  1. The ports, the ships, the food, the wine, the people we have met on board and on this site.
  2. Understood. Yes, you could have (really good) pizza for dinner, but as pointed out above room service is an option, as is eating at the grill on the pool deck with many great choices for a meal. Some folks just having fun above, which has turned out to be our #1 reason for Silversea - the people who are on the cruise with us & the ones posting on this board, who like adventure and experience as you seek, but add fun to those 2 goals. Another option is to wear a dark sport coat on the flight & for boarding, then wear it with dark trousers, and you will be able to eat wherever you want on a formal night, or any other. Oh, and pack a tie that'll go with one of your shirts. Hope your first Silversea cruise exceeds your expectations, as ours did not too long ago.
  3. Thanks for the great film DW, best 15 minutes of my day and the sun has set. As the kids around here say today, best stopover ever!
  4. Thank you, this is useful information as we try to understand where we stand regarding a D2D July European cruise this year.
  5. Seconds on the compliments on the video DW, enjoyed it and watched a second time with wife.
  6. Ditto @Lirio & of course the wine too. I'd open a bottle or two after your ordeal ๐Ÿ™‚. Welcome Steve. Overachievers always welcome. & Thank you for your service in the Army, we're all on the same side for the past couple hundred years (Thank goodness). Need help from our Australian friends, a friend is visiting your country and sent the photo below The 2nd RTE item on the left has me concerned.
  7. Our first cruise with RCL coming up the end of March, on Odyssey of the Seas, looking forward to it! In spite of running a few searches, I cannot figure out if there is a guest laundry on board (it's easy to see laundry can be sent out for a fee). So, please let us know if you know. Thanks in advance.
  8. Looks quite nice DW, as does the meal. Thanks for posting...Jaipur is a pretty warm place weather wise, correct?
  9. yes, really a good song, and in time to help me raise mine
  10. But, of course, she is a Florida girl ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. The pictures and stories behind them have been remarkable DW. Thank you.
  12. I must say that those islands do indeed have unique character and charm, it's just not on display at the cruise port. It's up to us cruisers to seek it out. This probably also argues against the included tour approach, as independent exploration can lead to the best opportunities to experience a place.
  13. I'm thinking this is how it is around the cooler...
  14. "To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.โ€ JKRowling
  15. Musical interlude, young people doing the best version of the old Tokens song "A Lion Sleeps Tonight" I think the future is in good hands with the young people of today...
  16. Good night Anna and Holger. Your writings have been fantastic. I hope we may see some of Holger's pictures here sometime?
  17. Always a pleasure to stop by the cooler. Enjoyable & relaxing. DW, I'm finding your posts informative and enlightening, please keep them coming! JP, thank you for as always great pictures (with a glimpse of snow), and please extend best wishes to Chris for her birthday. Dr Ron has inspired me how to better explain our Nordic Trac upstairs & how we use it, although I will need to seriously consider Mysty's modification next year ๐Ÿ™‚ Me too cruisinbanjo!
  18. These are wonderful to read. Thank you for posting. We have never been to Antarctica and were unsure if we wanted to visit, but your magical posts have convinced us to add it to our list! From your post: Keine deutschen Wรผrstchen bitte. I had to look up a translation but I "get it" now ๐Ÿ˜Š
  19. My beloved Mom never taught me how to cook but was always there to cook every meal in a delicious fashion (except a couple trips the folks took, when caretaker cooked). Just saying - great Mom, will always miss her, and look out when it's my night to cook ๐Ÿ˜‰
  20. Being a bit troubled by our lately dysfunctional political system, and finding little comfort in gazing across the Atlantic, I came upon this quote from Plato (I do hope its authentic). From Greece, birthplace of democracy:
  21. Perhaps so if you get off the ship and walk around the cruise port area, then reboard. I'm suspecting tongue in cheek here. Wife and I have enjoyed 6-day visits to both St. Thomas and St. Kitts/Nevis. Certainly, they were very different from one another. Hope you have a great trip Lois!
  22. Please have them note the sharp drop-off to the left before heading off
