  1. A bit too subtle since I didn't read that as your intent. ' We should sideline the off topic discussions and let Jim get back to his trip report' is direct and to the point and not disrespectful in the least.
  2. Let's let Jim and Ian enjoy their holiday and not guilt him of not posting enough.
  3. Yes, even on legacy Carnival Spirit Class ships the steakhouse is on deck 10.
  4. You mean just like those 'As seen on TV' gadgets where they first tell you it costs $40 for one but 5 seconds later tell you if you order now they will give you a second one free? And it's always the same deal?
  5. No, that price is for ONE bag of laundry. Your HAL pricing is a steal of it's unlimited. That's even less that cousin line Carnival charges, since they don't have an unlimited laundry package for people without status.
  6. For our July 7th Apex cruise we're planning on taking the train from AMS to Amsterdam Central station, then walking 2 blocks to the Doubletree Amsterdam Central station Hotel for 2 nts. Then we will take the train from Central station to Rotterdam and walk a few blocks to the Holiday Inn Express Rotterdam Central station for 1 nt precruise. Post cruise we will take the train from Rotterdam directly to Brussels Airport, about 90 minutes away, to take a 2 hour flight from Brussels to Rome. Four days later we will be boarding the Odyssey of the Seas for a family cruise to the Greek Islands.
  7. The issue in using the train to/from Rome City Center to Civitavecchia is not only the up and down but once at Civitavecchia you still need to take ANOTHER shuttle bus to get to the cruiseport. This is a relatively new issue since at Civitavecchia they have built a new cruiseport. Prior to the current port the ship pier was literally STEPS away from the Civitavecchia train station. You would disembark the train at Civitavecchia and walk about two blocks and boom, you were at the cruise pier. Even then it was a hassle since the train cars aren't built to store luggage. The 2nd and last time we took a train from Rome to Civitavecchia we had to stand all the way from Rome with our luggage jammed in the aisleways. That was the last time for that!
  8. If you want to give additional tips to someone on YTD you just physically give them an envelope thanking them and say it's something extra. It's how you do on every ship on every cruiseline.
  9. I found this: https://www.thestreet.com/investing/carnival-partners-with-betmgm-gambling-cruise-ships#:~:text=The cruise line has made,Royal Caribbean does not offer.&text=Casinos on cruise ships have, been part of the offering.
  10. You can't be sure whether that's the truth or just what was revealed to the public. Marketing, marketing.
  11. Let's put it this way. If the set-up on the new Jubilee is exactly the same as the Mardi Gras and Celebration then you can be 100% sure the setup is deliberate. If it wasn't they would have had plenty of time to change the ship design if you're implying they 'didnt realize the main MDRs couldn't accommodate all the passengers at the same time' .
  12. You're assuming this wasn't purposeful. Obviously it was. Unlike the rest of the fleet, Cucina and Chibang are MEANT to be MDR's and NOT Specialty restaurants. That's why the menus aren't the same for Cucina on Excel Class ships; the choices and quality has been downscaled since it's NOT SUPPOSED to be a specialty restaurant.
  13. I'm not sure what you think you're seeing but on Celebrity's own website Cabin 9303 is classified as a P1 Deluxe Porthole View Stateroom with Veranda as are the others you're on Deck 8 you're claiming are traditional verandas. Please don't give out wrong information. You do a disservice to all who read these posts. The Apex is a ship that thousands of people, including myself have sailed on. You're not some special person that 'discovered' some kind of secret cabin category. That's utter nonsense.
  14. You're on a roll in the casino! Hopefully my husband will be just as lucky when we're on the ship in September for the trip back to Brisbane.
  15. I agree 100%, however lots of people don't seem to agree. I don't have an issue sitting on the banquette and having a server get me a drink and snacks. Even when we were on the Reflection with the old Michael's Club we never sat at the bar.
  16. Whether it's a cruiseship buffet or a casino hotel buffet we work it the same way, one person waits at the table while someone else goes to get food.
  17. This video of 9303 clearly shows it's a porthole Veranda. https://youtu.be/5fUmLWPmyIc
  18. Congrats on the win! That's GREAT!!! The casino has changed over to USD?
  19. It's been my experience on Carnival that the dinner buffet has the same menu choices that's offered that night in the MDR.
  20. This is interesting. I've never seen this before, ever. I wonder if it's a fleetwide addition?
  21. I think that's a happy and ideal compromise in having a Retreat Lounge with a real bar that you can sit at AND it having an up-to-date decor that's brighter and less like a stuffy Men's Club.
