That's a steep price for not even 24 hrs in YC. My cruise in January was only $499 pp.

I still don't get why you would spend $500 for that cabana if you are in YC, but to each his own.

Possibly. I also believe that environment does. There are a lot of comments about rude behavior outside of YC on short cruises. The YC environment is quiet and laid back, and I think people act accordingly. In the other areas if there is more of a party atmosphere, things are a little more lively.

Not sure how not wearing a tie to dinner on a cruise ship is a slight to Caribbean nations. Some people dress formally, great if that enhances your experience. Some are casual. We are in between. I'll take casual dress over rude behavior towards the wait staff. And no, this is not addressed at anyone specific.

I think this is well put. I think that YC is elegant, but unpretentious.

Sounds like it is important to you that you dine at the same time everyday. When you get on board, talk to the Matire"D at the Aurea Mytime area. I'm sure they will accommodate you.

So I guess that MSC's good scores except for this one are a very good sign?

Or, don't. 75% of food illness does not get reported. I'm not trying to scare anyone from eating out, just saying that mass production and handling of food the place is not going to look like your kitchen at home.

So you can make a broad generalization over one observed instance. I re-read the entire report, the serious things I saw were that 2 of their coolers were not at temp. I would call these significant findings. Yes, it looks like the kitchen manager on this ship needs to tighten things up. This is the only inspection I have seen on MSC, it would be interesting to see how on average they do. There are some on here using this to say all of MSC is unsafe. I don't agree with that. Is there evidence that MSC passengers have higher food illnesses?

Somehow I think this post is about more than an inspection. By accounts repeatedly over and over on here, MSC ships are very clean and well maintained. My wife is gluten free, MSC has a designated kitchen for that to prevent cross contamination. They were the first line to put in new ventiliation during covid to help stop the spread of the virus. I have dealt with inspections, it can depend on the inspector as much as the situation. Sometimes more.

There's no mention of the hot buffet items not being held at temp, or the cold kept cold. You know they were checked. These are the main culprits.

Those are the only main issues. Storage temps are restaurant101, and must be followed to prevent people getting sick. A lot of the rest, looks like somebody got on the bad side of the inspector. Or a new inspector trying to show up.

Don't drink all the Belvedere Vodka. 🙂

MSC cruises may have a financially stable parent, but they have to support themselves like every other company. I agree that they were able to weather the storm better than cruise only companies, but they had to adjust their expenses as best they could during the slowdown.

Maybe these were ramp up issues and are already settling down. I work in logistics, and supply chain problems are now the exception rather than the norm.

I agree as well, just imagine the food that is thrown out on a cruise ship. You can't take it home like at a restaurant, which kind of justifies that you don't need giant servings on a cruise ship. Maybe MSC could communicate better that it is OK to order more than one of each course, if that is what you want. Maybe a hint from the servers.
