  1. I think the theme is scaring people away. The cruise that's a week before this has Interiors already sold out and the fares for Obstructed Balconies and Balconies are even higher than this cruise. I think it's time to move away from The Love Boat. Princess can't ride that boat forever.
  2. That's a lot of money to schmooze with has been, C-List celebrities. Maybe Princess is trying to make up for lost revenue given the low fares on this cruise?
  3. I think this profit pressure extends to all of CCL's brands. IMO, CCL is trying to get their stock price up. They're not as innovative as RC Group, so they have to rely on booking volume to justify investors to purchase their stock. Innovation drives investment, not just passenger volume. I will be interesting to see what the earnings call on 06/26 reveals. If you look at the e-mail regarding the new pricing, there's PS under the notice saying something to the effect that you should book 2025 now. Basically, it trying to create false panic to encourage people will book now. Furthermore, if you look at generic online advise being published about CCL, most just point at high demand for cruising as a reason to purchase their stock.
  4. IMO, dialysis and cruising don’t mix. There so much that could go wrong in treatment that the ship’s medical center wouldn’t be able to treat. If untreatable, the patient would potentially have to airlifted off the ship. My girlfriend’s family runs a nursing home that has had patients with dialysis and from what I’ve seen you always want to have access to emergency care. It’s one thing to be go on a land vacation and have access to a full service hospital that is nearby, but this isn’t a reality on a ship. I totally sympathize with you. I know it’s hard on the patient and the patient’s family.
  5. Millennials know that loyalty means nothing anymore. There are simply too many consumers in today's world. (Maybe if you want a Birkin or Rolex.) Maybe it's time to cruise with other cruise lines rather than waiting for Princess to give you more. There's lots of talk about MTG gatherings. Not quite sure what the draw to these events are. The cruise fare already includes food so it's like you already paid for it. It's also like saying you need to cruise X amount of days to schmooze with the crew. I've made the cut and have been invited twice and never understood the draw and never went. One CC Host even told me that everyone there that everyone there would be twice my age and I wouldn't have peers. Now that this is handled by Future Cruise, it's been expressed by a few that these are seen as a chore in talking to these folks. Don't understand the draw to the CC cocktail party nights either. My loyalty is worth a drink and if I had a package, I basically paid for the drink. These parties turn into a whose pee goes higher in terms of comparing days cruised. It doesn't really matter! Even something like the minibar and the MedallionNet discount are redundant if you have the package. The excursion discount is nice, but if you're like me and only book Princess excursions with excess OBC and otherwise go independent, it's really not beneficial.
  6. Not so sure about about enticing new cruisers. The tangible benefits don't start until Platinum, lounge access and MedallionNet discount (which is nil if you purchased the package to begin with. This, for now, is only a temporary, lasting only 4 months. An average person doesn't have the time or the means to take 3 cruises in 4 months. It would help those on the cusp of moving up, though. I think it's a way to entice those who don't usually purchase a package (like myself, unless it's discounted) to try and purchase a package. Once they see the "convenience" of the package and try it out for themselves, they are more likely to purchase it again in the future, which is more $$$ for Princess (the cash grab ideology).
  7. I think Princess got the IT bill for the implementation of the new dining changes. Princess couldn't pay it and the IT is holding the program hostage until they can get paid. Thus the delayed July 1st rollout. Thus Princess needing stoop to fundraising in this manner.
  8. That's way of travel loyalty as of recent. You can buy your way to attain status. Look at airlines' milage programs and hotel rewards programs and how to accrue points. The more you spend the more points you get.
  9. I hope the IT department can handle this Captain's Circle earnings promotion. Given Princess' IT track record, I'm not particularly hopeful. Is there a way to correct Captain's Circle earnings landside or is it only the Loyalty Manager, who is also now the FC manager, that can do this on board? The call center in the Philippines will be clueless regarding this.
  10. IMO, Princess added Park 19 (or is trying to) is to entice some of the Royal Caribbean loyalists to come to Princess. The demographic and type of cruiser is pretty stale on Princess--leaning towards old and not very active (mobility devices galore). This was their attempt to try and attract a different crowd.
  11. There are a bunch of blank Medallions and stickers in the GS Office. There's also a laser engraving machine that's used to personalize them with name, ship, and embarkation date. I imagine the laser engraving process is much like how Apple products are personalized when the engraving option is selected at purchase. Medallions weren't meant to be opened or have the battery replaced because it makes the advertised waterproof property go away; any gap is an entry point for water.
  12. Exactly why Princess shouldn't be making false promises.
  13. Princess should go back to the old way of having you, your CVP, or TA select your dining preference upon booking the cruise. Choose between Early, Late, and Anytime. If you choose Early or Late you shouldn't have access to MDR reservations on the App. Only those with anytime dining should be able to access MDR reservations on the App. Not sure why Princess decided that each individual would have the ability to manage their dining preference on the App with this transition. It should just be a matter of re-activating this function on Polar and getting the App to follow.
  14. Apparently, very hard--to draft and send an email informing booked passengers of the delay (day late and a dollar short) and to update the App to be able to handle the new dining system.
  15. Everyone is so privileged that they can worry about when their going to eat months in advance. There are some that have to worry about when they're going to eat, period. This function will be fixed soon. I do, however, wish that Princess would make an announcement this function ready rather than announcing a firm start date only to have to reneg. Deja vu of when the Princess Cruises App was almost a month late from the anticipated date of release. Princess is notorious for this behavior, so I'm not really surprised.
  16. This wasn't even a post on Princess' main X page. It was a reply to someone's complaint. #Oops #Fail Given Princess' track record during major transitions, I'm not surprised.
  17. These fools emailed my parents when they got back from their cruise. If you ever get an email from Princess and the sender has "Contractor" in their name and an @princesscruises.com email address, you'll know that its the Princess Promotions team, in other words O.N.E. Their signature graphic looks like that of a Princess CVP, but upon closer examination, their official title is "Future Cruise Deposit Team," which add more the confusion because if one doesn't know, one would they are trying to sell a $100 FCD with bounce back OBC like what is sold on board. When my dad responded to never be contacted, the fool added into the reply that "our guests love the benefits." O.N.E. is trying really hard to conceal their identity.
  18. This probably won't apply to most but worth mentioning. Allianz's annual plans have a maximum trip length of 45 days. This particular policy wouldn't be good for something like a complete World Cruise.
  19. There were changes made in the App from June update. For the Regal on a sailing after the dining change, it seems like Concerto and Symphony (description says "Think of this as the classic cruise dining experience...") will be for traditional dining and Allegro (no description in photo) will be for anytime dining. If this extends to other Royal/Grand class ships, the aft dining room with aft only access will by for anytime dining. Make sure you're running on the latest version of the App to ensure you have access to the new dining system. Having said that, given Princess' track record of implementing transitions, I don't have high hopes that this will go over smoothly.
  20. Kids can make their cases to their parents. Not my kids; not my problem. My parents always told me: my money, my rules.
  21. You can turn off the purchase function of the Medallion. That's what my friends do with their kids. Again, not sure about setting purchase limits like you recommended above.
  22. My friends don't want aren't even teens yet so they don't have phones. Parents want it that way. If putting caps on daily folio charges is a thing, the mom that was in the buffet that I was taking about obviously didn't know.
  23. Might make sense if they're in their teens, but younger ones probably don't need the package.
  24. Not everyone has that kind of money or wants their child downing sugary/caffeinated drinks all the time which leads to hyper activity. My friends with kids don't get their kids packages because they don't want them drinking sodas, juice, or mocktails.
  25. If you are having the App for your dependent, make sure that they are aware of their limitations. I saw a mother flipping out at her child on the third day of the cruise because they racked up so many orders through the app; her child didn't have a package. Be vigilant about checking your folio.
