  1. Nakkas Rug - Authentic Handmade Oriental Turkish Rugs and Carpets This is where we brought our rug from. Service was great with the obligatory tea, not pushy and packaged up for us to take home. Love our rug. Also the history lesson about the area was fantastic as well. Well worth the time and money.

  6. Sultanahmet Cesme Hotel We stayed at this hotel and found it great. Handy to all the places mentioned above as well as being wonderful to eat in the restaurants frequented by the locals.
  7. Sultanahmet Cesme Hotel Can recommend this hotel. Small and friendly close to the Blue Mosque and lots of little eateries all within walking distance.
  8. We did this but the other way and at the end of April. Was a great work and would highly recommend it. Our cruise ship had an included tour to Oia so we took that and then let them know that we would meet them back at the boat. Had a tour of Oia first and then off we went. Arrived back at Fira to have a beer (well earnt) and had no problems getting the cable car back down to join our ship. If there are long lines you could walk up or down rather than waiting for the cable car.

  12. Yes, and there is also an App which is handy during the day without the need to carry your daily with you.
  13. We have travelled on Viking and have had experience with all three options. We had one cruise where we had free air. Viking selected our flights for us and we had 24hrs to let them know if they were of. We had another cruise where we had flights at a discounted price. As we were using an agent at this time we were able to have the flight fare transferred to our agent who arranged our flights to suit us and if there was any further amount to pay we did so. And we have cruised without either of the above but asked our agent to organise for us as flying from NZ to far flung places of the world can be challenging to get things exactly right. Hope this helps
  14. You will need most likely need a jacket. The weather doesn't usually settle down to balmy summer days until February.
  15. We stayed at the Ink INK Hotel Amsterdam MGallery by Sofitel | Luxury Design Hotel - ALL (accor.com) and found it very handy to everything. Not sure if the pricing is what you are prepared to pay but it's a once in a lifetime adventure (it was for us). Enjoy
  16. When we were there in 2019 you were able to hire bikes from Yellow Jersey Bike Hire and take yourself off on a self guided tour
  17. We did this extension before our Passage to India just last month. What exactly do you want to know. Viking does everything for you - the hotels were wonderful, the buses only had around 22 people on them and we have made life long friends with some of our bus companions. You will not have to worry about a thing. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
  18. We have just returned (May) and had armed escorts on the coach as well as a police escort front and back of our coach which had to travel in convoy with others to our various destinations. Do not be concerned. We felt very safe.
  19. We did the pre-extension before our Mumbai to Athens cruise just last May. Had a wonderful time. We felt Viking did a great job. Visiting the Taj Mahal at 5.30am in the morning before the crowds was one of the many highlights (the hotel was only a 500m golf cart ride from the entrance). Highly recommended and so good to have all the arrangements and travel sorted. Hotels were fabulous. We did venture out a little on our own and found we could not cross the road without taking our life in our hands. The traffic was horrendous. Do it..

  21. We hired bikes from here Rent a Bike or E-Bike in Skagway Alaska! | Sockeye Cycle and had a wonderful time biking up and over the hill to Dyea and the surrounding area. Not sure if this is what you are looking for but you do get to be out and about in nature and away from the typical tourist trap.
