  1. I thought that things would slow down a little after my grandson returned to California. Now, I am not so sure. Yesterday, after we got out of church, we made a quick run across the Ohio border to pick up a new Apple Watch for our son-in-law. Then, we had to be back for an early afternoon football game. Our granddaughter is on the cheer squad for the Peewee team. They had her featured front and center, on the 50 yard line for the halftime show. She did great, and showed off some of her flips. Their team came away with a 30-8 win for the first game of the season. I think I may have to start taking my real camera to the games, because the zoom on my iPhone 12 Pro just isn’t clear when zoomed. Either that, or I am doing something wrong.
  2. Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do. I can’t believe how many pages there are from yesterday. @Sea Dog Greg, sorry to read about your episode, but glad you got checked out. I can’t believe how many here are on blood pressure meds, with talks about highs and lows. I had to start a couple meds last spring, but had to go off one due to side effects. I don’t have another appointment with my cardiologist until the end of October, so maybe I am being a little crazy in taking and recording blood pressure readings a couple times a day. Yes, I have spreadsheets that have the time of day of the readings, along with pulse rate, I can tell you what the highs and lows were for each month, as well as the averages. I know the doctor will take one look at all the data, and will probably throw it away. I guess I don’t know why bp fluctuates so much, so that will be one of my questions at my appointment.
  3. Our universal trip was great, but kids these days just have trouble keeping up with us old folks. In true, non-Cheapo fashion, we spent five days there and had fast passes and one of the most expensive hotels Universal had to offer. After looking at those lines, I would not do it any other way. Don’t know what is up with their light show. It still says temporarily unavailable. Maybe it is because it is still somewhat light at park closing this time of year.
  4. Yesterday was a quiet day, and a day to get things back in order. Drained, cleaned and refilled our hot tub in the morning. It feels pretty good on this 58° morning. Came across this geodome greenhouse, under construction, on our walk yesterday. Looks like they still have to install vents and the door. It will be interesting to see the finished product. It looks like it is about 30-35 foot diameter, so it is a good size one.
  5. Yeah, I am here catching up on your thread. I am way behind on important things, like keeping up on CC. Just shipped my grandson back to California, so now I have more time on my hands. I was going to comment on “tent city” but I will leave any of those jokes to you. Keep up to good work.
  6. What you get when the grandson leaves after spending 3 months with us. Yes he is. I was shocked that there were 50 empty seats on their direct flight back to San Francisco. Every flight we have been on has been full this year. He was already talking about next summer. He left some books and other things behind, in anticipation of his return.
  7. All the grandkids slept overnight at our house. Today, they are all playing together for one last time, before their summer ends. I take my son and grandson to the airport later this afternoon for their flight to California. Orientation on Monday, and start of school on Tuesday. Will meet our daughter for lunch, so she can say her goodbyes. She has work meetings all day to get ready for her school year which also starts Tuesday. It seems like summer went fast. 130 days till we are all together again for our holiday get together in Florida.
  8. Our forecast had called for sunny skies, but the bounce house was delivered the night before, and it rained overnight and in the early morning. We had to dry everything off, but weather was perfect by party time. The next few days will be very nice in our area.
  9. Yesterday was our Unbirthday celebration for our grandson from California. He will turn 11, a week from Friday, but he will be back in California by then. Our party size grew at the last minute, when my sister said her kids were going to be in town with their kids, so we added five more to our list and went to buy more steak and chicken. That was one of my tasks, to grill all the meat. This was a first to grill for that many people. Filled the grill twice to get it all cooked, but everything turned out perfect. I think I mentioned that this year’s theme would be Harry Potter. I understand they do have Harry Potter bounce houses, but none are available for rent in our area, so we had a regular one. The kids all had a blast on it. We had a talking, sorting hat. Our granddaughter had fun with it, finding everyone’s house. IMG_8660.mp4 What would the party be without butter beer And fishy green ale We had our favorite bakery make some Potter cookies for the party And our cake lady made a nice Potter theme cake. And finally, we had an Owlery, and all the kids at the party got to adopt an owl to take home. I will say, even I still enjoy bouncing and sliding, and hope I never get too old for it. Susan did a fantastic job with all the other food prep for the party. I think I will keep her around. Sorry Tracy. 🤣
  10. We had to pick up some balloons last night, so I took my son and grandson out to eat. I saw this menu. At first, I thought Elvis Juice may have been something related to the anniversary of his passing, 46 years ago today. I searched the drink, it it was not something that appealed to me at all.
  11. She looks good, and she still has a few more cycles of oral chemo to go, as long as her numbers permit. They have been off. It is good that she is back to teaching full time. It keeps her occupied.
  12. This will be a crazy week for us, but it is the last week of our Summer of Fun 3. Yesterday, my daughter had an appointment with her oncologist, and it was the first day of her return to work full time. So we had her kids, plus our California grandson. We had to get them out of the house, since my son had zoom meetings all day. He is here till the end of the week, when he will take our grandson back to California. So we took all the grandkids on a hike (which they claim was 4 miles). I can get close enough to touch this turtle! When you find a down tree blocking the trail, it is a good place for a break. Then, for some health food after. Today, I hope to enlist all of them to do some prep for tomorrow’s party. Tomorrow, we are having an unbirthday celebration for our California grandson. His birthday is not until the 25th, but he will be gone by then. This year’s theme will be, of course, Harry Potter.
  13. I am trying to catch up a little, because this is starting out as a really busy week for us. We have all three grandkids for the week. @ReneeFLL Renee and @FromSea2ShiningSea Helen, enjoying your photos, and have a great cruise. Looking forward to seeing more photos. @dani negreanu Dani, it was good to hear the DS2 found a rental and that they are getting settled. @TravelGirlinDallas Bethany, was sorry to read about Andrew’s broken finger. Hope he will still be able to play. @harryfat1 Harry, love your pictures, as always. I am watching for your review on the main boards. It looks like a birthday was being celebrated on your cruise. @lenquixote66 Lenny, happy birthday to your granddaughter @Momof3gurlz Deb, glad to hear you had a great time on the cruise with your grandsons. I am jealous I haven’t been able to do that with ours, but I am still working on my daughter. Hopefully, next summer instead of Myrtle Beach. @DaniDanielle Marietta, happy birthday to your granddaughter this Friday @Luckynana Maryann, happy birthday to you today.
  14. Getting caught up after our storms yesterday. Fortunately we didn’t get the tornadoes or 2.5” hail they were calling for, but did have a lot of rain. Lost power for about 4 hours. That is the longest our power has been out in the last 37 years we have lived in this house. Cleanup day, today.
  15. They do for 6 and under. Just wouldn’t want my 8 yo granddaughter ending up in a middle seat between strangers. Every flight we have been on this year has been full.
