I still make Scotch pies, that involves a fair bit of stuffing around.😉
Coles and Woolworth pork pies are sourced from Patchetts at Botany, NSW and Temptation Bakeries in Victoria. Fair hike to Perth. One would think with many ex pat and migrant Brits living around Perth, someone would manufacture pork pies.
Anyway good to see the pie thread still alive, our departed Mr Gut would like that. RIP mate.

That is interesting. We eat Cornish pasties hot, as well as pies.
Only pork pies cold, rest warm to hot. English style pork pies, available here, woolies and coles, around $3.70.

Saga's Spirit of Discovery had to return to Portsmith because of 30' rough seas crossing the Bay of Biscay.
There are a couple of clips on YT. Been through ye olde Bay of Biscay a few rimes, some really strong swells where Atlantic meets the Med.

45 minutes,
that's a long way to shop if you want a sausage roll.
I know Mic, but no bakery in Batemans Bay does gf pies and sausage rolls. The frozen ones from Coles and Woollies pretty ordinary. So when I go to Haydens, I eat a freshie there and bring back half a dozen frozies for Ron. Pricey though as is most gf food, $8 for the base mince beef pie.

What is the difference between a "Cunarder" and a "Cunard regular" then?
Cunarder can also be part of the Cunard sub culture, ship nut and or regular cruiser on Cunard. In this Colonials opinion.

Ah, A couple of speshul Aussie Cunarders there, think I know them, lol. Good to see you upholding the Cunard Tradition.
Certainly not P and O Australia, lol.

I have a thought, now if the Aussie pax on Cunard promised to wear Tux/dinner suit in the dining rooms, even Britannia restaurant and buffet…then Cunard may return to the colonies down under. The Brit Cunarders would be content then.

...either that or go to Marks and Spencer's and get one for £100
Or a dark suit from Primark for 50 notes. Tuxedo/Dinner suit is not compulsory on formal night, dark bag of fruit is fine.

Nice to hear from you Terry. I have only been to one concert at the Opera house but it was memorable.

I think our experience would be "hmm-FIRST & last time with P&O for us".
Just back from Pacific Adventure Bounty Cruise on Sat & guess that P&O and us are not a good match. We chose the cruise purely for the itinerary (Norfolk Is, Tonga, Fiji and Noumea) & we enjoyed them all. Good weather and spending times with friends and family was good & we met some nice people.
Not all bad, & we did enjoy our time, but RC, Princess & Carnival are clearly a better match for us for sure.
Food was just OK, food variety was poor, entertainment so-so & lack of communication & organisation was terrible. Staff did their best but the whole ship is just a bit off in terms of delivering a memorable experience. We didnt mind the ship itself and our 14th deck balcony cabin was really good.
Anyway, we went with doubts that it would be what we would want, and we pretty well got that 🙂Still, we got 15N of no cooking and cleaning and the beer was cold and freely available 🙂 so not all bad.
Mr Walker, young Neil, were Tuxedos/Dinner Suits in gay abundance in the MDR?

The late 60’ s even, mic, started going to Matravile Rissole in 1966, schooner was 20 cents. A meat pie about the same.
Yes, I had a misspent youth.🍺🍻
