Not really cause GTY's are usually assigned earlier in the game than Royal Up's and with a GTY you always have a chance to switch your cabin to a different location as long as they still have availability in that category. Maybe I have just been lucky but I am usually pretty happy with how my GTY's turn out.

Icon of the seas Infinity balcony
bajathree replied to rccllovergirl's topic in Royal Caribbean International
While I think an infinite veranda would be good for cooler weather sailings like Alaska...I have to agree. I had an infinite veranda on a Caribbean Edge sailing and wasn't a fan at all. -

Info About Trying Royal Caribbean by a Celebrity Cruiser
bajathree replied to dazey's topic in Royal Caribbean International
leaveitallbehind is pretty spot on. We go back and forth between Royal and Celebrity due to the Club Royale offers along with we are D+ and enjoy the 5 free drinks daily each....it's what sways us more towards sailing with Royal. However if we had the same offers and perks offered to us on Celebrity we would always choose them over Royal at this point. If you are going to try Royal I might suggest looking at Odyssey...that is our favorite Royal ship as it's basically a Celebrity Solstice ship that has been Royal Caribbean'ized. Odyssey to us has a more Celebrity feel to it and we love 270. The only thing I didn't like on the new Edge class ships is the switch to the infinity veranda cabins....which actually has now come to Icon class (which I have no interest in at all). I have tried calling Blue Chip to see if they would switch one of our Club Royale offers over to Celebrity but they wouldn't. -
Wonder of the seas solarium heat
bajathree replied to colesc15's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Odd because Odyssey also has a fully enclosed solarium and when you walked in you could instantly tell it was climate controlled as they always kept it on the cool side. -
Is it a glitch or can I not book shows?
bajathree replied to scubaslayer's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Had/have similar issue with upcoming Wonder sailing with some of the specialties doing a 4 hour block. -
Pending Upgrade Bid??
bajathree replied to livetravelcruise07's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I ALWAYS tell people...pay attention to pricing if you are looking to upgrade and CALL before bidding. Royal is making a killing on some of these bids. I have frequently been able to upgrade myself for sometimes nothing or below minimum current asking bid for the cabin category I was looking to upgrade to. Perfect example....On an upcoming Wonder sailing I just recently saw a JS pop up for the same price as an ocean balcony. -
I have run into some dining reservation issues on an upcoming Wonder sailing along with others on that sailing. I have fixed dining so not with MTD but with specialty dining....some are blocking out a 4hr window like you are describing. It's defiantly a glitch because it will happen say with booking 150 Central Park with a 4hr block....but then when you book Chops it only has a 2hr block (which is normal).

Typically they will have ... VODKA Absolut • Belvedere • Grey Goose • Stoli • Tito’s Handmade Vodka RUM Bacardi • Bacardi 8 • Captain Morgan Spiced Rum • Malibu • Miami Club

Thanks for the review....we also purchased it for $19.99 for upcoming Wonder sailing. The prices seem to constantly fluctuate.

Opppssss....sorry that was for double occupancy....however there is currently 1 assigned balcony cabin for 3 available.
-
I see plenty assigned cabins available.
-
Probably because the suites on that sailing have been showing sold-out for weeks....someone would have to cancel for a suite to open and then depends how many other bids are in for suites....chances are slim.

Maybe it shouldn't just be during "spring break. In Dec there was a large group on young 20 somethings on our Odyssey sailing that kept ordering shots of Patron while they were in the pool on Odyssey. It was very annoying as they just kept ordering round after round not only consuming the pool bartender but eventually running the bar out of Patron for everyone else who wanted it.

Royal used to actually have a dress code that they would somewhat adhere to. I remember them not letting people back onto the ship without a shirt on...or asking women to put on a cover-up or shirt so not to be in a bikini top walking around the ship. Well those days are long gone....companies now seem to be afraid to say anything to anyone. I see women walking around in Windjammer in the morning in thong bottoms and see through cover-ups....bikini tops with nothing over them....anything goes.

Other than KSC or going to Disney or Universal (which I think is crazy rushed to try to do while in port) there isn't much other than beach or maybe a stop at the tourist trap call Ron Jon's.....lol Stay on the ship and enjoy....unless you boarding a cruise going out of Port Canaveral, it's a terrible port stop.

Yea...no idea what they were thinking on that one.

Crown Loft Suite Questions Oasis
bajathree replied to OceanCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have dined in CK many times. Overall I have found Luminae to be of better quality...actually I always find Celebrity food to be of better quality overall. Celebrity has more $ to spend on dining compared to Royal so really not that surprising. Royal has to spread out their $ to more areas to pay for all the bells and whistles. Actually my favorite is Blu...even over Luminae. But yes....food is all subjective and can vary greatly from sailing to sailing...ship to ship. -
Hideaway adult beach at COco Cay worth it?
bajathree replied to Minuet888's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Pricing for Hideaway seems to be all over the place. On my upcoming Wonder sailing I got it for $19/pp. -
We go back and forth between Royal and Celebrity. Honestly Celebrity is our preference but we get a lot more offers from Royal. One ship however we have found the best of both worlds on is Odyssey....it is basically a Solstice series ship that has been Royal Caribbean'ized. Odyssey is a very nice cutting edge ship that has a Celebrity feel to it but with all the bells and whistles of Royal.
-
That is true for most Oasis class ships except Wonder. Wonder's solarium is totally enclosed.

Crown Loft Suite Questions Oasis
bajathree replied to OceanCruise's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you are comparing against a Celebrity Edge class suite with retreat access ....it doesn't come close. Luminae is defiantly better than Coastal Kitchen. Coastal is just a smaller scale main dining room with a bit more personal service.
