College Party Cruise- going to X instead of RCL on March
DennysDad replied to mcatmcat's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Well, thank you for the information anyway. A simple we already know, but thanks anyway I'm sure would have been appreciated. -
Any night is a chic night if you want it to be. Dress how you want. Enjoy.

No worries. Take care.

Tipping cash can be tax free when not all is reported. Many folks love cash in hand. Never been turned down. LOL. But I get what you are saying. And clearly its a factor in the current system status quo.

Ones knickers are not in a knot. One is merely amused.

However, as long as the cruise line allows me to remove the automatic gratuities and pay cash directly to whoever I please, I will choose to do so. Remember, I'm not holding a gun to anyone's head at guest services. It's an available option, by Celebrity, not me. If they make it a mandatory resort type fee, I will pay that way. But my individual cash tips will change considerably. I don't believe for one second all my automatic gratuities go to crew. I've been told cruise lines take 10% for processing the money and dividing it up. I will not willingly take part in that scam. Not when I have the option of cash in hand. Nobody's postings on here will change how I view this system. Never does it fail to amuse me how many try to post shame. I tip plenty, just how I choose. That's tipping in America.

One chooses to spend ones money in any way one feels. If one doesn't like it, then it's all the more sweeter. Oh, and one does not have to agree with the system when one books. That's why the system allows one to opt out and tip who and how one likes, with ones own money. LOL.
-
Anyone can go to guest services and have the automatic gratuities removed and tip those that directly serve them in cash. Or if concerned with "behind the scenes" workers (which I am not, don't call it a gratuity then) you can just adjust your automatic gratuities to the amount that YOU feel is appropriate for the week as well. If you call it a gratuity, then I will decide who and how much. But there are options if you feel it's not working for you. (I feel how I feel) This is fact on options available. I will not debate the should and shouldn't. I tell nobody how to spend their money, please do for me the same.

Having second thoughts regarding cruising with Celebrity
DennysDad replied to Caipi's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The point should be to have a enjoyable trip. Not to spend the days saying "this isn't like etc". They are two different lines. -
I did Icon in May. 2800 children on board. It was absolute hell. Small non potty trained toddlers in every pool. Pools closed by 1pm for a 5 hour cleaning everyday. Parents that let there non potty trained toddlers in pools because they themselves wanted to be in pools. Parents didn't feel like spending time in the kids pool area. The selfish me and my kid attitude was super sized. Never, ever again.

Having second thoughts regarding cruising with Celebrity

Every sentence has "on QM2". First thing is stop saying that and stop comparing the two. They are not the same. At all. If you continue to compare, you will be disappointed in a new experience. -
Beyond: Did You Get Norovirus This Past Week?
DennysDad replied to mlbcruiser's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Wash your damn hands. People that use public restrooms and avoid the sink on there way out are disgusting. -
I think adults only to everyone implies Virgin and young party people. I would be in favor of a 50 plus cruise. I say Celebrity keep your kids club and activities to a minimum and discourage children on board. Which I believe they already have. With the amusement park activities on Royal Caribbean alone, why choose Celebrity with kids.

20 years ago they had beverage packages. Maybe not 30 years? But 20 years they did.
-
Don't get me wrong, I think it's expensive. On Royal Caribbean we always just get soda package at $9 per day and buy about 3 alcoholic drinks each over the course of a week. But we also buy a case a bottle water. $63 plus tax and gratuity for soda package. $30 for case of water. $15 to $20 for a alcoholic drink (even only 3 per week) That adds up to. Celebrity making Soda package $40 and (a good sale) making premium package $62.99 makes you think. Water, Soda, Alcohol drinks for $22/$23 more than the non premium package, in for a penny, in for a pound. If Celebrity had a soda/water package at $12 per day, We would get that and Alla cart alcohol drinks. But with Soda/water running $40 a day the might as well go for broke with the premium and try a few new things seems like a better deal than the soda/water $40 per day. It's so high, really what's another $20 something per day to just have it all. The beverage packages and Internet packages are just crazy out of control overall. And I don't even consider meals that are not included. I remember when they were an extra $10. LOL. Specialty dinning packages $400, $500! Did it once on Wonder of the seas. It was nice but in the end it was an extra $600 we wished we still had when we got home. When your extras are more than your passage, you have to stop and look at the numbers. It's such a different experience than it was 20 years ago. Back then cruising vacations really were a bargain. Times have sure changed.

What can I say. I'm a huge Coke user. LOL 😆
-
I will have 20 plus diet cokes in a day. And in the Caribbean with heat and ice melting I like a fresh drink all the time. That and usually a margarita mid-day. So all the diet coke, fancy bottle water, and trying out sips of evening cocktails just for taste and kicks (not necessarily finishing them) makes the premium at $62.99 worth it more than the non alcoholic package at $40 or Alla cart. Per drink at $3 or $4 per diet Coke would run me a fortune alone. LOL.
-
I usually get a soda package on Royal. But the non alcoholic package for Beyond next May was $40 and the premium only $62.99, so we don't drink more than 2 drinks a day. But $40 just for soda seemed crazy. Not coffee drinkers, so soda and water only. We figure we will try some new drinks and take a sip and just move on.

No video calls, just calls over wifi. Planning on premium package. Thanks.
