  1. The info on VV is available on your cabin TV. I have found making reservations is much better in person than using VV.
  2. It would apply. You just have to make the booking within 2 weeks of disembarkation - you can take the cruise anytime. You get an additional $200 per person OBC above any other discounts for each cruise booked. The amount is the same for river or ocean and long or short cruise. If you’re interested, I can email you his name and extension.
  3. We’ve completed a total of 11 Viking ocean and river cruises and never had a problem with free or reduced air that Viking didn’t resolve satisfactorily. There are also risks in not using Viking air. Case in point: we returned from a cruise 2 weeks ago where there were technical issues with the ship that resulted in a 5 hour delay in disembarkation. Most had to have flights rescheduled, and those who did air on their own were on their own to reschedule as well. Free air has served us well and realistically is a great benefit for us.

  5. Please explain your response. We found that depending on who was running it, it was good or not so good. The Viking Daily tells you who that will be.
  6. FWIW, we just got off the Star and had trivia and/or name that tune almost every day. On port days, we had both - one afternoon and one evening.
  7. No. The you need to stop by guest services.
  8. Only once you’re aboard. Also note, in the example I gave previously, Viking did meet their obligation as we did have a free excursion booked before embarkation - but it wasn’t our preferred free one.
  9. We just returned from a cruise where one port had 3 choices for the included excursion. The one we wanted was sold out before DVs had a chance. We put our cabin on the wait list, as did others - and a second group was established. I’m fairly sure the same goes for non-included excursions.
  10. thanks - this is helpful as we will be flying home from FLL again in January and it is likely we will be there early again.
  11. Thank you - our checked luggage would not pass screening - we had the Viking welcome bottle of wine in there 😊
  12. We had a situation with a direct flight (FLL -> EWR) last week where Viking got us to the airport 5 hours before flight time. I was told by United we could check baggage until 4 hours before the flight. Question: if I had lounge privileges, how would our to-be-checked luggage be handled? Would I need to schlep it with us to the lounge?
  13. I assume you mean Covid related cancellations. We have one left which will be used early next year. We used political related vouchers for 2 cruises this year (Ukraine and Russia).
  14. Try a hard restart- often works for situations like this on Apple systems.
  15. Duh - if you don’t eat or otherwise remove them, then they won’t be added to. I don’t think anyone here thinks you would accumulate 28 bags of nuts on a 2 week cruise if you don’t take any out.
  16. Yes. The PV alcohol is independent of the SSP.
  17. Whatever is offered in small bottles when leaving the ship. It's included, but only available when excursions are leaving. We’re currently on the Star - Canada and New England Shores. The bottled water given out at excursions is spring water.
  18. AT&T used to - that was my reason for starting this thread.
  19. No reason to be afraid of billing if airplane mode is on - so you can answer those texts and calls. The AT&T message I pasted in #1 above from last year was actually sent in error. But the day pass is a good option for those who want cell service while on land. Now you have to remember to return to airplane mode when you’re on or near the ship.
  20. But iMessage reverts to SMS when texting with android users
  21. We are currently on the Star. I have been using AT&T WiFi calling as I always do on Viking cruises. Yesterday, we crossed into the US at Eastport, and continued through the night to Portland where we are now docked. After about 4 hours of sailing towards Portland, I turned off Airplane Mode, and went to sleep. I did not try to make any calls. In the middle of the night, I received this text from AT&T: Hi, it's AT&T. Welcome aboard! Please note this ship is not covered by your International Day Pass. Your international rates on this ship are: talk $3.00/min, text $0.50/msg sent. Cellular data service and photo/video msgs are not available. This ship is not covered by any AT&T international packages. Questions? Call +1.214.547.2300 (free call). Evidently, things have changed. Last year, we received this text while on the Sea. Please note both messages were sent under the same sender ID: AT&T Free Msg: Remember, you have AT&T International Day Pass on this line. Enjoy the plan you use at home while traveling abroad. In each 24-hour period you use data, talk, or send a text in any of the 210+ included countries, you'll be charged $10 ($5 for additional lines charged on the same day). Pay no more than 10 daily fees per line per bill. Go to www.att.com/IDPTravelTips for details. We’re docked in Portland now, but I won’t try getting regular AT&T cell service until we go on our excursion.
  22. On the Star now - each day we get one bag of peanuts AND one bag of almonds/raisins and cranberries.
  23. I saw 2 sets on the Star. One had paper cards - looks like they were printed with a color inkjet.
  24. Odds are much better than not that you’ll get the selected or assigned seats. Stuff happens that can change that - usually changes in aircraft. As stated throughout CC, air problems are more common these days. If you truly feel Viking is guilty of bait and switch, there’s nothing else the regular posters here can say.
