  1. I personally think these days missed ports supplement is an essential element to me of insurance. It would certainly soften the blow to receive money back to spend on another cruise.
  2. The added bonus with the Nationwide Current account that goes with it is that there are no foreign charges added for purchases and use abroad. I opened it up solely for cruising and insurance paid the £40 a year supplement. As a usual Cunard cruiser it’s useful because of all the dollar charges onboard. It’s great in port to buy even small items on your card and not be charged extra.
  3. Yes the baggage drop opens at 11 before that the pods will be closed and not manned.
  4. I always assumed that was the case. Thanks for confirming.
  5. As I solo traveller I also think that is a consideration that does have to be factored in. It’s a different experience and may warrant a different mindset. As I previously mentioned I recently had a week in an inside and decided it was probably my limit in terms of what worked for me. Over that I think I would prefer a sea view or balcony
  6. I took a box of chocolates too and allowed myself two each night.
  7. Are you sure she leaving on 18th. I am the previous sailing and don’t get back until 19th?
  8. How do they who has removed them and who knows who has been tipped? I can’t believe the purser’s office has time to investigate those who removed gratuities and then check who they may have interacted with a given a cash tip too. Another thread on here confirmed categorically the crew had no access to information regarding the removal of gratuities. I never remove mine and still tip cabin steward and wait staff cash as an extra. I think there is a lot of speculation here and little hard facts for my liking.
  9. I agree possibly adding another tier but so I don’t think the current tiers need to be altered.
  10. I can take them or leave them. I am not bothered. I didn’t attend the last one as it clashed with something else. I am not convinced that 95% passengers still want them. I doubt 95% of the people onboard if that is what the OP meant were eligible to attend. On my last sailing in June I was surprised how many red cards were about. So lots of new to Cunard onboard.
  11. There are plenty of You Tube videos giving full explanations. I have booked them several times including an up and coming TA.
  12. As a solo cruiser a land based anything sort of holiday has zero attraction from me. I have no problem with the current Cunard offering and will certainly be happily sailing in the future and have many different options booked until 2025. As an aside as a child in the 60’s I loved Butlin’s
  13. Yes if that how it is on your ship. QM2 last month was the other way round. Your card in your cabin will tell you.
  14. You would not have fixed table mates on open dining or the same table. As a solo I will only eat on my own and have no problem occupying myself in the evening. After a late dinner it’s nearly time for the show and that’s my evening done for me.
  15. Hi that’s exciting. It’s my understanding that check in times are allocated by cabin grade and deck number. Therefore it doesn’t matter when you do your online check is as the time has been pre-allocated and is non negotiable. Not sure about non Southampton check in times but here it’s 12.00 but you may not always get onboard then as sometimes boarding is delayed to say 12:30 or 13:00 if the ship is not ready.
  16. Definitely a no for Cunard or P & O not sure about other UK based lines but probably not.
  17. They don’t exist anymore. Years ago they did.
  18. Should be plenty of taxis . Only issue could be if ship didn’t start disembarkation straight away for any reason. Taxis are plentiful you just join a queue straight outside the terminal exit. Cost under £10. I personally wouldn’t walk to station but many do. Others on hear will tell you better what a reasonable time to disembark. I always leave later as I only live locally and just need to take a taxi to where I have parked my car nearby. Taxis take credit debit cards too.
  19. No issues you may not be able to board P&O until the afternoon depending on you allocated boarding time. It will be easy to get a taxi between terminals . Britannia is likely to sail from Ocean Terminal which is a taxi ride away from where R C use. If she is at Mayflower you may be able to walk.
  20. There is no price alteration with P&O or Cunard, the final price is the price you were happy to originally book with.
  21. I am a bit confused here. So if I go down in the pm and like the table I have been assigned on my card , do I have to go early to make sure I am not bumped by some else deciding they want it and have got there earlier than me and requested a swop. Doesn’t sound very fair.
  22. Probably to avoid putting dog in Kennel so outrageous I am struggling to understand to be honest
  23. I wouldn’t have thought ADA would apply as the ship is registered in Bermuda ? I know Canival Corp is US based. Doesn’t seem right at all.
  24. I got caught once sailing away from Gibraltar. Didn’t realise at one point we had sailed very close to Moroccan coast and ending up on one of their networks. Neatly £10 to send a few WhatsApp messages.
