New XL class - no table cloths in the main dining?
kwokpot replied to BrotherCraig's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
The removal of the table clothes in the MDR fleetwide coincided with the introduction of the American Table concept. That also reduced the amount of flatware that was initially setup and introduced those square bread plates with images of Iconic American cities. This is also where they introduced the glass flask for water. So the standard table setting for American Table are; no tablecloths, reduced flatware, square bread plates, water glasses, tabletop water carafe. -
Yes, I have been on all NCL ships below Breakaway Plus and even their older 90,000 ton ships of the same class as Celebrity's M-Class have Spas that are vastly nicer than any Celebrity ship.
-
Agree 100%. One longs for the Spa/gym locker rooms on the original M-Class ships with the plentiful lockers and wonderful saunas with the big, round picture window. Unfortunately Celebrity realized that a lot of space was devoted to those non revenue generating locker rooms and the Revolutionized M-Class ships have both the Men's and Women's locker rooms in the same space as one!

Celebrity Silhouette Persian Garden time slots
kwokpot replied to jenal42's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Yes, unlimited access. But you still need to visit the spa desk each time to exchange your room card for a thermal suite key card. -
There isn't a specific water bottle filling station on any Celebrity ship. But you can go to the Oceanview Cafe (and the Spa Cafe when it's open) and using a cup get water from the water dispensers to fill up your own water bottle. The Fitness Center also has your standard drinking water fountains.

Edge - Condition of Sky Suites and Retreat Lounge/Retreat Pool
kwokpot replied to JDPCruisers's topic in Celebrity Cruises
This report details normal wear and tear and in no way implies the Edge is in poor condition. I'm not sure what people's expectations are. It's a ocean going vessel that's exposed to the harshest conditions 24/7. -
You got it! Edit: This type of cabin design allows the ship to hold more cabins since each cabin is narrower for 2/3 of the cabin and a recess in the remaining third to have enough space for the bed. I think cruiselines are rethinking this design since NCL's newest Prima Class Ships no longer have this indent and the cabins are back to the old design with a full rectangular cabin shape.
-
No I think you;re looking at it backwards. The indent is where the bed goes since it allows for enough room for the bed and space to walk by at the foot of the bed. Generally the cabins alternate and fit together like a puzzle. So #'s 8300,8304,and 8277 have the bed by the Veranda while #'s 8302 & 8275 have the bed by the bathroom since the indent is closer to the middle of the cabin the the deck plan.
-
Of course you can't move the beds - why on earth would you ever think you can? You have to look at the deck plans to determine where the bed placement is. Look at the deck plans on Celebrity's website. Look at each cabin and the walls. Where you see a slight indent is where the bed is going to be. If the indent is closer to the window, then the bed will be by the window. If the indented line of the cabin wall is closer to the middle of the room, then the bed will be near the bathroom. As you can see the deck plans don't draw in the cabin bathroom, which is why the indent seems to be in the middle, but that's because the bathroom is supposed to be right by the entrance.

Edge - Condition of Sky Suites and Retreat Lounge/Retreat Pool
kwokpot replied to JDPCruisers's topic in Celebrity Cruises
You're worrying over nothing. -
To my knowledge there aren't any revealed plans for major renovations, just required maintenance. A major overhaul is minimum 4 weeks.
-
The ship is fully scheduled for cruises the whole month of September.

ASCENT - traditional balcony without being in Suite Class?
kwokpot replied to jules815's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Look at the Veranda category and then look at sunset veranda or deluxe porthole view with veranda. Those are the only two cabin categories. -
Celebrity Silhouette Persian Garden time slots
kwokpot replied to jenal42's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If you're talking about how much time you're supposed to be using the individual tile loungers, yes, you're asked to limit your individual time on THE LOUNGER to 30 minutes. But there's no limit to the amount of time you can spend in the thermal suites itself, nor is there any 'schedule' you have to sign up for. If you have a Thermal suite pass, whether it's one day or whole cruise, you have UNLIMITED Assess for an unlimited time when the spa is open. The only time they may be an issue is if it's all full. Whether you're Aquaclass or have purchased a spa pass EVERYONE MUST exchange their room card for a thermal suite keycard. That's how they control how many people are using the thermal suite. If the spa desk are out of thermal suite keycards that means that it's full. You would have to come back when someone else has returned a keycards. This applies to Aquaclass guests too. Besides being fully occupied there's no time limits or time slots you need to reserve. It's first come, first served. -
Correct. If you checkout the last few minutes of this video you'll see the actual veranda. https://youtu.be/7naAQNtbFDs

No, the soft goods in the cabins haven't been updated.

The balcony is what is normally called a hull balcony since it's within the hull if the ship. In this case the porthole aspect is the actual opening to the outside with a half glass railing. It's a large circular opening and not a little porthole window. The actual cabin has a regular sliding glass door to the balcony. The only issue is it's a a very narrow space. https://youtu.be/7naAQNtbFDs
