  1. Thanks for the reply. Hope it gets WAY better.
  2. I have never heard or seen anything on contract length for Steakhouse staff, or even more generically mgt staff for kitchen staffs. I think, but have no factual basis to think that these would be a "team" approach, but never asked or were told. I would be interested to see what kind of replies you get. You may have mentioned it in your review(s) but I would be interested in the sub par experience.
  3. My last post in the subject at hand and I will move on. I am not sure why it seems odd. The cruise lines themselves have raised concern. Here is a link to one I just googled (there are many). https://www.thestreet.com/travel/royal-caribbean-and-carnival-cruise-line-passengers-get-a-warning. It speaks for itself. When these things happen, we should take notice. The reason they come up is that there has been increased recent events (see article above). Not every island and country in the Caribbean has these concerns or recent history. I never said I do not care about it. What I said is while they (the state dept) cry wolf a lot (and they do), sometimes we should take notice and heed. It appears I am not alone in this logic. Are there other islands and countries we should do the same for? Absolutely. I never said the 4000 escaped convicts were from Bahamas, we all know where they escaped from (Haiti) and what the concern area was (the DR). It was an example of things to take notice of and understand when traveling. I do not have a dog in the this fight (the specificity of the Bahamas and security). If you think they are at the same level and as every other island and country, so be it.
  4. I will move on after this post. Nobody buys a trip on Carnival because they say you can get a continental breakfast. Many (as in the majority) buy NCL cruises because they say 3 for free (which we all agree is not the case). I really do not care if people do that, if they think they are getting 10 for free and that is the reason they cruise with NCL, then good for them. As previously stated, the past CEO of NCL has changed the industry (we can debate good or bad, but really not the point) and this market scheme has worked, but he admitted it is what it is. Just stating facts, not attacking (or defending) any line.
  5. I do not care about the what and how of state dept notifications. If we did not travel to any place that state dept notified us on, we would not travel. The point is when something like this happens, we should take notice and precautions. 4000 convicts escaping form prison in a country with known serious issues is not a one off situation we should say meh to and dismiss. Murders and thefts on a daily basis (and in the daylight in open areas in the Bahamas) is not something to ignored because the state dept cries wolf on every island and country in the Caribbean and 2/3 of the world. Travel is and can be still safe, but to ignore and dismiss is def NOT the smartest thing to do. Just my 2 cents.
  6. While certainly not the rule, I have seen it done successfully. The latest was due to a medical condition of one party and honored (on a recent group we led and sailed with). These are one offs, I would be surprised if they started blanket exceptions, it would be abused horrifically if they did.
  7. I think the point is no-one is saying not to go, but to be aware. I cannot think of a place we decided not to travel to because of heightened security other than one (the Holy Land), But all should def understand and take reasonable precautions when traveling to some of these areas.
  8. People really think they are free. They are not, NCL advertises it as free. Carnival does not advertise breakfast cabin service, apples and oranges.
  9. Last CCL ship I recall there was Freedom, but that was a while ago. I cannot think of a good reason, other than another homeport, other than a place for EXCEL 4. As I recall, when we sailed Oasis, the Freedom was to the right facing the water. I assume that is where Princess sails from? Have not been there in some time
  10. Both were HUGE wins for America, Battle of Leyte virtually ended Japan’s ability on the seas. This was an amazing display of military might on both sides, probably the largest in modern day warfare. As you mentioned, the battle of of the Philippine Sea was a huge loss of Japans planes. Lastly, the battle of the Coral Sea changed the course and direction. All of these possible because we lost no aircraft carriers at PH.
  11. The one we enjoyed on the Bliss was pretty cool.
  12. Simply amazing. Big student of WW ll navel battles. Never will we see battles like those in both theaters, but specifically the Pacific. Esp since we took such heavy tolls at PH.
  13. Sorry I was not more clear in my first question, and thanks for the timely detailed reply. Where would the Magic doa dry dock for something like this? Stateside, Freeport or Spain?
  14. Sorry could have been worded better. The damage (appears to be outer hull) on the Magic from hitting the pier (or area where bumper fell off). Is it as simple as removing the damaged sections of hull outer plating, and replacing with new skin. Followup question, if so, does the Coast Guard or other entity need to inspect and sign off?
  15. Question: is it as simple as in dry dock cut out panels and replace and paint?
  16. It certainly would be interesting for CCL to cruise out of Port Everglades again. I did think of that, contracts take a while, but they have 3 years....
  17. One does not have to go far from the port area in Miami to be in an area that could be an issue.....sadly.
