As a solo for that long I would go for the balcony. I don’t mix or join solo events so to me it it’s worth having a guaranteed open space. I recently did an inside 7 nights on QM2 as it was a good deal. I decided that 7 nights was the max for me for an inside. Obstructed balconys are a good shout to save money. I’ve done well with them in the past. I also would not mind a deck 8 balcony on Iona . I have had one before.

I can’t remember which ship but on Embarkation day Golden Lion doesn’t close until 4 also doesn’t open until 1 I would need to dig out my old daily programmes . I have sailed on all 3 Queens so will be able to check later for you

I was wondering that too. I can’t see how it could be done either. Sounds good idea but would it work in practice I am not sure.

Exactly why I sail with them but that’s not the point of my original comment . I queried why the people with such negative opinions just keep sailing and don’t look elsewhere. I 100% get why people like P&O they tick all the boxes for me and I have never had a poor cruise.

Therein lies the problem I think.

Arrival times are based on cabin type eg Grills or then deck. They are not random.

The stuff at the terminals are not Carnival U K employees they are employed by ABP and in turn Intercruises and they would have no control over Security where others and I agree bottlenecks occur.

My remarks are aimed at no one in particular. I have completed questionnaires but have never found the need to complain or feedback any negative comments or make suggestions for improvements. I am normally a Cunarder but take a few P &O cruises when the price and timing suits. Last cruise on Britannia in May was top notch I thought and 5 stars from me all the way.

The problem with that I can envisage is that those who don’t get their first choice of an earlier arrival time as they have all been allocated, by the time they apply will still turn up early for the same reasons they give now as to why they can’t or won’t adhere to their boarding time.

I don’t think the fact the jeans are designer has any bearing, they are jeans and as such not really suitable. Often the short cruises are part of longer ones so normal standards apply. I do a few 3 / 4 nighters as I live so close to Southampton so it’s an easy fo me. I have never noticed a relaxing of the rules on any of them. I am also on that cruise and for me will be business as normal.

I got mine last month from Guest Services no bother. I also assume deck 4 and 5 are not marked as they are both accommodation decks only from memory.

One thing to note there is no single reduction for Grills suites so you would have to pay the cost of another two adults for another Grills suite . If you booked another non QG suite where you could get the small single reduction then she couldn’t dine with you or use the Grill only spaces.

What I don’t understand if P &O are deemed by some on here as incompetent with poor management and policies etc… why are they still sailing with them? If other lines do things so much better why not just sail with them and forget P &O ? If I don’t like the way a service is offered to me I don’t go back or use that firm again.

I think the saying “Be careful what you wish for” comes to mind here. That would be a mighty long queue from 11 onwards!! I reckon keep the status quo and try and make that work which it should if everyone kept to their time. From parking to taxis and ubers would be a nightmare with potentially 5000+ all wanting to get on early and arriving at a similar time.

Why is it P &O ‘s fault ? The Terms and Conditions of Shareholder benefits are clearly stipulated. Whoever you booked with should have made you aware that the booking would fall out of the scope of the Shareholder Benefit scheme. Perhaps ask them to make up the OBC you are not entitled to. I have enjoyed Friends and Family savings from both Cunard and P &O in the past and accept these bookings are outside of the Shareholders scheme because of their competive price.

The reduced rate applies to Friends and Family offers definitely but not sure what other reduced rates come into this.

You have to get off as the passenger count has to be zero. I am going on a Cunard arranged excursion for a few hours. You also still need an Esta.

I’ve asked for steak and chips on several occasions and never had a problem. Last month had a pleasant sauce offered with it too.

If Penguin have space . I would go with them. I am local and never heard of this new firm.

In U K can only move a booking once to a cruise of equal or higher value within a set time frame. If its really dropped that much a rebook loosing the deposit is the only option.
