  1. That would require new contracts but would LOVE for them to go back to Port Everglades. The reality is I doubt the economics work...
  2. Cannot argue the logic, but something inside me cringes with a new build, doing short cruises and old iron doing longer....but that is just me.
  3. Royal has been busy on new builds and ALL big monstrosity of the seas. Galveston is Carnival's most profitable port. Huge demographics. Good point on New Orleans and adding fuel capability, not my knowledge base by a long shot tho. Possibly our resident expert can opine. I do know the new ships can use either fuel, but doubt that is the answer.
  4. They already have a sister ship. Are you suggesting they would get 2? If so, I doubt that. Two consecutive new builds in the same port....do not think so.
  5. Totally disagree, and I can prove it if you want.
  6. No, but that is NOT the problem. The problem is there are simply too many who do qualify legitimately. WAY too many. The drag alongs you describe (and it is NOT 100's) only add to the problem.
  7. there are still a lot of options then. I do get the smaller ship desire.
  8. Be nice to ahve a ship in SJ, even if only seasonal
  9. I do not believe that for a minute. The problem is in the numbers. way too many plats, way too many diamonds. Only one solution. Make a change
  10. Totally agree on all counts. Our cruise aboard Oasis, we sailed away and we were unaware we had left. In my view….that is not a good thing. I hate analogies, but from a sensation of movement, it is like flying on a A380. Carnival has made a conscious effort to embrace the sea in dining as you have mentioned. Royal has a totally different take on the MDR experience.
  11. Depending on what your taste is….. Smaller in your estimation is ….what size?

  13. Think I already called this (new order) a couple months ago….. but still nice to see. I would be shocked to see her in CA. Look for a surprise in home ports coming for this baby.
  14. Not sure i understand the question. the splash area is designed for just that, to keep the water in the area. Your feet will surely get wet, but soak???? I have stayed in Havana rooms on Vista class ships 8 times. Never had a water issue….
  15. All true. One cannot argue with RCCL success in these ships. At the price they cost though…..I wonder where we are headed in the industry.
  16. I do say that a LOT and do mean it. I am simply voicing my views. Obviously the popularity of Icon, and the ridiculous prices they are demanding attest to that. I am not sure I would sail her if the porice was discounted seventy percent….but that is just me.
  17. In my (what some would say) Jaundiced view, being this large take away from what is so important to us in cruising. That is being in touch with the sea and going to places that emphasize that.
