  1. Do you remember what excuses he gave you? Did he tell you the food would be too hot (hot pepper hot) or what? I've been looking forward to the Indian menu and would be disappointed to be talked out of it, or to learn that the food was too hot for my taste. I love Indian vegetarian food, but cannot eat it if it's too hot-pepper hot. (I wish that English had two words for hot, one for temperature and the other for Carolina Reaper. 🥵 )
  2. I get them here in Central Florida. You South Floridians must be foreigners 🤣
  3. If they think a kettle could start a fire, you won't be allowed to have one in your cabin. At every safety and lifeboat drill I've ever attended, they always say "Fire is the greatest hazard at sea".
  4. I'm sure Celebrity knows what's going on here and doesn't care that we share answers. I think their aim is to keep people engaged with Celebrity. Their marketing people probably already figured out that those of us who bother with the PUPs will think of Celebrity first when looking for a cruise.
  5. Can we just order hot water and/or tea from room service? Is room service available at no-extra-charge on HAL these days?
  6. What times are the evening shows on sea days?
  7. Thank you for posting, Robbie. You've brought back some memories. 😊
  8. How about on Quest? New cloth, non-clinging shower curtains or old style clingy ones? We have a B2B booked in May.
  9. Were the points from the Europe Webinar also credited to your Azamara accounts? (I'm still waiting for those 5 to be added into my total at Celebrity)
  10. You do not have to pay for plain water. It's free in the dining rooms, buffets and bars.(Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the bars.) You can even drink it straight out of the tap in your cabin, although it might be a bit tepid. We always fill our reusable water bottles and keep them in the refrigerator.
  11. Crew appreciation is included in the early booking bonus "Have it All", as are the Elite Beverage Package, specialty dining, Premium wi-fi, and shore excursion credit.
  12. We have $475 of OBC for our upcoming HAL cruise. Since we've purchased the "Have it All" package, there's little we'd want to buy except shore excursions. It's been our habit (on other cruise lines) to book our shore excursions before sailing, so that we don't have to spend our precious cruise time standing in line at the shore excursions office and being disappointed that the excursions we want are sold out. Is there a work around to the HAL policy you mentioned?
  13. How does the Holland America Line Rewards Visa from Barclay work? I saw an add for it on the HAL website claiming that if I applied and was approved and then used it to spend $500 within the first 90 days, I would receive 15,000 points, a value of $150. Could I use those points to partially pay for an upcoming Holland America cruise, to book and pay for shore excursions, or to cover some onboard expenses? If yes, how? I have read the "Terms and Conditions", but not being an attorney, the information isn't clear to me. It appears that the points can be used "toward your next cruise purchase", but I don't understand how that works. I'd like to hear from someone who uses this card about how it has worked for you.
  14. The article mentions "Tales of the South Pacific" departing from San Diego, "Amazon Explorer" departing from Ft. Lauderdale, "Hawaii, Tahiti and Marquesas" departing from San Diego and "Voyage of the Vikings" departing from Boston. Like you, I wish there were more sailings embarking in Florida, but I suppose that if we want to visit places that we've never been, we'll have to travel farther than we ever have. . 😏
  15. "The new special programming planned for the Legendary Voyages will include the same types of theme parties that Holland America currently offers on its longer Grand Voyages, as well as new curated onboard lectures from destination experts. 'We're going to bring in local and cultural specialists that can really speak to the region and the destination,' Cole said."
  16. "Holland America doubles down even more on long and unusual cruises with new 'legendary' sailings": This article was published online by The Points Guy today. Does anyone have any further information about this topic? I don't see any of these "new" sailings on HAL' s website yet. I suppose by "Tuesday", the author (Gene Sloan) means March 14, 2023?
  17. We signed up. The wait list only cost, $100 per person, not $500 per person as we had expected. Our TA sent us an email with the subject line "Future Dam". 😀 Our wait list reservation appears in our account on hollandamerica.com, but it's listed as a cruise on March 16-17, 2024 - not even close to what we asked for. Is this just because there is no other way to record a wait list in our online account?
  18. The cruise I want has not posted yet. (None of the cruises for those months have posted yet) HAL will not even tell my TA if this cruise is going to be offered, but they said that we could get on the wait list for $500 per person. How does such a wait list function? Is there any point in giving HAL $1,000 when we don't even know whether or not this cruise will sail?
  19. I'm asking about fall 2024, specifically October and November, not 2025. I see that CruiserBruse posted, " Fall 24-Winter 25 schedules will probably be out in April or May." Does this mean that HAL posts its fall cruises at the same time as the winter ones?
  20. When can I expect HAL to post fall 2024 cruises? I can see September Alaska cruises, September and October Europe cruises, October transatlantic cruises, October southern Med cruises, and October Atlantic Canada to Ft. Lauderdale repositioning cruises. But nothing in the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, Grand Africa, Grand Asia, or South America. When can I expect to see those cruises posted?
  21. No PUP gift here in Colorado USA at 7:51 AM Mountain Time. Just more snow on the way, too.
  22. I guess this means that Celebrity is not going to discontinue the PUP program any time soon. If they were going to do so, I don't think they would have gone to the trouble of adding PUPs to point history.
  23. Actually, you added details that weren't in Stem to Stern's original post, so no need for a red face. You made a contribution.
