  1. Thanks - but wondering if that area is publicly accessible on voyages - be great if it is
  2. How is the blog coming along Richard? How far forward on the ship can passengers walk? Saw people on the area in front of the main superstructur
  3. Or hire an automatic... we do have the technology - both my cars are autos, with excellent seamless shifts
  4. Just found it on the map - it's not far from Clarkson's Farm Shop, or Stow in the Wold (recommended). Not the part of the Cotswolds I know (further west is where I have been).
  5. We do have automatics now! And these days they are very good. Wouldn't for a moment suggest hiring a car in London though - public transport there is excellent (but not cheap)... but you may miss out on a lot of the Cotswolds without one - so many beautiful spots (previously mentioned, Bourton on the Water, Stow, Slaughters, Broadway, Chipping Camden) that aren't really reachable by public transport (I think there's a station in Moreton in the Marsh which is close-ish to Stow and Bourton on the Water). Broadway Tower (a folly) has a great view. Sudeley Castle (one of Henry VIIIs wives' I think). Roads there are WAY easier than London - good A and B roads. But you'll have a great time I am sure. Cotswolds are a lovely area. When are you going?
  6. A TA should be able to get you some sort of perk. Mine regularly gives 5% off.
  7. Cotswolds lovely but parts are like a theme park .. Bourton on the Water for example (though still worth a visit). Broadway likewise, Chipping Camden, Stow, the Slaughters. Cheltenham counts I guess and outside the Cotswolds you have Stratford to the north and Bath to the south which is well worth a visit (Roman Baths etc). Are you getting a hire car as not easy to get round otherwise? oh and Oxford and Blenheim before you get to the Cotswolds from London…
  8. Cheaper than my P1 to Q5/Q6 for 7 days. £640pp starting bid…
  9. Being longer than other Pinnacles helps.
  10. The bridge looks too low, or the front superstructure is too high…
  11. Sister ships supposedly, but QA is longer than the 3 Holland America ones (and will probably look better for it). More passengers obviously - 2996 v 2666 nominal (or 3353 v 3214)
  12. QV - 293m, Arcadia - 285m. the length of a bowsprit. If cruise ships had bowsprits
  13. Has she got the welcoming committee on board?
  14. Is she a bit ahead of revised schedule?
  15. Cunard are asking for bids on the QGs on the cruise I am on (at prices that start a bit less than the original differential - eg £1280 v £2k). The cabins all show sold out, but things change. If one came free and they had no bids would they offer a free upgrade - probably if there’s a chain of upgrade bids that could then be fulfilled lower down.
  16. We went QG TA, but PG would've have been more than enough. Have booked PG for our next QM2 to save £2k. PG on QA won't be as good, but it's 4 shore days and in June (54 days to go, not that I'm counting) so cabin will be used a lot less
  17. There’s a YouTube video of a review of one of those two. Indeed if you are a well travelled PGer they are hoping you will. The cabin change on QE/QV/QA is a fair bit more significant than on QM2 where PG is 75% of QG size.
  18. No because I’ve already paid for it. They are making £400 more out of me and not losing anything to anybody. And if there’s a chain whereby someone pays for the cabin I’ve vacated etc etc Cunard gain more. They only lose if the could have sold the cabin I move in to fresh to someone not travelling for more than the chain of £s for upgrades down the line. Or the auction upgrade chain gives them more. But they could be offering @NE Johnthe upgrade because they can fill the lower rooms to new passengers or auction upgrade passengers if he moves.
  19. If there are rooms available that no one has bid on why give the upgrade for free when they can hawk round to see if anyone wants them. Maybe direct customers get rung first at least - or it's easier to sell to a direct customer? If someone offered me a PG>QG for £200pp rather than the £640pp the bids started at I'd take it and Cunard are £400 better off than giving a free upgrade to someone
  20. I thought you were supposed to go early - one reason we didn't so we could have breakfast! However whilst waiting at the front of the queue there were a number of people walking past self disembarking. What are they going to do if you roll up late self-disembarking? Stop you leaving? Worst they make you queue...
  21. Had a slight issue with mine as the brokerage statement for April doesn't come out until May, so the earlier one was too old. But then just sent them an up to date screengrab of my CCL holding and that was fine Interactive Investor will send an up to date statement if requested though My CCL are in my ISA and only my trading account at ii has my details on so had to send both. All worked fine, and asked TA for an updated booking so I have proof of the $100 $100 for 10 mins work is a good return, but just goes towards the tips...(sorry, hotel and dining charge or whatever)
  22. If you tick the upgrade option you don't get a choice if they want to upgrade you (and those auto-upgrades would be free); you had a choice with the upgrade they offered so i guess it's a different class. On QA PG1 in 54 days - an auto-upgrade would be fine, but given the ship is full and they are accepting bids I doubt it would happen (especially given my lowly status). slightly tempted by bidding on Q5/Q6 at £640+ a head Accessible suite may be bigger too? I wouldn't miss a bath* (*note I do shower... )
  23. Assuming it's still light... is 8pm tied up still the schedule? Internet works fine crossing to IoW so should be fine...
  24. Are you LiveStreaming your visit Richard? I assume that at least a blog will be up tonight?
