  1. I guess you may be able to get some mooring lines of the Carnival Ships at their dock. Not sure where Royal docks, but this was taken from our Princess Ship, and you could walk from the Carnival dock to the Princess one. And yes, I have a lot of those same type of seal pictures. And I think Harry mentioned the ship might rock a little coming up the coast from Ensenada. Only enough to sometimes give you a waterfall in the pool.
  2. @Sunshine3601 was sorry to read of your friend, Mike, passing away. May he RIP. We had a similar thing happen to one of our friends in 2000. He had a massive stroke at 44, which left him paralyzed and with severe speech difficulties. He required 24 hour care, and it took quite a toll on the family.
  3. Where do people put their boats? Do they take them out and move them to higher ground? I saw photos of some larger ones that are tied to their docks. Probably more difficult to move those or sail them out of the storm path. Hoping the water doesn’t rise too high.
  4. We were out walking at a park today, and found the flowers still looked pretty nice. And in no a true, can you rush the season fashion, the crews were starting to string Christmas lights on the trees. I bet they even beat @Sea Dog
  5. That looks like some pretty calm seas. Way to go with the casino wins. Why am I not surprised.
  6. I read a very nice article this morning, about my niece’s 16 year old son. He was crowned the International Bowhunting Organization’s World Champion in the Men’s BBO division. Although he could have competed in the younger division, there was more competition in the Men’s. He was also crowned National champion in his class for the IBO National Triple Crown in 3D shooting and another for field shooting. You may recall me mentioning that his mother won the Shoot like a Girl competition, in another organization, the last two years. With such marksmen in the family, I know where I am headed when society breaks down and we have to live off the land. 😁
  7. Thank you Dani, and once again I wish her well in her surgery. Mine was measured at 6.7mm, but they are early in monitoring. Will see what the next CT shows. The last one was done without contrast, and I hope to convince my doctor to have one done with contrast. The CT would be available to my cardiologist also, and would give them an interim look, since the CT for the aneurysm isn’t due again till next March.
  8. @dani negreanu Dani, sorry I missed your comment about your cousin needing surgery due to the spot on her lung. I hope all goes well for her and that you are able to enjoy your cruise. Curious how they assessed it as 99% that it would be cancerous. It must have been a large size. When I had my CT that discovered my thoracic aortic aneurysm, it also discovered a spot on my lung. In my case, they follow the Fleischner Society criteria, and will do another CT at 6 months to see if it has grown in size. I should be due for my follow up CT the end of next month.
  9. I think the rate was 10.9% when we bought our house. We moved to a better school district, plus we needed a larger house with two kids. We did a 15 year mortgage, so we would be paid off in time to start making tuition payments for the kids. It was nice being mortgage free after 15 years, but tuition was much more than mortgage, especially with the colleges our kids went to.
  10. I spent a couple days doing storm cleanup. I just had everything cleaned up from the first storm, when the second one rolled in Thursday night. Woke up at 1am to heavy rain and 40mph winds with gusts to 60mph. Heard trees falling, but couldn’t see if they were any of mine until daylight. Fortunately, I only had a bunch of branches and leaves, but most of my neighbors lost trees. Lots of cleanup still going on, and some areas are only now (Sunday night), getting electricity back. Yesterday, we traveled to Erie, PA to pick up one of Susan’s sisters to celebrate her 70th birthday. We took her to Bemus Point, NY, on Chautauqua Lake. When I first saw this sign, I thought, oh good, I know several people who should go to parking school. Then, I saw this rental. Looks like a couple kayaks strapped together with a couple seats on it and a 30 hp outboard. I bet that would be a fun ride.
  11. Happy belated birthday to your grandson. It looks like you had a great time. Very nice photo of your family. We try to get those family group photos whenever we are all together. Now I just freaked everyone out with this story. We have eaten at that Flanigan’s a couple of times. (Had to look up the story to find which one it was). They may not want to go when we are there this winter. Happy birthday to Sharon. Your family pictures always look so nice. We watched the first 3 episodes, and the 4th should be available now. I think they plan on 8. Love all of Coben’s books. sorry to hear about Cooper. @jagsfan Apologies if I missed anyone, but it has been a crazy week. Doing a little catch-up while listening to a Springsteen tribute group at an outdoor concert tonight.
  12. Some more useless information…. If you are ever in Marin, and you travel up Lucas Valley Road (which, by the way, is not named for George Lucas), you will come to the Big Rock Trail. You can’t miss it, because there is a big rock there. If you like to hike, the trail will take you up along the ridge above Skywalker Ranch. If I were home, I could dig out a couple photos of the complex from the ridge.
  13. Perhaps, only readers of Dani’s thread will get that reference. That was my thought also. 🤣
  14. Sorry that I have been missing here, but I have been playing Monopoly. No, not that kind, but this kind. Do you know how hard it is to play when a cat wants to play too? Roll the dice, and the paw swipes it. Move your piece, and the paw knocks it off the board. Sometimes, you just have to hold them and play.
  15. I miss those good old days, as you watched people trying to navigate the stairs with their life vests, dragging a strap in one hand, and trying to not spill that drink in the other hand. This is from an old Independence of the Seas sailing in 2009.
  16. We had a lot of the storm damage over here. Trees and limbs down everywhere in our neighborhood. Fortunately, none of my big trees came down. When I got up at 1am, the weather app said winds were 40mph with gusts to 60mph, and heavy rain was blowing sideways. Heard a tree come down, but couldn’t see where till daylight. Strange, because we drove to our daughter’s house this morning, which is only 2 miles south of us. Hardly even a leaf down at their place. Safe travels and enjoy Alaska.
  17. Well, like someone who slows down to look at a train wreck, this prompted me to look at some cruise prices. Yikes! I think they are getting ridiculous, like many other things. Yesterday, I had my car in for service and a state inspection. While waiting for Susan to pick me up, I walked around the dealer stand looked at some of the prices for new vehicles. They have increased, just like Royal’s prices. And speaking of cars, icy anyone needs a new pony for their stable, they are going to build between 1,000 and 2,000 of this one.
  18. I feel like I have missed a lot here the last few days. @sgmn sorry to hear you have Covid. Hope it is a mild one.
  19. Have a great cruise, Sue. Now I have another thread to fall behind on.
  20. Today was a teacher in-service day, so we had our two local grandkids from 7-5. School starts tomorrow for them. Took them out to breakfast, then back to their house so they could make some cookies for their lunches this week. I think they need to work on a more even distribution of those chocolate chips. If you like lots of chips, some of these would be just right Since it was a nice sunny day, we picked up some subs for lunch and spent time at the beach this afternoon.
  21. After football, we had little time to relax before going to an outdoor concert. It featured a band that was very popular locally in the the early 70’s. They never hit it big, but they did record under the Mercury label, and played for about 10 years. Although the band members live in different states, they do still have connections here. Whenever they are back in this area, they get together and perform, and they maintain a huge following. They played for nearly two hours. I can’t fathom how you could practice remotely, to put on such a great show. Susan and I even wandered off on a walk, and found these guys coming in to listen.
