  1. Interesting. We usually get the premier package and asked point blank and was told it wasn’t included. We really didn’t want one but was just asking for this forum.
  2. I just got a very mild case of CoVid last month so, no need for that vaccine for me. I may get a flu vax next week, though.
  3. Of note, we do have the opportunity on those surveys to suggest what needs work. I thought maybe those comments went nowhere but lo and behold, we’ve gotten select surveys, one about the offerings of the premier package before it was put into effect. We also just got one about the casino and so hopefully, they are thinking about making it nonsmoking. But, as we both agree, they probably don’t hear much about these side by side sailings and how they are viewed in the app because it is kind of a rare occurrence compared to their overall bookings. another issue we’ve had, which is hardly a huge problem, is that ever since I’ve sailed solo, when my DH goes onboard, they split our accounts. We do have them combined after the one time, I used up more than my share of OBC but my DH has a balance on his. I’d rather they be combined like before that solo trip I took. So, I had a credit card charge and he waited for his refund to come in by check. Now, a quick trip to guest service solves that problem. I may even try crew chat next time as, I love that feature in the app. BTW, the ocean navigator folks work miracles onboard with the app. I’ve picked up a few of their tricks, as well and sometimes, I’ve been able to help friends that are having trouble with the app while onboard. Some of it is user error but there are some valuable tricks I’ve learned along the way.
  4. We were linked with our neighbors and their mom, so it was a party of 5. They really wanted to go to the Crown Grill and they had no openings at all on embarkation night. This was before the pandemic and on the Grand Princess, so no suite concierge there. but, we’d much rather go for specialty dining on the second night so, when he offered us that, we jumped on it! PS .. We never put up a fuss when we are on a cruise anyway if there is a reasonable solution offered. Plus, it’s so much healthier for all of us to not get upset with any perceived offense. If I have to take anything positive from CoVid, it is that it taught me the lesson of being grateful for every day I wake up and am still breathing.
  5. We’ve had the same issue last year, except we were on the Royal, stayed one day in port and then jumped onto the Majestic for a B2B. It was all lumped in as one cruise in the app but showed three different cruises on their website. It made any dining reservations very difficult pre-cruise. Journeyview was also messed up. They sent two different sets of medallions .. one for the Royal and then one for the B2B on the Majestic. Anyway, all was well onboard but because I think it happens so rarely, they haven’t put a lot of time into fixing that system glitch.
  6. Yes, we do have differences! I love the GastroPub but am excited for trying O’Malley’s. I just wish the GastroPub was open for lunch. I hear O’Malley’s might give us that option, at least on sea days. I could also eat at Harmony every other day, if not just for their hot and sour soup. But, I really meant that previous post to quote @Retired-N-Happy. PS .. one the rare occasion when we booked a suite, we were skunked out of our specialty dinner on embarkation night and they arranged it for the following evening. That worked out even better for us. Plus, we tend to just go with the flow and never complain about anything unless it is truly warranted. We have such gratitude for even being able to cruise and have made some dear lifelong friends we’ve made along the way.
  7. We won’t be getting the premier on our Grand/Crown class cruises next year but will most likely be getting it for all our upcoming Royal class sailings. The value is day and night between the class of ship. Only one casual dining venue is available on the Crown and it’s so busy in there by the time they open. And there is no meal available for lunchtime. Sure, there is Vines but I would hardly call the charcuterie board a meal. Anyway, I hear you loud and clear. We don’t need more drinks, maybe just better quality wines. The Canyon Road is just icky. We do appreciate the ships with Alfredo’s or Gigi's being open all day and sushi available, at least on the Discovery, which makes for a nice lunch. We’ve seen all the production shows many times and don’t tend to go unless it’s on the Discovery for Spotlight Bar, Rock Opera. I do love the unlimited photos but we’ve got so many, it’s not an absolute necessity anymore. We won a big prize on the Discovery earlier this year through Princess Prizes, so that made it so worthwhile. I never go to the exercise classes or eat those desserts, so those are lost on me. I’ve tried the juice bar in the past but, personally, I like the veggie smoothie in the IC better. But most of all, I can take or leave Sabatini’s and the Crown Grill. I much prefer the Catch and Harmony, as on the Majestic. We never end up ordering the whole meal anyway. We only order what we can eat and eat all that we order. So, that’s a great option for those restaurants that have an a la carte menu, such as the GastroPub. It will be a savings from buying the premier package on those Crown class ships.
  8. I believe this is correct. I asked, not because I wanted it but wanted to report on it, if the $12 pizza was included in the price fixed menu at Alfredo’s. It is not. Also, the sushi tacos are not included in the unlimited casual dining.
  9. I really wanted to go but we had so few sea days and we were busy on the few we did have, so never got in there. This next sailing, we have many sea days so, we will be sure to make it there, at least once or twice.
  10. Before you buy his own package, might I suggest one of the adults with a package upgrade to the 4 device package once you are onboard. You can do that in the app. I think it will be cheaper (maybe?) to do it that way. And you can even buy it on day two (and possibly later) for a prorated rate if the adults choose to share their WiFi for the first day.
  11. I can assure you, I never order dessert from the prix fixe menu and it’s never been an issue. They don’t make anyone order more than they want.
  12. I almost forgot to mention .. you can order oil and vinegar to be brought to your table for dipping your bread.
  13. It’s easy enough to do because the extra days / number of cruises is very easy to identify as the line item looks different showing a blank space on the listing. If you don’t want the extra days, just wait until you are onboard to buy the package. That way, you will not be given the extra days.
  14. If she is the 4th person in the same cabin, give it until the last minute that she won’t be arriving, on the chance she will want to go. It’s harder to add her back on than it is to take here off, she should still get the taxes and fees refunded to her. As others have said, permission must be granted to a route deviation well in advance. Many of those are illegal in the US (you don’t mention the cruise) and there is a hefty fine for departing the ship early with some itineraries, as it’s a violation of the PVSA. Also, it’s possible for ports to be missed so, it’s rather risky to have that kind of plan in place. We got permission to disembark in our home port rather than finishing the cruise and that port was taken off the itinerary shortly before the cruise.
  15. I don’t eat any mammals but am not sensitive to their byproducts. I have never had an issue with getting ill on any cruise. I do eat animal by products, though. She has to be careful to ensure she gets the soy or oat milk if she adds that to her coffee. She will be able to add some dietary restrictions to her app but also be sure she speaks with the restaurant manager. They will always have a fish or chicken dish available but also make sure they leave the sauces off or order off the vegan menu. It’s doable but she will have to be proactive with her own health.
  16. We were on that first cruise back out on the Majestic to Alaska from Seattle in July 2021. Canada wasn’t accepting cruise ship passengers in port during that time so, I believe there were waivers to the PVSA granted. I honestly can’t remember if our ship had stopped there or if it was skipped entirely. But, we didn’t have to go through immigration because our only stops were within the US. The US senators from Alaska were fighting to get that waiver permanently in the event that Canada refused to allow cruise ship docking in one of their ports. Well, the Canadian government sure saw the writing on the wall and opened up pretty quickly after that. I can see where Hawaii and Alaska would sure benefit from having a carve out in that law, as they rely so heavily on tourism for their economic well being. Cruising is back full force now, though .. so much so that Juneau is beginning to limit the number of cruise ships in their port on any given day. Perhaps the longer sailings they are now offering are a direct result of that? Maybe not? You are 100% correct that the fix is complicated and is on no congress persons’s list as a top priority now. I wanted to continue on the Majestic from Seattle RT, then it heads up to Vancouver before ending in Los Angeles as a B2B2B. I would have had to get off in Seattle and caught back up with the ship in Vancouver for this, as to not violate the PVSA. That defeats the purpose of a B2B so, we decided to just fly home from Seattle. I suppose we could have stayed on up to Vancouver but that port is usually a bit chaotic, we chose not to disembark there.
  17. I think they stated it is added in the two or three days after your cruise. Sure enough, it showed up in about 2.5 days later. If you are on a 10 day cruise, it won’t show your cruise as 20 days, but will add an additional line in your profile showing 1 cruise and 10 days.
  18. I really they are mixed, They have little sticky tags attached. None of that bothers me .. there’s just items I can’t have go through the regular laundry so, I rarely use it.
  19. Oh, ok. I thought you might have a favorite restaurant there in Oakland. We both worked there for years and of course, called for jury duty very.single.year! I thought there was a place you might be able to recommend, I liked Jack London square a lot but I think CoVid did a number on it. Last time we went, so many businesses were closed. Very sad! it’s happening everywhere but good to see new places opening up. I do love those clipper cards! Next year, I will get my big discount.
  20. We have clipper cards and yes, we’ve thought of doing that in the past. This may be the time we do it. BTW, what’s in Oakland that you would go there for lunch?
  21. Yes, it is. The key to remember is they can’t have ever booked a cruise on Princess before, even if they canceled it and you must refer them before they book. But wait .. I just went to go grab the link for it and it doesn’t seem to be working. It might just be an IT glitch but I can’t get to that page.
  22. I do think it changed. I remember doing one long ago and that is what makes me think shoes were required. I board wearing a pair of shoes and never ever wear them the entire time while on a cruise. I don’t think I’m going to bother even taking a pair of shoes on my next few cruises. I only wear sandals, even up in Alaska. Needless to say, I wasn’t hiking on any glaciers.
