  1. Never being the key point. In order to determine never, that chair must be continually watched or else you risk missing the return and subsequent departure. This is the problem you have when someone is hogging a chair that you want for yourself.
  2. The flaw here is that the person could have come back at any time between 8:30 and 10:30 and then left again prior to your return. Just because a chair was unoccupied at 8:30 and it is unoccupied at 10:30 does NOT mean that it was unoccupied for the entire time in between.
  3. Easy to say, but why not just point the guest to that "right lawyer" with a referral? The article author is reading this thread and I'm sure she'd be glad to pass on your 100% correct information. On me? lol. Again, if it isn't an insult, then why not use the alternate wording? Why the label? Who in the thread are you referring to as someone who "stands up for their cruise line no matter what the issue is"? Or...how should we address those who blame the cruise line no matter what the issue is? What is their non-insulting label?
  4. NO...I got the point. You only think its "unfair" because your argument is only meant to satisfy your need for "more". If you feel comparing three 7-day cruises to one 21-day cruise is a legitimate point, then my point of comparing 4 5-day cruises to one 21-day cruise is equally as legitimate. However, if I'm off-base, then, by definition, so are you. (Which is MY point).
  5. So, then why haven't you given your response in a "Haven butlers get X and other butlers get Y" format? UDOU
  6. Butler is the appropriate term, no real need for the "haven" qualifier. Its not like there is a "balcony butler" to cause confuion...everyone knows where the butlers work.
  7. Interesting framing, but the perks are given out on a per cruise basis, not on a per day basis. If you want the same perks as a B2B2B, then just book that way...then it is fair. Given that you get the perks for a cruise of 5 days or longer, then why not just ask for FOUR times the benefits as 4 5-day cruises is still one day less than 21?
  8. And herein lies the problem...how do you craft a consistent policy? You call this an extraordinary circumstance...so what would be an extraordinary circumstance and what would not be? Where is the line drawn, and how do you then handle those "just" on the wrong side of the line that will eventually whine about the unfairness of their situation? Heck, if NCL just started giving FCC to everyone where this happens, then if you ever need to cancel a reservation, you could just add some transfers to your cart, not pay for them, and then you'd get your FCC after the automatic cancellation. Would be a nice way to game the system, no?
  9. Of course that would be reasonable, but this is CC...the opportunity to bash supersedes any need to be reasonable when conclusions must be jumped to.
  10. There is actually a LOT of information that is not available to the general public. There are a LOT of things related to a booking that the general public just can't do. What is really puzzling is, given these facts, why the general public insists on being their own booking agent instead of allowing someone with the knowledge base (be it a TA or PCC)...who works for no cost to the guest...to handle the reservation. Had the OP's reservation been handled by a TA instead of by a distracted user with a cell phone, it is likely this would have not happened. NCL apologists? You could have said "Can anyone explain or justify the policy..." yet you choose the ad hominem attack. Why? Can you explain or justify the reason for the insult?
  11. And given that we really have no factual verifiable information on exactly how this occurred, it is a stretch to think that it might be a "simple oopsie". I have to suspect there is something we haven't been told. As a cell phone booker with 5 years of experience, how many issues have YOU run into over a "simple oopsie"?
  12. I feel certain that if the poster was, in fact, the article writer, that they can put their conflict resolution skills to work on their on behalf and have their posts reinstated. Not sure if I'd be comfortable saying that there is an issue with the app. How can we know for sure that the issue wasn't caused by the user? And given that you've personally done all of your cruise and other trip bookings on your cell phone for 5 years, why would you let one person's issue place you in "morbid fear"? Isn't that just a tad dramatic?
  13. Additionally, laws change all the time...best to research and be prepared. Starting in 2023 Travel to Europe Will Require an Extra Step A new screening process will affect citizens from over 60 countries In mid-to-late 2023, U.S. citizens and nationals of over 60 other countries will need an electronic travel authorization to visit much of Europe. Travelers to any Schengen-zone country will have to register with a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS). ETIAS will be similar to the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) already used in the United States. How will it work? Most travelers have no need to worry. The process will involve a quick online application and a €7.00 credit card payment. According to the European Commission, “ETIAS will be a simple, fast and visitor-friendly system, which will, in more than 95% of cases, result in a positive answer within a few minutes.” The authorization will be valid for unlimited entries within a three-year period - or until the date of the applicant’s passport expiry, whichever is sooner - so travelers who frequent Europe won’t need to apply every time. Without a visa (ETIAS is not a visa), U.S. citizens will still need to limit their travel to 90 days within any 180-day period (the current limit). Those seeking to travel for purposes such as work or study will still require a visa. If I’m traveling to Europe, when should I apply for ETIAS authorization? Until 2023, ETIAS authorization will not be required. Once it goes into effect travelers should be able to obtain the authorization online within minutes, in most cases. Of course it’s better not to wait until the last minute. In rare cases applicants may be asked for additional information, which could take a few days or longer to process. Which countries does this apply to? ETIAS authorization will be needed for travel to any country that is part of the Schengen Borders Agreement, as well as countries that are European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Members, European Microstates With Open Borders, as well as Future Schengen Members (“Home ETIAS Countries”). This includes: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. I’m not a U.S. citizen. Will this affect me? ETIAS will apply to anyone who travels visa-free to the Schengen area. This includes nationals of over 60 countries. More information can be found within the European Commission’s press release regarding ETIAS.
  14. That is the important question, no? Better to find out now than to get there and learn you can't disembark. Wouldn't you agree?
  15. You corrected the ship name as stated, but it still reads 28–5/11-21 MSC Preziosa UK+Norway (10+11) INT SOLO 5/11-21? This is not 5/17. And it matters in that we'd need to know the specific sailing to then identify the specific Port to then determine what, if any, visa requirements exist for a disembarkation. Anything but truly irrelevant.
  16. Except that nobody said this. What was said was that FDR was the President/CEO of NCLH, not the President/CEO of NCL. This does have meaning and is important to realize as they are not the same company. As an example, you cannot buy stock in NCL, as NCL is not a publicly traded company (can't say the same for NCLH). Having a basic understanding of the corporate structure helps to understand what is going on. The reason this thread is here and not (for example) on the Regent and/or the Oceania boards indicates that there are still people confused about this.
  17. I thought this was announced previously, but I could be mistaken about that. Personally, I'm hoping that NCL can snag Spamalot one of these days...
  18. No need to explain why given that an explanation wasn't requested. My post simply pointed out information to, and for, the OP, I wasn't seeking information from the OP or anyone else. That aside, you really can't say you have the correct cruise as the OP says they are sailing on the May 11th cruise, this has been mentioned to the OP and they have NOT corrected or changed it, and there is no May 11th sailing of either ship in question. However, once again, this is an issue for the OP to resolve if they wish, I really don't need to know. Perhaps you should continue your discussion with the OP?
  19. Seems from the reading that these issues are affecting people who are touching their own reservations and not people whose reservations are being touched by their TA or PCC. Perhaps letting the TA/PCC handle these things would be the wiser move.
  20. I don't see how it matters that YOU "don't do sigs"....the thing is that the OP DOES and my comment was on the conflict in information there (the ship was different (since corrected by the OP...with appreciation in post #10) and the sail date given is NOT a sail date for either ship). JMHO, but if you choose not to "do sigs" (a perfectly fine choice, btw) then perhaps you should consider that this leaves you somewhat less informed when the post you're quoting specifically refers to information contained in a sig.
  21. Yet the OP's signature says Poesia in May, not Preziosa and it also says they are sailing on May 11th...which is not a sail date for either ship.
  22. Also...I tried to look at your cruise to see where you might disembark early. You say Preziosa in your post, but your signature says "MSC Poesia" for May.
  23. You also will want to check requirements for the country in which you intend to disembark as your "yes" from MSC only means that it is OK with them, not necessarily with the country itself. Some countries do not require visas for cruise passengers since you are only a "day visitor" stopping in for a few hours. However, the fact that you intend to permanently disembark in their country could change the requirements for the visa.
  24. Nope...NCLH in both instances...and yes, the "H" matters because NCL and NCLH are two different companies. FDR is the President/CEO of NCLH and Harry Sommer is the President/CEO of NCL right now. Harry Sommer will become President/CEO of NCLH and David Herrera will become President/CEO of NCL. Not dissimilar to understanding the difference between Carnival Corporation and Carnival Cruise Line. You do understand that the opinion of a cruise consumer doesn't really matter since the President/CEO of NCLH works for the BOD and the Stockholders and has to do what THEY think is "best", right?
  25. Well, FDR took over at NCLH...not at NCL, so we need to keep that in mind. When you say "a lot of it was not good", is that not good in your personal opinion, or not good in the opinion of the BOD of NCLH?
