  1. And it's really cheap advertising for them. Penny-wise, pound-foolish move if they're gone for good.
  2. Love the toes sticking out. What a cutie!
  3. I've searched and searched and can't find anything to help. Can someone please point me to the right place?
  4. Have a TA FLL-London getting there May 1 (total price <$2k for balcony). Trying to talk my partner into playing in Europe for a few weeks and taking Venezia back. The video is so beautiful! And the price is almost the same as one-way airfare back to the states. We're mostly Princess cruisers - does Carnival usually have a Valentine's Day sale?
  5. We ate there twice on our last cruise. First night, I'd give it 10/10. The sea bass was amazing, and the New York steak was perfectly cooked. A few nights later, still good, but closer to 8/10. Rib Eye was not as good as the NY. Steaks were larger than expected, and it was a relaxed, quiet atmosphere. We had an excellent, attentive waiter - same one both times (we asked for him). Can't say the same about many of the MDR waiters. Since they get paid the exact same for busting their hump as for giving mediocre service, I can understand their POV. Give it a try and then cancel if it's not up to expectations.
  6. TY for pointing out that it's the ship's first TA to a new embarkation place (NYC). Guess I will go ahead and book it. It's too good a deal to pass up.
  7. Previously we always booked through the lines, but have changed that since restarting cruising post-lockdowns. We should've been doing this from the beginning, but I guess the extra we paid has helped the cruiselines stay afloat 🙂 I have a quote from my agent (with whom we've booked two cruises so far and been happy with him) for a 15-day Carnival TA; the cruise fare is <$1000 for two inside. The quote says $800 Onboard credit. The fare is already almost $300 less than on the cruiseline's site. My question is this: How can a travel agency offer ~85% of a discounted fare in OBC? (Or is more likely a typo?)
  8. Exactly this. On our last cruise, desserts pretty much consisted of mousses and cake products. Disappointing.
  9. A little off topic, but check your email from Princess. Just got this: Use your FCC and take advantage of this exclusive fare from $279 per person – that's 50% off Princess Standard fares*! Sail roundtrip on Enchanted Princess® from Barcelona with stops in Marseille, Corsica and Gibraltar. To take advantage of this limited-time offer, call 1.800.PRINCESS or contact your Travel Advisor and reference promo code "UMA." Prefer to book online? Sign in ❯ and complete your stateroom selection on voyage N308N to view your discounted fare. It's Mar 23 for 6 days from Barcelona. That would be a really nice and reasonable B2B! (Shows up on the website at the regular price $553 and up.)
  10. We had several cruises canceled and it was difficult to keep track of everything, but I had thought it was all settled. I guess I didn't expect RCCL to send me a note about my "future cruise credit" when I didn't have any. And then to NOT have it accessible, but to direct me to search my mail for some non-existent email that had the information. Really poor decision, but I guess it got most of us to sign into our accounts. Maybe it's a gimmick to show website traffic to their stockholders.
  11. I've found that to be the case as well. We booked our English hotels months and months ago for our April transatlantic. Haven't seen them cheaper PLUS there's apparently some big soccer match in Liverpool on those dates (and then the coronation in London right after) so prices are ridiculous. The hotels didn't know beforehand that there would be that demand. Printed out our confirmations just in case they "lose" them in favor of someone who will pay 3x as much.
  12. National database instead of a state one (Homeland says it's not; ACLU says it is.)
  13. Official sources: Basic Pay: 2022 Basic Pay Table - 1 Drill Pay.pdf (defense.gov) BAH: Basic Housing Allowance | BAH Rate Lookup | Defense Travel Management Office (dod.mil) Again, if a military member E-4 or above is using foodstamps, they're not managing their money well.
  14. The Kimpton has an incredible steakhouse, but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Also, if you're normal sized, you won't be able to turn around in the shower AND the bathroom is so small that you can sit on the commode and touch all four walls.
  15. On our cruise last month, we tipped in cash for each meal (except for poor service), the room steward, the coffee guy each morning, the water delivery, and the head waiter (for getting us good tables). It worked out to a little more than auto-gratuities, but we got to decide where the $$ went. (And I'm pretty certain it went into pockets rather than a pool.) I didn't keep track, but guestimating that it broke down: 40% steward 40% waiters 10% coffee guy 10% everything else
  16. Thank you! We had so many cruises canceled (on several different lines) that I was having some difficulty keeping things straight. I emailed, called and waited for hours, and searched for the answer to this to no avail. I appreciate your letting me know that it was a mass email. I don't see any FCC in my account. Really poor thinking on their part.
  17. The Philippines, for one. Don't know about others, but 100% certain cruise ship employees from the PI are paying income tax. (I did not say US income tax -- but I'm sure most countries have their own versions.)
  18. Do you mean those that drive their new SUVs to the food banks while wearing their apple watch and carrying an iPhone? Yeah, anyone over E-3 on food stamps isn't managing their money well. Because they're "entitled" to it. (Speaking from experience.) E-4 pay = $2393/mo Plus BAH of $2142 (in a low cost area; higher elsewhere). And E1 makes $17,736/yr -- that's someone fresh out of high school with zero skills. Where are you getting the $1400/mo from? That's either old info or BS.
  19. Then they won't be "gratuities" and the employees will pay regular income taxes on them.
  20. What did you use to status match to Diamond?
  21. If I find a user's posts especially helpful and/or interesting, is there a way to "follow" them so I know if they've posted?
