  1. The itinerary map suggests cruising Gaspe and Cape Breton before porting in Halifax.
  2. This sort of experience is becoming quite common for numerous government online applications. Checking a web page URL (address) to verify its source is prudent. Most countries use a reserved domain or sub-domain for official government sites. The US, for example use .gov. Any web site URL ending in .gov is a US government website. Canada uses .gc.ca and .canada.ca. The UK uses .gov.uk. Australia, .gov.au. New Zealand, .govt.nz.
  3. One bottle (750 ml) per guest of "drinking age". https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/onboard-alcohol-guest-policy
  4. https://www.unicef.org/child-rights-convention/convention-text-childrens-version#:~:text=The United Nations Convention on,and the responsibilities of governments. This convention protects children from illicit transportation (11 & 35). Requiring notarized travel permissions protects cruise lines from prosecutions and lawsuits.
  5. Perhaps it's such a rare event because of smoking rules and mostly diligent enforcement.
  6. Why are the reactions to the odor of tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke so diametrically opposite?
  7. How are the authorities going to be certain that it is not going to remain in the US? There is a way to transship products but it requires customs seals and paperwork. Have at it. 🙂
  8. If you want private communication with another poster, post an email address in a form that bots will not pick up, e.g. John Doe at domain period name. As @Essiesmom suggests, use a throwaway email address.
  9. Unless the game is on a US network it's unlikely to be available in a bar. But the game will be streamed by CFL+, https://awfulannouncing.com/streaming/cfl-us-world-streaming-service.html.
  10. Virgin has few 10+ night cruises, none in the Caribbean. B2B is of course possible. But I believe all Caribbean itineraries have one resort day. Otherwise Virgin fits the criteria.
  11. You'll want to avoid bucket list cruises like the Panama canal.
  12. No doubt. But lumping everyone willing to pay more than $30 for a bottle into that group is condescending and insulting of those that don't share your palate.
  13. It must be a surprise to learn that senses vary widely from person to person.
  14. I wasn't disagreeing with that advice. I was simply pointing out that using it for the itinerary was not strictly necessary. Not necessarily. A call to the emergency number of the US Consulate in Vancouver will establish what is actually required. US Preclearance at YVR suggests there may be some non passport options.
  15. A I have stated in previous posts, a) on the itinerary under discussion flying is not required, and b) exceptions can be granted in emergency situations. It is unreasonable to insist that a US citizen would not be able to repatriate by air simply because she did not have a passport. Some hoop jumping may be required, but it can be accomplished.
  16. In a medical emergency exceptions can and are made. Otherwise one can get from Prince Rupert, the Canadian port I believe, to a US airport using marine and land transportation. I'm all for travelling with a passport when out of the country. I even use it when flying in country. I just believe people should not be scared into getting documents they may only ever use once.
  17. US citizens cannot be denied entry into the US.

  19. Much more to do and better shopping in St Thomas. It is perhaps the most popular Caribbean cruise destination. Well regulated and plentiful taxis. Loads of excursions including some to nearby islands. Grand Turk is less busy with fewer excursions. However, it offers nice beaches as one walks off the pier and has arguable the best offshore SCUBA and snorkeling in the Caribbean. Certainly better snorkeling than St Thomas.
  20. The gratuity on "free" stuff has been Norwegian practice for some time. It is a non trivial amount for the "unlimited" bar. I believe around CA$28 per person per day.
  21. Why? Offering an explanation for scheduling decisions would be a non trivial undertaking requiring a massive amount of background. More importantly, it would not silence the questioning. Nor would it end the second guessing.
  22. All the speculation about current, wind, human issues yet no mention of possible mechanical or software contributions.
