  1. While I understand that everyone is different, my wife and I have done two in excess of 30 days - 35 days round trip from Sydney to Hawaii and 31 days South America both in inside cabins. We have done most of our cruising in inside cabins as we find it difficult to justify the extra cost for a balcony cabin, particularly as there is usually so much room around the rest of the ship to be. With an inside cabin all you need it for is to sleep and dress - little else. Since covid however, because we are pretty conservative, we have returned to taking balcony cabins for the time being. However 'to each his own'.
  2. From experience, an important thing for you to do will be to declare that you have drugs with you. It is possible that you will then be asked to show them or you will be just asked if they are for your personal medicinal use. If you don't declare and they are found, then your problems may well start..
  3. Our next cruise is in December and we received an extra $25 OBC per person a few weeks ago, well before we got the email (just today) so knew nothing as to why we got the extra $25 when we received it. We'll take it though - it all helps.
  4. From my experience in Noumea the comment by Gwendy is correct.
  5. Thanks to those who took the time to look at the post. I think I have no found how to switch. For those who may be interested, it would seem that if you click on your profile in the bottom right hand corner it will take you to a screen where you can switch between cruises. Sorry if I troubled any of you. Cheers
  6. Have cruised with Princess many, many times (am Elite) but about to cruise again for the first time after Covid. Have booked a Princess cruise for later in the year and have downloaded the App and completed all details and am Ocean Ready. I don't know how but I have also been able to complete all details for our next cruise after this one. I am not very technically minded so I don't know how I was successful in doing the second one. My question is: On the App how do I switch from one cruise to the other? At the moment I am stuck on the second cruise. I have spent hours trying to figure it out. Would really appreciate your help. Many thanks.
  7. We need a little more information please to give you any help. What are the details? Do you mean Sydney airport or Sydney International Cruise Terminal? What is the address of the hostel you refer to? What are the times involved?
  8. Please correct me if I am wrong but I can find nowhere where it says I MUST have travel insurance to get on board. Yes, I note that for New Caledonia travel insurance is mandatory, but as a general rule on Princess and having had numerous cruises with them and some others already booked I cannot find where it is compulsory to have insurance. As I said, please correct me if I am wrong. By the way I always take out travel insurance but I do not like statements being made if they are not correct.
  9. That's a good point and thanks, but I have already gone through quite a few Ruby Princess roll calls to see if I could see anyone showing as being from Sydney or even Australia.
  10. Yes, I doubt that Ruby Princess will ever come back to Australia. I was just hoping that maybe someone from Sydney might be taking a cruise 'overseas' on her in the next few months.
  11. I am aware that the Ruby Princess is presently sailing overseas at the moment and I think it will be sometime before it is likely to return to Australia - if ever given its past history. I was wondering if anyone from Sydney has an upcoming cruise on the Ruby Princess. My wife and I were on it just before the outbreak of Covid and I would be asking for a fairly easy favour. I will give further details if there are any favourable responses. Thank you so much.
  12. Yes, I think it must be the ship's crews worst nightmare. We had a fire on Coral Princess in the Antarctic in January 2020 and I must say everything was handled very well with the captain providing us with updates on the situation about every 5/10 minutes. All in all it was handled very well. As the captain said 'this is what we train for'.
  13. The interesting thing about this sign is that I took it in Central Australia and one would have had to have been driving for hours before seeing the sign. Hopefully, of course, on the correct side of the road.
  14. Yes, Carol28. We need a lot more information about your plans for Australia before we can help you more. Many people do not understand just how big a country Australia is. It can take you 3 to 4 days just to drive across the country from Sydney to Perth. If you are just coming to Sydney, you could spend 3 or 4 days in and around Sydney without any trouble at all. If you want to go to other states, flying will be the best option, but once again we would need some idea of your length of stay etc. Just as a comment, flying in and around Australia can be quite expensive. I have not been on either ship but have booked to go on both in December and February next.
  15. Happy for all to retire to Queensland. I'll just remain in Sydney and enjoy it. Nowhere better!!!!
  16. Am I missing something here? I think I must be dumb!!! You said your credits expire in August. As I said as long as you book before expiry you then can take your cruise after expiry. Book before August - take your cruise in November.
  17. I think you only have to book your cruise before the expiry date not actually take the cruise.
  18. Yes, every cruise I have been on (both in Australia and overseas), the ship's time has been altered to align with the local time of the port.
  19. Happy Australia Day. Have just watched the Australia Day Ceremony in Canberra. Very impressive and what a beautiful setting on such a beautiful day in Canberra. Proud to be Australian - Please let's all be one.
  20. Up on an open deck where you can walk around from one side of the ship to the other. If you want the Opera House side you will need the starboard side.
  21. Just a follow up - Are the mini suite balconies on Caribe deck covered? Thanks in anticipation.
  22. I'm not sure you are correct here. My understanding is that for gratuities to be included in the price in Australia, the cruise must depart from and return to an Australian port. In other words I do not think your cruise from Sydney to Tokyo would qualify for gratuities to be included in the price paid.
  23. We did Hawaii round trip from Sydney 35 days a couple of years ago pre-pandemic. Good cruise. While we have done a few cruises which have included USA ports we will not do USA again due to the travel insurance costs - over $1,000 extra just to include USA. Yes, I costed out a few comparable European cruises (length of cruise etc) and the travel insurance was over $1,000 less for Europe.
