  1. We rode out a hurricane anchored in Tokyo bay on the last night of a b2b cruise. Princess was able to get 2000 people off the ship and 2000 new ones back on with airport issues, trees blocking roads, mud slides etc. We left a few hours late but it was amazing how they were able to deal with the situation.
  2. The point for me is that at $20/bottle I will not bring on wine.
  3. There is a nice youtube video showing how to put 150 people in a tender. The isles have been turned into seats and people are lining the walls.
  4. We were on an Iceland cruise and without Internet for the sea days. There was some sort of announcement about a refund for the internet. Nothing showed up in our account so after a few days I went to the PSD and asked for a refund. Got a full refund at $10/day for both of us even though we had the Plus package.
  5. The point of a perk is that it is of benefit to me not them. If I bring on wine, I drink less beer and cocktails (I do not drink coffee or sodas) and that is of benefit to them.
  6. The app functions do not require the internet acess purchase.
  7. I got curious and looked up lifeboat capacity. The answer (for the reasonable sized ships) seems to be 150. This capacity over the shuttle capacity is done by filling in the isles with seats so instead of 8 across, you can get maybe 12. That would give a shuttle capacity of 100-110. Maybe someone on a ship now could quote the number in the shuttle.
  8. There is a sign inside the tenders saying what the capacity is for shuttle and lifeboat. The lifeboat number is about 50% more than the tender number. Seeing how full they are for tenders, it would not be fun as a lifeboat. Better than the crew life pods witch you could put in the back of a pickup and are rated for (I recall) 120 people.
  9. The ship may arrive at 7am but often it takes awhile to get through the port formalities. The excursions tend to start 8-9 or 9:30 (check on your cruise) and then it is easier to get off. But, as Katidale said above, you go to a waiting area and take a number/tag to be called in order. Going to the waiting area early will help. The elite level is only 150 days. Or you could reserve a suite. It is best to not be in a hurry.
  10. Also, the first shuttles are all reserved for the Princess excursions and the elite/suite passengers so you are at the back of the line if you are going in on your own. When you are docked, you can get on and off as you please with no delay. But, if you have a nice day riding the shuttle in and out a few times can be fun.
  11. It will not be a problem if you do not mind waiting in line for a long time. 3000 passenger, 100 per lifeboat needs 30 trips. They run more than one shuttle but it depends on how far out you are. We have stood in line for hours at various stops.
  12. The water shuttles (lifeboats) take forever get all the passengers off and back on. If you have 3000 passengers and the lifeboat hold 100, you need 30 trips. Lines can be hours long.
  13. The medallion has a serial number. All information related to that serial number is in the ship's computer. So it knows your drink package, your room, your picture etc.
  14. When we were shopping for a refrigerator, most of the sales people were prepared for that question. If you put enough stuff on the refrigerator door, it is hard to see that it is stainless steel though.
  15. No, the point is that if I do not bring any wine on, I drink Princess's wine. They pay for that. If I bring my own wine on board, then they save money since I do not drink their wine. I know that their wine is the $5 a bottle version but it is still cheaper for them to not have to serve it to me. I want to bring on wine with no corkage fee.
  16. Well I could send a picture of a group of medallions stuck to our stainless steel refrigerator along with 50 or so refrigerator magnets. It is not slightly, it is very strong. The ferritic stainless has a of chromium while the austenitic does not.
  17. How about allowing us to bring on our own supply of wine without charge? Maybe limit it to those who have the beverage package so this "perk" would actually save them money. I would prefer to have wines of my choice.
  18. But the maintenance supervisor said that all ship balcony doors worked just like this. I did get some exercise walking down the stairs to the PSD several times to discuss the issue.
  19. It clearly says that is ok. The time limit is on the primary series.
  20. We have had good luck with EZair. This time we paid early so we could choose (and pay for) upgraded seats. Checking regularly is a good idea. Our flights have been changed twice so far and they are only one way.
  21. I understand about the roller but on our door you could hear the weatherstripping break loose. You also needed to shove the door hard towards the outside to get it to break loose. Slid fine after that first inch.
