  1. In spite of any distraction(s) TrulyBlonde just offered, I offer the following.
  2. When I was a boy, I heard this song on the one speaker AM radio given as a Christmas gift and loved it. When I watch this video now, I see people the age of my children today, and the oldest of my grandchildren today, singing it again. So shared with my kids on Voltemort (Stumbles knows what I'm trying to spell there) and then thought I'd share here. I do understand, each of us has our own musical tastes, so as someone wrote above, just scroll on by if not interested (walk on by....)
  3. I think it must be the week I've been through, or maybe something else, but I have so enjoyed Terry's posts these past years, I will take this question at face value and try to answer it. My only qualification is that my only sister (Tina) was born mentally & physically handicapped due to an accident at birth. Heard way too many spaz jokes that were, of course, not meant to be offensive. I loved my sister. So sadly & simply, they were. I had to grow out of fist fights and impromptu wrestling matches defending her as I grew up. I lost most of the fights. If the object of your humor is someone's religion (e.g. born and raised Amish), ethnicity, handicap, intelligence (by what scale anyway?) or ... I'm sure there's others... then find another way to be funny. It's really not nice or funny to make fun of anyone because of their beliefs, station in life, physical or mental limitations, in my view. But, apologies for being on the soapbox, and no one is perfect, especially me.
  4. Of course, if the itinerary is wrong, who would look twice at a cruise to unwanted destinations? Doesn't matter who is sailing it. But the "second third" etc is not useful or helpful to one trying to select between 2 or more cruise lines with equally attractive itineraries. Then I guess you just go with the cheapest cruise that takes you where you want to go?
  5. The ports, the ships, the food, the wine, the people we have met on board and on this site.
  6. Understood. Yes, you could have (really good) pizza for dinner, but as pointed out above room service is an option, as is eating at the grill on the pool deck with many great choices for a meal. Some folks just having fun above, which has turned out to be our #1 reason for Silversea - the people who are on the cruise with us & the ones posting on this board, who like adventure and experience as you seek, but add fun to those 2 goals. Another option is to wear a dark sport coat on the flight & for boarding, then wear it with dark trousers, and you will be able to eat wherever you want on a formal night, or any other. Oh, and pack a tie that'll go with one of your shirts. Hope your first Silversea cruise exceeds your expectations, as ours did not too long ago.
  7. Thanks for the great film DW, best 15 minutes of my day and the sun has set. As the kids around here say today, best stopover ever!
  8. Thank you, this is useful information as we try to understand where we stand regarding a D2D July European cruise this year.
  9. Seconds on the compliments on the video DW, enjoyed it and watched a second time with wife.
  10. Ditto @Lirio & of course the wine too. I'd open a bottle or two after your ordeal 🙂. Welcome Steve. Overachievers always welcome. & Thank you for your service in the Army, we're all on the same side for the past couple hundred years (Thank goodness). Need help from our Australian friends, a friend is visiting your country and sent the photo below The 2nd RTE item on the left has me concerned.
  11. Our first cruise with RCL coming up the end of March, on Odyssey of the Seas, looking forward to it! In spite of running a few searches, I cannot figure out if there is a guest laundry on board (it's easy to see laundry can be sent out for a fee). So, please let us know if you know. Thanks in advance.
  12. Looks quite nice DW, as does the meal. Thanks for posting...Jaipur is a pretty warm place weather wise, correct?
  13. yes, really a good song, and in time to help me raise mine
  14. The pictures and stories behind them have been remarkable DW. Thank you.
  15. I must say that those islands do indeed have unique character and charm, it's just not on display at the cruise port. It's up to us cruisers to seek it out. This probably also argues against the included tour approach, as independent exploration can lead to the best opportunities to experience a place.
  16. I'm thinking this is how it is around the cooler...
  17. "To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” JKRowling
  18. Musical interlude, young people doing the best version of the old Tokens song "A Lion Sleeps Tonight" I think the future is in good hands with the young people of today...
  19. Good night Anna and Holger. Your writings have been fantastic. I hope we may see some of Holger's pictures here sometime?
  20. Always a pleasure to stop by the cooler. Enjoyable & relaxing. DW, I'm finding your posts informative and enlightening, please keep them coming! JP, thank you for as always great pictures (with a glimpse of snow), and please extend best wishes to Chris for her birthday. Dr Ron has inspired me how to better explain our Nordic Trac upstairs & how we use it, although I will need to seriously consider Mysty's modification next year 🙂 Me too cruisinbanjo!
  21. These are wonderful to read. Thank you for posting. We have never been to Antarctica and were unsure if we wanted to visit, but your magical posts have convinced us to add it to our list! From your post: Keine deutschen Würstchen bitte. I had to look up a translation but I "get it" now 😊
