  1. @BklynBoy8 Have you asked? I have not, but intended too. I keep getting distracted and then forget!
  2. Our cruise shows our cabin as waitlisted. Do you think it is worth a phone call?
  3. We did the TA Dec. 15 - 22, 2022 and loved it. We are told we had an highly unusually smooth crossing. We really only had weather as we neared North America. Nationalities - there were lots of Swedes and Norwegians with older children. We would do this every year if we could. The caveat is you arrive in New York just before Christmas and this year the weather was horrid all across the country. Getting out of New York on a plane was not fun. There were delays all across the U.S.
  4. @Host Hattie I received the bid received acknowledgement almost immediately. When we did a fake booking there were still Q1 and Q2 available but Q4 said sold out. I put in a bid for a Q4 and we’ll see what happens.
  5. I received our upgrade offer today. We are booked for Q5, got offers for Q1, Q2, Q4. We sail on June 30. Has anyone heard if their offers were received?
  6. Thanks @bluemarble and @NE John having actually read it now I see that I don’t really need a form, just send the information, which is what we did last time. I am curious about the Feb. booking date requirement.
  7. I’m having trouble finding the form we have to fill out and submit. If anyone has the pdf (U.S.) could you please post it?
  8. Loving your blog @safarigal. Now I know that cruising on Virgin isn’t my cup of tea, but I need to find a Seabourn cruise for 2025. I hope your fun continues.
  9. @safarigalI am excited to read about your adventures. You are not missing beautiful weather today as it is another misty Easter in Seattle.
  10. Happy Easter to all who celebrate. It is grey and misting this morning, but that is what it is like on Easter in Seattle. We’re off to the early service and then home for crepes. Sadly the grandsons are not with us today, but their baskets are ready for them tomorrow.
  11. @NE John Tastings and flights are booked once you are on board. Let your sommelier know the first night that you are interested so they make a special contact with you. I hope you’ve read my comments about the CA wine tasting offered on our TA in December…you can find it by looking at my postings…it wasn’t very good. We are opposites for beer. I can drink one lager but really don’t care for “hoppy” and certainly not anything bitter. Between us we’ll figure out this first growth tasting issue. Have a great time on your TA!
  12. @NE John If you booked through Cunard and have a Cunard TA be sure to cc him/her on your email to the shareholder address.
  13. I think we had a glass or two of the wines and they were ok for watching waves. Wouldn’t order with dinner. Beer? That just makes me sleepy.
  14. @TV Dad Thanks for the clarification regarding commission.
  15. They had cosmetics out on tables! How would you buy lipstick without seeing the actual color? Lots of dresses that would not fit over these hips. But, I admit to wearing at the moment my Cunard blue sweatshirt that I absolutely love.
  16. Do you think they are going to discontinue the shareholder benefit?
  17. I am not a fan of Sauv. Blanc, but there is one from the Margaret River (?) in Australia we like. I think it is something like Lost River? I check with DH when he is done with meetings. I do not care for grapefruit or grassy wines. Although there were some Sauv. Blanc’s blended with Semillon that we went through cases of back in the late 80’s.
  18. @D&N Well that was interesting. Sounds like we should drink the Margaux and continue to hold the Mouton. I can’t find the Pichon-Lalande.
  19. @Victoria2 What’s your house white? Ours shifts based on what’s on sale and what’s available. DH is the consumer of all house white while I am a dry rose girl.
  20. @D&N I started using cellar tracker many years ago when it first came out because the developer lived on the hill across the way from us. I found I couldn’t keep up our list in two places. But, it IS a good resource. We have 1986 Mouton-Rothschild, ‘86 Margaux, and ‘86 Chateau Pichon-Lalande that I track for drinkability. But, I haven’t looked in several years. Your post reminds me to go check.
  21. @Rothko1 It took great patience got get through all of the updates, but I finally got into the spreadsheet. Our Insignia only goes back to 2003. I show we’ve been drinking it in December the last several years with serious red meat. You know what we get every year and never drink is the Phelps’s Eisrebe. The Backus goes back to 2007.
  22. ‘97 sounds great. I’ll try to fire up my laptop so I can get to the spread sheet and see if we have any ‘97 left. When did you drink it last?
  23. We find that a really great wine takes longer to drink than a wine of less quality. We linger over each sip and talk about it more. We had an Oregon Petit Verdot last night and I said at least 3 times, “this is a really nice wine,” and it lasted well past dinner. No waves to watch, but the grand boys with their trains were just as fun. Yes, Life is good!
