  1. Is she booked in the same cabin as her Aunt/Cousin? Or booked with you but planning to stay with the others? She will register according to her reservation, but easiest to just plan to check in together. You can use whatever credit card you want for her, they don't have to all be on the same card. If she is staying in another cabin, she can get a card that allows for access to that cabin.
  2. Yes, there is always the possibility that they can't wait. But in that case, NCL takes on the responsibility of getting you to the next port. Rare, but it can happen. On the other side, if you are on a private excursion and are late, they might wait for you IF you contact the ship and let them know the situation. In any case, if you call they will advise you on what to do, whether it be pick up your passport at the terminal or continue on your way to the ship, they are waiting. That was info given to us from the captain at a Q&A session, so not speculation.
  3. Excursions are posted when NCL has a final contract with the vendor. So could be years in advance - for places that they visit year after year. Could be just a few months prior to sailing - or even never in some ports. The only timeline that I know of is that they aren't posting the post-cruise excursions (port to airport) until day 50 - for their convenience of course.
  4. I do this all the time to collect points, although not to that extent since I usually have enough credits already. I rarely use cash in the casino, always figuring I might as well use my card. If I bring cash, it's just money out of my bank account. If I use the card, I get the points equal to the service charge - so a wash in the long run, should I simply choose to use a statement credit. But pretty profitable if I use it for an upgrade. My last 2 upgrades were worth over $2K each. No bank/tax issues that I'm aware of, although you'd have to watch your CC limits - and the ship might have something to say about it - or possibly a daily limit?
  5. I have the same situation which is possibly why my NCL experience has been better than it might be for people who live near a hub. For example, they flew me direct from Quebec to Rome. But I had to get to Quebec first obviously. I heard lots of complaining from people flying from Quebec because they didn't get a direct flight. People that have to get to a hub first will usually get first priority for the limited # of direct flights that are available to NCL.
  6. Heck, just before the shutdown some of us got upgrades more than 90 days out! Family OV was sold out and they needed those staterooms more than they needed balconies. It was a great cruise, Tahiti to Hawaii, super cheap (I think I was paying a little over $2K, airfare included). Really sad when it got cancelled. And the transpacific from Tokyo to Alaska next month is also sold out, according to the website.
  7. I think it's more of a "we'll fix it because we changed the cruise, therefore it's our problem" in the examples I gave. Since they made the reservation, they have the ability to make adjustments. And if they make a mistake, they will fix it (been there, done that with them). But too often the complaints are from those who didn't read the terms of the contract. No, they won't change your flights if your friends aren't on the same flight. No, they won't change your flights if you suddenly realize that flying in the day of your cruise isn't such a good idea. No, they don't assign seats, that's between you and the airline. No, you probably can't upgrade.
  8. Well, except that relying on that middleman sure makes it easier (usually) when things go wrong with the cruise. NCL rebooked flights for those on the Getaway yesterday. NCL rebooked flights for those on the Dawn last month. And just speculating but I would think Miami knew about the delays prior to passengers, so could get started with making new flight arrangements while everyone else scrambled trying to rebook flights over slooooow internet. And I've heard of at least 1 person on the Dawn whose insurance didn't cover the new flight costs since the issue was due to a government mandate. So win some, lose some LOL.
  9. Try calling you PCC - NCL doesn't bother to tell anyone if the rep has left. If you get through to the PCC, let them know that you've been emailing. If your call goes to the "next rep" you'll know that your PCC has left the building.
  10. Typically upgrade bid offers are available around day 110. I just go to the plusgrade website and check there, don't wait for notification from NCL - which you may or may not get.
  11. In a situation where they think they can resell the OV, then it would make sense for the lower bid to win - but that's not the usual situation these days with ships sailing full. In your example, OV would also possibly win, since they can then upgrade an inside to the vacated OV. Otherwise, the higher bid would win. But not because of how much is out of pocket - that makes no sense, since they already have what you paid. If your BA room only held 3 and your friends rooms held 4 for example, that could easily explain why their lower bid could have been chosen over yours. Same # of passengers in each room? That also makes a difference. I stand by my statements - bidding is to get MORE money, over and above what's already been paid. But that also doesn't mean the highest bid will win either. So we agree to disagree.
  12. Yea, in theory. I requested FCC at day 111 and it was denied. Autobot answer - no price drop and/or increase in airfare. I replied with the correct facts (there was a minor price drop, air prices had not changed) - autobot answer was no, airfare had increased. Lesson learned ALWAYS do a screen shot!!! As to timing for requesting FCC if you don't have airfare, the last I knew it was 14 (15?) days.
  13. Best I can suggest is to clear the cache on your computer - it may be trying to autofill info?
  14. You are understanding just fine IMHO. There is no logic in thinking that the price someone paid for a similar cabin would have any effect in the bid process. In the past, there have been instances of early upgrades when a category was sold out because they wanted the cabin for resale but I think those days are long gone, as ships are sailing at capacity. Otherwise, higher bid gets them the most money, regardless of what you originally paid.
  15. Might help to say what "I cannot log in" means. Is there an error message?
  16. I use a PCC, it's hit or miss. Had a really good one, really went to bat for me on a couple of things, she got promoted. She "transferred" me to a co-worker, he was terrible and I asked for someone else. Very good, but took another job. And so on, I'm on # 5 or 6 now. A few things I've learned about working with a PCC. They get credit for any cruise they book - meaning they processed the initial payment. I don't believe they work on commission but do have sales quotas for example. So I usually do a mock booking, then call (or they call me) to finalize the reservation. A big hiccup I've found is that existing reservations do not transfer to a new PCC - and PCCs are somewhat limited to how many "other people's" reservations they can work on before they are subject to audit - no poaching allowed. Also, if you book onboard a ship, the credit for that booking goes to the PCC that booked the cruise you're on - no way around it, I tried! During the last Triple-Up promo, there were multiple reports that TA's could not add a 3rd CNC to reservations - the promo did say (as it always did) "new reservations". But if you were booked through NCL you could add a 3rd CNC no problem, assuming your reservation was eligible. Recently I called the general NCL number, on a weekend, to process a price drop and they couldn't get it processed. This was using 2 different reps + a supervisor! The issue was that I had a points upgrade, meaning they have to use the original cabin category for pricing, not the upgraded cabin. And yes, I've done it many times before, never any issues. My PCC, who had actually just booked the cruise for me, was able to take care of it no problem. The bottom line is that your mileage is going to vary no matter who you use.
  17. I don't drink so don't have the FAS package but I do order a soda (sometimes 2 LOL) with the Officer's dinner. Never been asked for my card.
  18. That advice could backfire big time. The tours might be better/cheaper but NCL excursions get priority for tenders, which sometimes makes a difference. Make sure you try to find info on what others have said regarding tenders for the ship and destinations.
  19. A 6-day cruise. Don't think there are any double-point short cruises coming up, unless you want to go to Barcelona for 4 days at the end of May in an inside cabin (all other cabins say sold out).
  20. NCL participates in Port Valet. It's a program run by the port and has nothing to do with who booked the flights.
  21. Or simply cancel the transfer, use PortValet, enjoy a FULL day in Seattle. Pick up luggage when you get home.
  22. While I personally wouldn't go to the airport that early, you can use the PortValet service in Seattle and your bags will go from the ship to the airport, next time you see them will be when your plane lands. So no issues with check-in or bags while exploring the city. Too bad other ports haven't caught on and offer the same service.
  23. CNCs have never had a purchase date requirement - that's only applicable to CFs. With the last triple-up, you could add more certificates through your MyNCL account, which may have been due to a glitch in the NCL system,as several TAs reported that they couldn't add them for their clients. The terms did say "New Bookings" but it's also always said that on the double-up offer - and adding a 2nd certificate has never been an issue. There are also new rules for certificates purchased after January 11, 2024 - terms say they can't be applied to existing reservations. As of now, I've not seen anyone post that they couldn't apply them but on the other hand, maybe nobody has tried yet. So to answer your question - probably, assuming you are before final payment and booked in a balcony or above. You could always add 1 now, the current DoubleUp (any cabin) ends today.
