Woe , it is only day 18 out of 274 and things are heating up on the World Cruise according to a post on my f b page .  A couple arguing loudly in the hallway and a woman throwing her husband’s wet clothes out of the washing machine on the floor and at the same time screaming I can’t live with him anymore.  Too much togetherness ?

Saw that, laughed to myself.  It's only a few weeks in and they must be on the full cruise if using the machines.  Long time to go yet.  Will be very interesting to see how people fair on the cruise.

We are home. Long day as I went home after they took her back to the OR so I could let the dogs out. They said the surgery would last a little over 2 hours. I came back after 2 hours and sat for another hour before they called and said she is in recovery. She had some pain so they gave her something and she fell back asleep for another 2 hours.discharged her about 6:30pm. So I’m tired. Got her situated with ice machine. It’s nice as they use the same one for my knee so all we had to do is purchase the shoulder harness so that’s nice. Hopefully she gets through the night ok.

Glad to hear all went well.

This not Christmas viewing but for the coming weeks - for anyone who doesn’t mind foreign language tv shows - Dear Child on Netflix (German) is an excellent thriller.

A woman & child are discovered in a remote forest location after the woman is hit by a car. Meanwhile, parents have been searching for their abducted daughter for the past 13 years.

@lenquixote66 have you watched this one?  I binge watched it all at once.  Couldn’t stop watching.

We watched that a month or so ago, good but disturbing.  Took us a bit to get into.

We started watching All the Light We Cannot See on Netflix.  Excellent.  We're through the first 2 episodes with only 4 episodes total.  From IMDB:

The story of Marie-Laure, a blind French teenager, and Werner, a German soldier, whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.

Watched this one as well.  We thought we done but haven't read the book to compare.

Last night we took our son Jonathan out to celebrate Linda’s birthday which is today so we went out to eat and then drove through a wonderful Christmas light display called Christmas in the Park.

Then something wonderful and unexpected happened.

Do you ever have a moment where you realize everything you do for your child gets recognized and that some of the things we taught them gets settled in their brain?

I was overjoyed as we drove through the display playing my Christmas music mix on the stereo and my sons says to me, “You know dad? I’m starting to get real nostalgic at Christmas time now. I am starting to really love Christmas music and the holidays are really getting special for me.”

WOW! A tear came to eye and Linda looked at me and smiled and winked.

Somedays as a parent you can say to yourself, “I did good.”

Merry Christmas my dear friends. And in case you messed it. Here is the link to download this years Christmas music mix. Enjoy!

    Happy Birthday Linda 🥂🎉🎁

Very touching comments from your son, I am sure he appreciates all you and Linda have done for him.  Isn't it great when they surprise you like that makes it all worth it.

Hopefully you both can enjoy your holidays without too much pain.  Take it easy this year.

This summer I started to crochet again.  I was never good, and never made anything spectacular (unlike @Keksie's knitting projects - wow!) but I don't shy away from trying anyway.  I found a pattern for a Baker's outfit for an American Girl doll, and decided to make it for our 9 year old granddaughter.  A few days ago I took the completed project over to their house while she was in school, and dressed and staged the doll in the outfit.  I would love to re-do the cake and the cherry pie, but I thought the hat, apron and oven mitts turned out pretty good.  It's all packaged up and ready to give her for Christmas, with this picture at the bottom of the box.  I hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed making it!

I think they all look great.  I am sure your granddaughter loves them just as they are.

Beautiful, April!  Love them!  Did it take long to make?

These were the last of 10 I made, these took about 2 recorded Hallmark movies total so 4 hours for the 2, the first ones definitely took much longer.

The wind and rain is crazy this morning. Fortunately, it isn't snow. Hopefully, the power doesn’t go out.

Stay safe, we had that weather yesterday.  Never lost power but did have a tornado touch down about 10 miles south.  Every device possible wrnt off with a warning.

These are really beautiful. I can barely thread a needle!
    April's got talent!😁

No needle required, they are squares of fabric pinned onto a Styrofoam ball.  About 200 pins in each one!

  7. Finished my last 2 ornaments for this year today while it downpoured outside.  These were the fanciest I did.  For anyone interested check out Ornament Girl.  She has many different patterns, most of which you need to buy, but this was a free one I got to try them out.  May buy one for next year not hard to do once you get the hang of them.

Also  I am honored to be part of a great home family as well as all my new found friends here on the best thread Cruise Critic has to offer.

    So for now.
For many reasons. Too many to list.

That’s another reason we fly , while drinking doubles😁

we watched a interesting movie on Netflix yesterday “leave the world behind “ great cast , very suspenseful, weird ending.

We can't both fly, our house in PA is in a very rural area so need a car, besides DH brings various tools back and forth in case needed along with various linens I take back and forth, no washing machine there so need to beung them all back to wash.  Basically too much crap goes back and forth to fly.   It is usually between a 10 and 11 hour drive.  I download shows to my tablet to keep me occupied.

Wellll, I can tell you which gas stations and Starbucks locations have the cleanest bathrooms along I 95 from NJ to Florida.....

@Luckynana pay attention, pay attention! 🤣🤣

My husband knows every place to stop between SC and PA, times his breaks accordingly.  We tried a new route on one of our recent trips, completely threw him off on bathroom stops.

Beautiful photos.    We also have these tours in my area.  I have never visited but a girl at work volunteered last weekend at one of the homes.    The pictures she had were gorgeous but no trees/decorations in the closets or sink   Is that a sink or a tub?   The decorations on the that tree are gorgeous.

The tree in the last picture was in the bathtub, couldn’t believe it, first thing you saw coming into the bath.  We had something similar in our area in NJ but never went.  This was my first year attending, figuring out how to get to all of them next year.

  12. I have recently joined a local woman's group and one of their big fundraisers is a parade of homes where local residents decorate for the holidays and others buy tickets to tour those homes.  I "worked" at one of the homes last night, making sure people behaved and only went to certain areas.  Since I was working didn't get to see most of the other homes but here are a few pics from where I was and one of the others.  From what I've seen where I was has the best decorations.

After seeing this I had to check things out. She is one of my favorite reviewers and has a great heart.  I am hoping that there is just a glitch and things are just being reset.  Here are some screen shots of what I found.

By looking at her last blog it appears her account is gone.  It now says "guest" wrote the blog.

When she is quoted her user name still appears....

Usually when you click on a quote it takes you back to the original post.  When I clicked this one this is what came up.

We can't say exactly why this is all happening.   Let's hope all ends well.

☹️ sorry to see this, I too hope it is just a reset of her account and not something more.

I've had a prescription for Shingrix sitting on my desk since my last doctor visit about 10 months ago.  I've just never gotten around to getting the shot.  After all of this Shingles talk, I think I'll make it a priority.  😬

That's me too, keep hearing the 1st shot isn't too bad but the 2nd can really knock you out.  Trying to find a time frame that works.  After these discussions may have to get more serious about it.

No idea, think its historic.  As I said it's being lowered from 01Sept 23 to 65, but us guys who are over 65 but below 70 will have to wait till over 70 which is a bit frustrating

Well that makes no sense.  So 65 year olds can get the vaccine now but you have wait?  Guess they don't want to worry about supply issues but still, crazy.

I finally got caught up on this thread.  I was preoccupied last week because of things going on.

It started on Monday.  We watched our grandkids, because they had the day off from school. Our daughter was at Cleveland Clinic to have a day filled with many tests.   After all the chemo and radiation, she finally completed her eight cycles of oral chemo last month.  It was a long day, and before she got home, she already had some results that they found a spot on her lung and liver that needed further evaluation.  Monday is a sleepless night.

They checked around, and the Cleveland Clinic in Canton, Ohio would be able to do the additional testing on Wednesday.   Tuesday, they call and tell her that they didn’t think insurance would cover the test.  Ok, we give her 5k to pay for the testing and have her keep the appointment. Tuesday is another sleepless night.

Wednesday, I drive her to Canton.  Prep and testing did not go as smoothly as it should have, but they finally got going with it around 5pm.  Drive back to Pennsylvania, and it was another sleepless night for everyone.

Thursday morning, and Susan and I were already talking about canceling our cruise in two weeks, depending on the results.  Thursday afternoon, the call comes. I am glad they prefaced their call with “It’s good news!”  No sign of cancer.

You can’t imagine the weight that was immediately lifted from our shoulders when we heard that news.   I know many of our friends here said a prayer for her and her family over the past couple years, and I thank you all for that.  I guess you could say that this is our Christmas miracle.

Woo hoo🎉.  You had me nervous there for a bit, I can imagine how stressful that would be, glad to hear all is good. Enjoy your cruise!
