  1. But think of the entertainment value of watching other families. I love watching it come apart at the seams especially when alcohol is involved. I prefer to cruise while kids are in school though for now. If it weren’t for avoiding sugar overloaded children a Christmas cruise away from family drama sounds fantastic.
  2. Red or green lights don’t matter so much from what I remember of Rome last time I was there. The trick is no one would dare hit Nona so follow close to anyone that looks like grandma and you won’t be run over. Next week I’ll be in Rome for one night so I picked a hotel near Termini since I’ll just drop my luggage off after arriving and quickly freshen up before heading towards the more touristy area of Rome. In the evening I’ll take a taxi back to my hotel and crash for the night. In the morning I’ll wake up, have breakfast either at my hotel or a nearby cafe and at check out head to Termini again for my train to Civi. Staying closer to attractions didn’t make sense and I would have had to haul my luggage further etc. if your staying multiple nights however it would be more convenient to be more centrally located.
  3. Haha I didn’t mind Vancouver. No porter stuck their hand out, there was no lineups when I was there, everyone was really friendly and smiling. Ok this was fall 2022 and I will say I got a workout walking through the terminal but I like a random workout. If you want a tiny and easy terminal Seward AK is fabulous. Civi I’ll be finding out first hand in just over a week how I like it. Keep in mind I’m younger than most cruisers and have no issue hauling my luggage anywhere it needs to go.
  4. More concerned traveling in the US than in Europe. I wouldn’t go to certain countries in the Middle East right now or certain parts of Asia but that’s about it. Certain cities or even rural areas of the US I will avoid however or take a different approach for my safety.
  5. People who don’t bother tagging their luggage can really slow down the whole process. Be organized and just tag your luggage before you board your bus. On my last cruise from Alaska there was lineups at luggage drop off only because people didn’t have their luggage tagged.
  6. There is at least one option in the station and others nearby. You can locate the exact location on google maps as well.
  7. Well good news is they can’t board a flight without it and we are all flying in day before. If someone forgets it they will just have to take another flight worse case.
  8. Haha all my friends are OCD like me for travel. My family however makes me shake my head. Thankfully for the upcoming family trip I have the green light to keep them all in line. Literally told them they can’t get pregnant for 10 months. Passports will be checked 6 months out. Easier if I just ask the questions instead of them having to do any research.
  9. Haven’t received a single one yet. Crossing fingers the one I watched during check in was enough. Only comment was the video was so bad omg someone needs to film it again.
  10. Over half my suitcase packed and heading out in 8 days.
  11. I hope they are putting it together during my TA starting next week in the Gem.
  12. This topic is discussed at length on a weekly bases. The question is which type of NCL airfare are you booking, is it BOGO or one of the other ones? If it’s BOGO you could luck out but chances are it may be a unfavourable flight with lots of connections, long layovers, late nights, and/or middle seats.
  13. Haha ok ok make it 2-3 bottles and get Christmas gifts out of the way. My perfume is over 100$ for a large bottle. Add in some facial cleanser, toner, eye cream, face cream and I’ve blown through over 250$ easily on just my face routine.
  14. Raised seal is essential but it’s still a calculated risk traveling without a passport to foreign ports. If your friend is taking that risk I would suggest a comprehensive travel insurance to mitigate impact if things go sour. For example kid breaks leg while on an excursion and they have to go to a local hospital. Now stuck in country without a passport. They have to travel to a consulate to get a rush out of country passport. This takes time and can cost. Comprehensive travel insurance can help cover expenses related to all the extra travel and time in country. Risks can be small but should be calculated and mitigated when possible. I personally would never travel without a passport but the US system is different. Your passports cost more and take more time plus people travel less internationally so there is less of an appeal to have a passport.
  15. Change the nice bottle of liquor to a nice bottle of perfume.
  16. I never thought of carrying extra prescription meds in my checked luggage. I do carry 1-2 weeks extra however just in case of a quarantine or a major disaster. passport, phone, meds are my 3 most important. They all stay at the top of my personal item.
  17. Haha I’m the opposite I don’t want to be on a ship with water slides. It’s just not my vibe.
  18. happy thanksgiving to all the Americans. I hope you get to enjoy quality time with family and friends. Thanksgiving was over a month ago for us but today my American friend is coming to help me at work and love my office. Her business is closed for the holidays and since we go and help her love she wanted to repay the favor and come help us and get a good visit in. 7 days till my office has to be empty 8 days till I have to ship out the biggest order in my companies history 9 days till I leave for my biggest cruise yet 11 days till I pull up a stool at the bar and finally get to relax I am just in the mode of getting through each day right now. Good news is I managed to still loose 1.2lb this week. Got 70% of my clothing packed for my cruise. Need to go shopping for new skinny jeans though since mine our now too big.
  19. 45 minutes in Frankfurt is absurd. When I flew to Frankfurt we had an “air gate” and it took us over 1.5 hours to get from the gate to the terminal. Now I avoid the airport completely. Control over flights especially international ones is important to me.
  20. Making good choices is the hardest part. I find I don’t put on any weight on cruises but I often skip lunch especially on port intensive itineraries. My rule of thumb is no elevator till after 8pm. Also order that dessert but don’t feel the need to finish your plate. You can have a few bites and truly enjoy it without guilt. I’ve lost 37lb in the last 5 months and cruised in there as well. One trick though is don’t weigh yourself till a few days after your cruise. I don’t count water weight from increased sodium so I wait till my diet is back to normal at home for a few days before I weigh myself.
  21. OP stated adult so they are 18 plus.
  22. It’s like asking if you can share your drink package, the answer is no.
  23. I only book midship after my first cruise had a day of rough seas in Alaska. Can’t enjoy that view if I’m in the washroom or bed all day.
  24. Brand new ship makes sense to start putting in type C but as you stated they also have type A. Hotels, airplanes etc still all have type A. The time of seeing type C only is still years away. At the slow rate at which NCL renovates it’s ships it’s probably many years away.
  25. USB C is not common yet for outlets. Honestly haven’t seen one anywhere yet, stick with type A for the foreseeable future and you’ll be good.
