  1. Oh yeah, didn't Jacqui get to light the torch once? Someone had a photo and posted it. Hope we get to see that one again. Happy early birthday to you too! How funny about Bruce @aliaschief's wife having the photo taken with Patrick and getting a little handsy. I'm trying to figure out his expression that you mentioned.😉
  2. Jack, what darling photos of your DGD Lily! She was dressed for the occasion, that's for sure!🍎 Glad you got a chance to babysit. Also congrats to your DD and her hubby on their new home. Bon Voyage, and hope your cruise is a safe, healthy one.🚢
  3. Ann @cat shepardwhat a shame about your friend's house but I'm glad a few things could be salvaged. Wishing them patience as they deal with FEMA and their insurance company! Jacqui @kazuis your new cruise the one out of San Diego that you had problems getting flights for? Whatever it is , it's good to hear you are doing this cruise spontaneously which can be great fun. Thank goodness you spoke up about that parts bill they wanted to stick you with, and got it all taken care of free of charge. 👍 Thumbs up reminds me, Gen Z doesn't like boomers using thumbs up emojis as well as a few others like ❤️. No idea why on the heart but they think thumbs up is menacing. Huh? Dixie @summer slopeI hate to hear your doctor is being resistant to the malaria meds. I just saw the PA not the doctor and she didn't have a problem with it. I told her what we had prescribed in 2018, and even showed her the packaging I still had. I'm not going through our health insurance to pay for it, because I looked online at GoodRX and they could save me lots of money for the prescription. Like half price! GoodRX showed me the cheapest pharmacy here would be Kroger and I had her send the prescription there. Yesterday we went to Kroger for groceries and I spoke with the pharmacy. She said they could do better than the GoodRX price by about $4 so we would go that route. However, she said the prescription wouldn't be ready until 6 pm. When I called last night to see if the prescription would be ready today if we go out, and they said after 3 pm today. ?? Why the delay I don't know but we will go there in a few days time to pick it up. No wonder the Yelp reviews for the Kroger pharmacy rate them as 1 star! Anyway, when I had the prescription written up I had the PA double it so DH and I both had our pills to cover us. I figured about 20 per person - start a few days ahead of time, then about 8 days on the Amazon, then 5 to 7 days afterwards. I hope you get that all straightened out soon!
  4. Joy, happy birthday this week! I hope you will enjoy the weeklong celebration with your sister and all your friends. Sounds like you have a lot of fun activities to look forward to. I'm glad your sister's surgery is over with and she seems to be recovered enough to get out and enjoy some time spent with you. Thanks for those cute memes, too!🎂
  5. Good morning friends! It's another 45F morning but will get up to 80 and sunny today which is great. Thanks Rich @richwmnfor posting our Daily while on your cruise. We so appreciate it! I like sweetest day, and white cane safety today. Pugs are cute. The menu suggestions sounds interesting. I've learned to like brussels sprouts as an adult so would try the dish. Thanks Tina @0106for filling in for Debbie. I like the quote, and would try the wine. Thanks also to Roy @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists. Prayers this morning said for our Care list and all the others suffering after the hurricanes and those in Ukraine. Cheers to those on the Celebration list. Gail and Marty will have to plan a few more cruises now that they're home from their extended cruise. A shout out to Terri @Cruzin Terriand her DH who moved on up to the penthouse. Sorry you had to go through the lack of AC for a while though. Today's port of Bora Bora is a great one and many of us here have enjoyed it. It was posted here first on Nov. 30, 2021 so here is a link for those who want to get their photos to post here. I've determined we went to Bora Bora twice, once on Golden Princess in April 2014 and again on Maasdam in April 2017. Each time we went on Patrick's tour which is a MUST when there. It was absolutely perfect and you can see how beautiful the water is, the motu was outstanding, the sand is so powdery that his crew of helpers were washing with the sand at our swim stop. Yes that was wet sand he was using. It's so soft and fine, like baby powder! Look at all the fun folks were having. Patrick is a brave man! The view across from Patrick's private island or motu. Someone took our photo there in Paradise! Some people like to eat sitting in the water And others on the shore in the shade of course. Lunch! But more importantly, plenty of WINE and champagne! And people enjoying snorkeling and seeing the fish. Here's a stingray. A wonderful way to spend your time in Bora Bora.
  6. I'm happy to report that the guard "shack" at our community entrance has finally be repaired and the guest traffic lane has reopened. The last 9 1/2 months it has been closed since the drunk driver drove into the building killing the security person working overnight, may he rest in peace. There were lots of delays and red tape, lack of windows in stock, plan approvals, permit delays. The resident traffic lane is back to residents only! One interesting change is there are three huge boulders blocking the front of the shack with nice plantings/landscaping softening the look. No one else will be able to drive into the front of the building ever again! Unfortunately with the afternoon shade and the sprinklers watering the new sod you can't see the full extent of those 3 boulders. They are several feet tall and about 5 feet wide (each) so they should stop a vehicle unless they are airborne! This is an HOA photo and not mine. So happy to put this incident behind us, and I hope the drunk driver will pay for his actions.
  7. I'm very sorry to hear of your co-worker's decline. Prayers for an easy transition for Fran and for her family and friends. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiserthanks for the update on your DH's progress. I hope things will be a little easier each day. Take care of yourself! Also, thanks for your photos of Ensenada.📷
  8. Kathi, so sorry to hear about your positive test. I agree with asking about a PCR test if possible to confirm since you have no symptoms at all. I hope you are negative on the 20th so you don't miss much of your cruise. We also remained Covid free for 2+ years until we went on our first cruise since 2020. That was this June on Island Princess. We were not released until a negative test and that took 8 days for me and 10 for DH. Unfortunately they quarantined us in an oceanview room in a designated Covid "wing" instead of our own balcony cabin We weren't terribly sick, just minor cold-like symptoms, but it did get boring just sleeping, eating, watching TV, reading and doing Sudoku all day. Fresh air would have helped I think. Please keep us updated on your days anyway. It helps to have people supporting you and we want to do our part in that.
  9. Oh no! I guess this means 13 fallen officers this week since MONDAY. Devastating news. I agree with you and your mother Annie. That's not being radical. At one point in time, the punishment for killing a police officer was so severe few dared. Now? Thank you so much for finding this again. It's very special.
  10. You're welcome @crystalspin! We need to send off for OBC for our February Princess cruise now that I think about it. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for all the information you give to others here on the HAL board. You're a big help to many people here.
  11. Good morning friends! It's a chilly 45F but will be sunny and 75 later on. Next week we will see some lows in the 30's which is shocking! I want fall to stay and winter to stay away until at least January. Thanks to Rich @richwmnfor the Daily and Fleet Report. Hope you are having a wonderful time on that cruise Rich along with all the other Dailyites. We did have a bald day recently but Be Bald and Free sounds fun for some. (please not me!) Love my desserts, and am a fan of eggs too. Another salted fish menu suggestion. I have to pass on that. The martini sounds okay but I don't know about the wine. Ensenada, Mexico is a stop on many Hawaii cruises. I've been there twice on Princess Hawaii cruises in 2007 and 2009. Many people don't even get off the ship! This is the first time Ensenada has been our port of the day. Thanks Roy @rafinmdfor the Care and Celebration lists. I'll have your alternate menu suggestion though! It's sad we have to even discuss the wave of police killings. I heard yesterday that there have been 12 police officers killed since MONDAY! All due to anti-police rhetoric and "progressive" district attorneys/prosecutors and judges. This has to stop! Prayers for all of the fallen police officers and their families and colleagues. Prayers also for the remainder of the Care list, my neighbor Linda who is still not home, and the people affected by the hurricanes and the attacks on Ukrainians. Cheers to the large group of Dailyites on cruises, and others celebrating good news. A few photos from my 2007 Diamond Princess stop in Ensenada. The huge flag we've all seen when our ship docks there. Acting silly as we strolled the streets And a seal playing on the shore near the ship Have a great day and please be safe!
  12. She is doing the Grand Africa which goes all around the continent in a clockwise direction.
  13. Jack, it's not always possible to get to a funeral, due to too short of time, or health issues. Everyone knows you'll be there in spirit and prayer. I feel the same way about my dear sister who passed. She'll always be my big sis. 😢 I heard that this morning too. There are way too many losers out there who have no respect for the law, especially those who are trying to enforce it. Prayers for them and their families.🙏 Happy Birthday wishes to you Vanessa! Nice gift. Is today the actual date? So glad your roof was finished in time.
  14. Joy that's hilarious that 7 of your friends showed up a week early for girl's night! It was a good idea to just have a mini party, sort of a trial run for next week.😁 Here's another photo of Ellie (Elliott Rose) for you. I'll have to ask for new photos of her to see how she looks this week. They change so quickly!
  15. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiserthanks for the update on all the hospital happenings yesterday. I hope your DH (Steve?) had a comfortable night and you got plenty of sleep too. You have a big job as caregiver and need to take care of yourself as well as him. You're both in my prayers.🙏
  16. Good morning friends! It's been thunderstorming this morning, temp at 62 but the rain will stop in the next hour and we will have sunshine later on. High of 77. I just saw Connie @msmayorposted and is doing well. Thank goodness we've heard from one of our missing people. Show us a photo of Lana if you don't mind sharing. Thanks Rich @richwmnfor the Daily. Happy birthday to our U.S. Navy! Once in a while I'm a skeptic. Don't know what suit up day is, and try not to say silly things. No thanks to the drink, wine or menu item. Thank you Roy @rafinmdfor the updated lists this morning. Prayers already said for those on our list and my own personal list. A shout out to all on the Celebration list, and it's a long one. The port today, Malaga Spain, is a very popular one with our Daily family. Here's a link to the last time we celebrated it, July 19, 2021. We had lots of photos that day and the Daily ended up 8 pages long. Come on everybody share your experiences there as well as your photos. I've been to fabulous Malaga three times and have a "few" photos of that scenic locality. Our visits to Malaga took place in 2017 on Westerdam and in 2018 and 2019 on our beloved Prinsendam. The first time I took a tour of the fortress with views of the city and the bullring. You can see the bullring and the Westerdam in this photo from 2017. The next two visits were self-led walking tours and there is plenty to see, believe me! One of the most vivid hued buildings is the Episcopal Palace. This spot is called the Plaza del Obispo. If you look to your right when standing in that same spot you see this, the Malaga Cathedral's side entrance. Inside the Malaga Cathedral. They mark everything quite well due to the amount of tourists they get here. Since the 2017 visit was in August it was pretty hot, so we were relieved to see they covered the pedestrian street with sheer cloth-like overhangs. A truly enjoyable city to visit.
  17. Good late morning friends! I had an early appointment with the PA, and was called in over 35 minutes late. I hate sitting around doctor's office waiting rooms. We discussed things like flu shots, Covid boosters, and a prescription for malaria pills. She advised me to see an orthopedic to see if they could shed some light on this knee problem I have. So that would be my next step. We're looking for thunderstorms this afternoon. It actually showered lightly on me while driving downtown to my appointment. There went the clean, freshly waxed car DH spent so much time on! Thanks to you Rich @richwmn and Roy @rafinmdfor the Fleet Report and Daily, along with the Care and Celebration lists. What a great group of days to celebrate! I have quite a few cookbooks but my 53 year old Better Homes & Gardens red and white checked cookbook is my favorite. A salute to ER nurses, and every other type of nurse as well. I honor old farmers since my Grandpa was a farmer. He raised black angus cattle on his 316 acre farm in SE Missouri. My siblings sent me some photos this summer and one was an old photo of the farm. Grandpa also worked for what they called back then the Forestry Service as a fire spotter in a tower on a mountain near his farm. In addition he was a weather watcher for the Weather Service providing daily rainfall totals for 35 years. Here's an old photo of the homestead on the far right and the barn with the rocking X brand painted on the front of it. The outhouse is not in the photo! LOL! Prayers for all on the Care list, especially to Jack @Heartgrovefor the loss of his older brother. May he rest in peace. Also Melisa @HAL Sailer I'm sorry to hear of your DSIL's melanoma progression. I hope the treatments help to prevent any more spread, and wish you a safe trip to visit her in the near future. Congrats to all with good news and having great cruises right now. I like how long the Celebration list is though it can't be easy to keep up with us all. So thanks again Roy! The port of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, France was port of the day June 5, 2021. Here is the link to that date in case someone wants to import their photos to this thread. Thanks for the photos shown so far! It's noon now so time to get this posted. Have a good day y'all!
  18. Thanks, she is beautiful! One correction - that is Grandma and baby. Of course Lisa would be happy to take the little one home with her but I doubt her DS and DDIL would find that acceptable. LOL!
  19. Thank you Joy! I have a couple more photos of baby Elliott Rose but will spread them out this week for your viewing pleasure. 😁 Terry, I feel so badly for Tana when she has these breathing issues. Not being able to breathe properly is no doubt a terrifying experience. More prayers for her! What an adorable photo of Camilla! That is quite a fancy ride she has there! Not only a cover for rain, but it can be pushed while she enjoys the journey. Jack, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss today, even though expected. Thankfully his son and wife were with him. Prayers for comfort for you all.🙏 Lisa was born 4 or 5 months before I got married and attended both the wedding and reception. She does look young for her age. She only has one child so is no doubt hoping for DS to provide her more grandbabies as soon as possible.👶 I checked and Malarone is generic for pills we took on our Grand Med and Africa (Prinsendam) in 2018. Atovaquone and Proguanil Hydrochloride tablets. We still have about 2 dozen left but they are past expiration now. Will take the package with me to see her and talk about what to take. Thanks for confirming what your friend recommended.
  20. It looks like they were taken from the Port Everglades webcam located at the condos at the entrance to Port Everglades. https://www.portevergladeswebcam.com/
  21. Good morning friends! It's a bit cloudy this morning, was 55F at daybreak and will only be 77 as a high temperature. We may finally have some rain in our forecast. It will probably fall tomorrow because I have an appointment with my PA to go over any progress made on my knee issue. Will also discuss Covid boosters and possibly malaria pills for our November cruise. Thanks to Rich @richwmnfor our Daily and Fleet Report. Nice to see girl children, parties, and the first female computer programmer honored. Amazing when you see how long ago Ada Lovelace was involved in the programming field! The quote is excellent and the carrot pea chicken salad sounds unique. I might try the margarita but not sure about the wine. The port of Half Moon Cay is a great beach stop even if you don't like beaches. I've only been twice but have another stop there on our way "home" to Florida in December. Last time we had that port listed here was June 28, 2021 and I'll post a link to Rich's post that day. I noticed I didn't even get to post on June 28 so had no photos from there. I realized we were in St. Louis going to soccer games every day during that time period. So here are a couple of photos from our first time there in 2016 on Westerdam. We parked ourselves under some trees in front of this lovely cabana/beach house. @puppycanducruisesince you asked, and it IS Day of the Girl Child, another photo of Elliott Rose with her Grandma Lisa, who is my niece and goddaughter. ❤️ Thank you Roy @rafinmdfor mentioning Camilla and Elliott Rose on this International Day of the Girl Child. In addition we all appreciate your work compiling the Care and Celebration lists each day. Prayers for all on the Care list and cheers for those celebrating. Hope all are healthy and enjoying their cruises. Special prayers for Lenda's DH as he goes through his procedures today. Hoping for good news from Lenda ASAP. 🙏 Have a wonderful day!
  22. Thank you for perservering at your way behind sail away. Not easy to do when it's dinner time. By the way, I and probably others here were waving back at you. Have a great cruise! We were booked on this one but delayed it until 2023.
