  1. Let us know your thoughts when you return
  2. Another prime example of why a large percentage of people should uses a PVP or TA
  3. Perception is an individual thing. It costs nothing to offer and nothing if it is turned down,
  4. Thats a view….possibly a jaded one, but a view.
  5. We recently (sept) had a group land trip we were leading to Portugal, France and Spain. At the end of the trip in Barcelona, we had a flight from there to Munich and then 2 1/2 hours layover then flight to JFK. The flight from Barcelona was early, everyone on the plane and get announcement awaiting final documentation and will be on our way. Nothing happens and captain comes on and says there is a “technical issue” and they need clearance from HQ (Lufthansa flight). Long story, but the issue was when loading bags in cargo hold, they found a “tear” in a inside compartment wall (no structural issues) that was approx 4 inches, but exceeded allowance (who at airbus writes up this stuff??). We wait and wait and wait and end up just making our flight in Munich (pulling an OJ thru the airport being leg by Lufthansa staff. The point is, at some point someone ignored to “allowance size” of the tear (it had to do with fire suppression between compartments). In effect, they did what your humor story alludes to.
  6. To be clear, I have no issue with that, was just replying to a post.
  7. I believe it is a program that tries for lateral swaps (an 8c on deck 5 to an OPEN 8c on 8 for a minimal price increase as you describe. I would agree there is a timing factor, but I doubt there is someone cherry picking these by hand, but much more likely a system that says on this date before sailing there are “these” rooms open and trying for a little cash to offer up a relatively better rom for a marginal fee. That is of course in addition to if a different class open up (suite as example) and offer it up to many on a first come basis for a larger fee (room charge). Simply an equation of supply and demand.
  8. Good point on the drinks when comparing to Diamind lunch. Agreed. Not sure why, maybe friends of Ken but know I saw Plats there.
  9. In for pay restaurants that they offer kids menu (similar to the menu in the MDR kids menu and staying ina Family Harbor room, kids eat for free (kids menu items only). If a for pay restaurant and they order from adult side they pay.
  10. For us, easily the best meail we have had at sea.
  11. So when we had this on our Legend Journey cruise, the following night we asked Ken as he made his way around the MDR at dinner.. According to the man, he started in a few years back as something “extra” . I know for a fact that there were some plats at ours, and they had three I think during our cruise. It is most certainly an addition to the Diamond luncheon. We absolutely LOVED the concept, the added touch (linen and white glove service, and the uniqueness. Ken said (I think) that it was only on Spirit class ships. I can tell you our other journey cruises (without him and sometimes on other class of ships, did NOT have this.
  12. We had a great Halloween cruise last year on the Elation. Nothing bad to say about her. Nice pics, enjoy the rest of your cruise.
  13. Falls right in line with their past problem sailings. There is good news there, consistency is a good, thing, it sets expectations.
  14. And this will also come to pass, that said you made the ananlogy.
  15. Typically the offers are fairly close in price and rooms, your experience may have varied. Do you doubt me that this is in place?
  16. Comparing those two (one is scrap now anyways….) I would take the horizon …. Brushing up my math skills….divide the square root of Pi by 13th prime number….mmmmm 99 out of 100 times, the other is just for something different.
  17. good question, we have a good friend who used to work for Carnival and now works for HAL. I will ask.
