  1. You are more or less correct. Domestic "savings" might not be worth the aggravation, unless you are flying at a peak time. But international has been well worth the savings for me, both in $$ and time. There can be so many options for overseas, especially from the west - I'm more than happy to let someone else wade through them all, haven't been disappointed with NCLs choices so far.
  2. I haven't seen any new info, so I assume it hasn't changed. I was denied FCC a few months back because of the airfare promo, even though the promo was still available. From my experience, it can easily be the luck of the draw, so no harm in asking and just hope you get an engaged employee rather than a robot that rubber stamps no instead of actually looking at the reservation.
  3. Alaska cruise on the Jewel in August, from Seward. $550 for OV, no solo supplement for inside/ov. 3 extra points (so 4 total). No coupon.
  4. Might be more accurate to ask if people got to their destination on time. If you fly in 1 or 2 days early, chances are pretty good you'll still make your cruise. Just depends on what info you are trying to find.
  5. As far as I know, the airlines determine the schedules. Meaning that the OP would have had the same choices as NCL with respect to choosing "allowable" options, had they booked themselves. So the airlines are the ones leading people to think it's ok. Just had this happen on my last trip home. Had a 45 minute layover in SEA, very tight. But allowed by airline/airport standards. Alternative was a 4 HR layover. I personally would have chosen the later flight but NCL did nothing wrong. Did I miss my original flight - yep. But I knew my flight to SEA was delayed, so rebooked on the later flight, no problem.
  6. Leading people?? NCL is giving people what they ask for - but obviously there is a risk. NCL actually pays people to take a deviation. But not everyone has the extra time or desire to spend an extra day. And I suspect that there are large numbers of people who book same-day arrival on their own.
  7. And rarer yet would be a post from someone who booked their own flights and then missed their cruise. I've been fortunate in that my NCL flights have worked out well, no surprises, pretty much flights as expected. But twice my return flights have had issues - and I was in exactly the same situation as those who'd booked the exact same flights themselves. As to using an "American carrier".... United cancelled the flight I was on from Capetown. And rebooked many of us for a flight 6 days later??? Although a 6day all expenses paid vacation was tempting, I found another flight, no different than if I'd booked it myself. And then there's Southwest...
  8. IMHO, the whole point of NCL air is that it can be cheaper. Why would any business, other than an insurance entity, take on risk for something over which they have absolutely no control?
  9. True, hundreds of people who have had issues post their complaints. Doesn't mean that there aren't thousands who are satisfied. And flight issues aren't limited to just those booked through NCL - but if you book the same flights yourself, you can't blame anything on NCL, so few posts from those who booked on their own. However, I do wish they would err a little more on the side of caution when it comes to layovers - or give options if a later flight is available.
  10. Not sure how you would expect 2 full days without adding an overnight stay. If you want 2 full days, you need to request a 3 day deviation and use the NCL hotel. Otherwise you will arrive sometime during the day, 2 days before your cruise. When you arrive depends, most of my international flights have arrived early morning - but you can always check to see flight availability. Lots of tour companies will pick you up at the airport, take you on a tour and drop you at your hotel.
  11. Never seen that on the NCL site nor has anyone previously mentioned getting a discount or mentioned a code (which I'm sure they must have). What is the discount?
  12. Still wondering where you are finding a Sr. Discount?????
  13. 3 day deviation allowed if you also book their hotel. Otherwise 2 days.
  14. Senior discount? Never seen that. As to solo discount, you have to first select 1 passenger in order for the solo cruises to show.
  15. By 2 days early do you mean leaving or arriving? The deviation is calculated on the day you arrive, not the day you leave. The deviation request should be on your confirmation, indicating the # of nights pre and/or post cruise on the first page, and your arrival date on the itinerary. If there is an actual error, based on your cruise confirmation, contact NCL. Not being on the same flight is not an error. Leaving early enough to arrive on the specified date because of layovers is not an error.
  16. Some people think using $2 bills for tips is cool. FYI -I'm currently the owner of a $2 bill because I agreed to buy it from a bartender in Buenos Aires - his bank refused it.
  17. Balcony rooms on the Star had USB ports in the bedside lamps plus 2 more at the desk. Can't speak to other categories.
  18. Some of us with allergies would prefer they not come at all!!! Been unsuccessful so far with getting NCL to offer an alternative -- or even a way to decline them.
  19. On my last cruise they would only reprice with the purchase of new CN certificates. I don't know if that's a new company policy or just that team.
  20. Onboard booking gives you an in-category upgrade for balcony or below. Sometimes there are additional discounts but not always.
  21. On the same cruise and, up until the last minute cancellation at Stanley, it was easily working toward being one on the greatest cruises of all time! (was actually in the theater, excursion ticket in hand, sticker on my shirt when the announcement came...so sad!). But still a fantastic cruise, for reasons already given. Buenos Aires airport and port, for future cruisers, are a little different. There is a port shuttle to/from the ship, no walking in the port- a real consideration if you plan to carry your luggage. If you are taking a NCL post-cruise excursion or using the airport transfer, they take your checked bags directly to the airport and you pick them up there, not the port. If you are flying out the evening your cruise ends, beware! The Gaucho post cruise excursion gets to the airport about 5 pm - 7 full buses, some 300+ people all trying to check in at the same time. And the AA windows weren't open yet as flights didn't leave until 9 or later. And for some reason, we weren't allowed to take liquids on the plane - even water bought after going through security. They actually searched everyone's carryon at the gate. And if you want the Gaucho post-cruise excursion, book early - heard there were 40 people on the waiting list! Venue is large but limited - maybe 300-350 people.
  22. Best to never assume! If they swipe your card the discount is usually applied. If they just ask for your room number it might not. If you book an excursion onboard, you MUST ask for your latitudes discount, it will not be automatic.
  23. Mine was on a sea day, day 8 on a 14 day cruise. They may have multiple dinners, really no way to know. Got my invite a few days ahead of time.
  24. Just off of the Star. Containers were labeled as Shampoo and Body Wash. So I would venture to guess that they have ditched the shampoo/conditioner and are only providing shampoo, which was clear.
