  1. Not the winches used for the lines? when they are active they have a certain noise to them. I’d have thought you’d have heard them in every docking / undocking procedure however.
  2. 6th April Barcelona to Southampton? We’re in this cruise too, and from what I can tell she must be in dry dock for the few weeks before this as there’s a huge gap in her itinerary. Wondering what this cruise will be like! The deal we got for it was too good not to sail!
  3. Equasis is generally a well respected database and usually quite accurate. But it can only be accurate based on information provided. It could be that Legend is just a holding name at the moment, it's not uncommon for new build ships to be called something in the build process that doesn't reflect their final registered name. Until Royal Caribbean actually confirm the name, it is complete speculation and I wouldn't be surprised if Legend is not the name of the ship.
  4. they have hooks for hanging up coats etc that are magnetic.
  5. I saw Coldplay at Bergenhus 16 years ago. Fish market is always worth a look!
  6. Turn around day, as in you need to get back to the ship by 3.30pm day? I'd not risk IOW. British public transport is horribly unreliable. Save that for the end of your cruise if you have time. Portsmouth would be achievable, as worst case public transport let you down, a taxi would only be 30 mins.
  7. Check they aren’t being saved in the HEIC format. Apple seems to like to default to this and it causes issues if where you are uploading them too only likes JPEG.
  8. It also includes bottles of water, soft drinks and specialty coffees. very easy to get your monies worth.
  9. With only 10 hours in Shetland, Mousa was a fantastic choice. I grew up in Sandwick. Saw that island every day. Only took me coming back home after travelling around the world to realise how lucky I was to grow up there. was in the Caribbean last month on Icon. It might be considerably warmer, but none of the beaches were better than Shetland beaches.
  10. it’s unrealistic in the sense there is very little crime. And there’s some continuity issues. But the scenery, the scenery is all as you see*, so from a tourists perspective, you’ll love it. * some scenes filmed in Greenock near Glasgow - but none of the clearly island scenes!
  11. Shetland… my home! Enjoy. Always nice to get the perspective of visitors to the isles.
  12. On Icon last month, every time I went into public restroom there was an attendant. there was constant cleaning. Have they put all their effort into Icon at the expense of the older ships?
  13. Captain Kate's latest YouTube video from yesterday has them in St Thomas next to Icon of the Seas and Captain Teo Strazicic, her mentor, features. So he's current captain!
  14. That's not terrible considering the delay. The Lions Gate bridge is a bit of a problem for cruise ships this size. It's missed the low tide on the way in which has added to the delay, but thankfully because it was waiting for the low tide on the way out anyway, your itinerary isn't too messed up. Vancouver has a bit of a longer term problem as cruise lines make their ships bigger. They can't homeport there because all their schedules have to rely on the tides. Which is a shame because it's such a lovely port! I hope your DS enjoys their cruise.
  15. B2B back to back means two cruises in a row on the same ship. Nothing to do with the docking arrangements for ships.
  16. It's a shame they can send her to Europe, do the dry docking first, then commence the summer season in Europe. Instead they do the summer season with a ship that desperately needs a bit of TLC first. I watched her leave Miami last month, she's in desperate need of a paint!
  17. The Syemour Narrows between Vancouver Island and the Mainland are a bit of interesting water. The tide is often too strong for cruise ships to transit, so they need to wait till slack tide, which of course is ever-changing. So sometimes they rush out of Vancouver at full speed to make it to the Narrows in time, other times they have a leisurely sail out of Vancouver and then have the pedal to the metal afterward to make it to Juneau in time. Looks like Radiance had a fairly relaxing sail up to the narrows and is now full speed ahead!
  18. It only became available to us about 2 weeks before sailing in April. We saw the Aqua show, Wizzard of Oz and Elemental (the ice skating). all three were incredible. You won’t be disappointed!
  19. so not a drone from land then! Could have been someone on the ship I guess, but I don't fancy my chances of landing an expensive drone on a small bit of deck out at sea on a ship that's moving at around 18kts.
  20. Were you near land? Wondering if it was someone flying off the side of the ship - I'm fairly certain they are prohibited. Some people do wild things with drones near cruise ships. Not sure what the law is elsewhere, but I've seen loads of videos on YouTube of people with drones near cruise ships that would be very much against the law here in the UK. When we were leaving Miami on Icon last month there were 5 engine powered paragliders getting very close to the ship. The captain was not happy, a fair few blasts of the ships horn were heard.
  21. Facebook groups is where the action is at these days. I joined a few ahead of our cruise last month. There continues to be hundreds of posts about the ship, the hype is very much there, just perhaps moved to where normal people and not cruise addicts hang out! She’s a fantastic ship. We loved our week onboard. Best cruise we’ve ever done and already pricing up another trip on her, maybe not next year, but 2026!
  22. Titan of the Seas is one of the trademarks Royal has registered. However, agreed, it’s a bit too close to another ships name and you’d think they’d want to avoid that 😅
  23. That said, Oasis is now streaming away and Odyssey is still there. Did they definitely offload the patient to Oasis?
  24. presumably, Oasis has a bit more time to spare. Get the passenger off the Odyssey, onto Oasis, then Oasis can hang around to get the passenger to shore successfully and Odyssey can be on her way... again...!
