  1. Check this pinned thread to see if any of it helps. Follow and notifications are a non-trivial subject 🙂.
  2. You should be able to configure the phone for manual control of date & time and time zone. In Android it's under Date and time in General settings. If you do turn off automatic date, time and time zone don't forget to turn them back on when you get home. 🙂
  3. Go to the end of the thread and post a hello. The thread is quite active. Try reading starting around A roll call is just a thread so like others on CC many interests can be mentioned.
  4. In my book a real pleasure of cruising is long, leisurely diners with interesting tablemates.
  5. Presumably stock has to be accumulated so that all provinces and territories can receive a useful quantity around the same time. Otherwise, who picks the first province? 🙂
  6. Booster shots are always available in ON.
  7. You may also want to consult your physician on the advisability of COVID and other boosters / vaccinations.
  8. I don't think of azipods as engines. My non technical mind thinks of them as propulsion. If a diesel engine was not in standby is it correct to presume it would take significantly longer to get to the point where it could be used to power a generator?
  9. LEAP engine output can be measured in kilowatts. Cruise ship engine output can be measured in megawatts. Depends on what is meant by "start". I suspect a cruise ship engine takes at least as long as a turbofan from a cold start to operational power.
  10. Classic example https://www.cruisehive.com/miscommunication-strands-more-than-50-cruise-guests-at-port/110084

  12. Read the cruise contract, (they are all the same in this respect), it is a passenger's responsibility to determine and obtain whatever documentation is necessary. Failing which boarding may be denied without compensation. Staying aboard in a port doesn't negate the need to have a visa if required for entry into the country.
  13. Just reinstating an FCC used for payment is a bit of a rip. Any expiry should be advanced the time between payment and cancellation.
  14. Out of 2,000 - 3,000 passengers I would not expect the Canadian contingent to be more than a few dozen. While a cruise line may be willing to exert some effort, ultimately it's a very small problem in their universe.
  15. What would be "mercy"? Having passengers lacking required visas could result in the ship being denied entry. The cruise line has nothing to do with the change and its very good lawyers anticipated such situations when writing the cruise contract and placed the entire liability on passengers.
  16. That information seems to be contradicted by the several videos of the search and first hand contemporaneous passenger reports.
  17. Porter is flying the E195-E2. According to Embraer the E2 cabin bins are large enough to allow storage of a standard carry on for each passenger. Porter simply says the overhead bins are spacious, https://www.flyporter.com/en/about-porter/our-fleet/embraer-e195-e2. We will have to wait for a user report, @LHT28 🙂.
  18. Apples and oranges. A cruise stop is more like an airport transit for connecting flights, not a country visit. A number of countries have different regulations for cruise day visitors.
  19. Only if you include a desiccant like Silica gel. Otherwise moisture in the air trapped in the bag may condense and be absorbed by the cover.
  20. If you are running a real-time malware scanner then you shouldn't have to worry about opening an attached document.
  21. Sure one can. It would be tough to go over the railing, but people can lose their balance anywhere.
  22. For the same reason thousands packed the Coliseum to watch the lions.
  23. If one is suspicious, scan the document using a virus / malware checker. Being paranoid, I actually do a couple of different scans. 🙂
