OP is in Scotland. Are the rules there the same as here? I read the uk can have it's own rules, not sure if Scotland the same. Idk.. just asking.

So it's the pax fault and it's fair for them to eat the difference. I admit I rolled the dice on a flight next year. And paid more than the allowed $400 though the fcc and refund would help me get over it. But it's unfair to say the pax should not have booked non refundable. Just uncalled for imo.

It's cheaper probably to stay the night before at scottish inn. Then drop everyone but 1 person off at the terminal. Scottish inn offers free cruise parking and their hotel rate is often less than parking at the port. ... just saying. Sign 1 person up for their shuttle for $10 .. they offer a nice shuttle. The hotel is clean and has a pool but no elevator.. just saying I could save you money lol. Scottish inn is not close to anything, except across from the ferry but the price booked ahead is good,cheaper than parking at the port.

Wow thursday is when it's supposed to hit. I get orlando news and they are passing out 15 sand bags per resident, bring your own shovel. Friday ok, but thursday right now I'd say ...oh oh.

I think I said Baltimore for that big storm with deep snow so people wcoukdnt drive. But Galveston actually did have snow a few years ago. That time the windmills froze and I know in dallas we went without power and water off and on seemed like a week. Mid feb 2021 there was snow on the beaches in Galveston.

Then you have the wrong TA. I am solo and my TA has access to group rates I book all the time. I dont need any others. That's the group dept vs group rates many TAs on here have access to. Sorry I cant name a TA but there are some posting on here that you do NOT need 16 people and form a group. I have 18 booked solo and every single one is booked as a group rate and I rarely am aware of any others who book the same cruises I book. Also check a cabin with 2 and another with 4. A cabin with 2 is a different and usually a cheaper category. Booking 3 and 3 is the most expensive way generally to book. You have to book 2 cabins that hold 4 and are a more expensive category. Sorry but you are booking as if you have money to throw away.

I love the oat bars. I went to the WJ where they had them and had 2. I passed a lady with 3 on a plate coming out of the Mdr. She said her favorite dessert. I think the issue on the pork enchilada is they are ot pork enchiladas..they have a thick covering. I eat the pork out of mine, not that wierd covering. They should be wrapped in a tortilla where I come from in texas. Nothing to do with not served hot or cold. ..I like the butter chicken the same night but had the chilli lime salmon that night instead last week. Why would you let a waiter decide what you like? I know what I like. I know many memorize recommendations,... I dont listen. Yawn. Try the fruit bars yourself.

I lived in hawaii for 10 years and visited all the islands. I went back to hawaii to see a old boyfriend on celebrity, a one way and stayed there to visit. Waikiki is good for shopping and eating, commercial. Fish of the day is always mahi mahi. Ono is the best fish, ono means delicious but is always the name of the best fish most will agree. Maui has the most to see, my favorite. Flowers on the way up to the volcano are one of a kind in the world. Road to hana is almost impossible to do in one day even way back. The road is winding and of course you want to stop and see all the waterfalls. If you dont book a room in hana it's very very hard to do and get down and back in the same day, imagine driving to key west and back during high season except winding roads with a waterfall around every corner. Yes there is a bus you can do. I would want to stop and see stuff. The gold coast of miles of the best beaches. Idk about the whaling town after the fire. ..just so much to see. Diverse but expensive. My relatives like the poster here went to Kauai which in the middle is the rainiest spot on earth. You cant walk down into the Canyon here that is like the Grand Canyon, only fly over. From the other side you can drive to the cliffs and hike quite a ways but cant drive around the island. We drove into the middle where the black sand beaches are and wild pig country. I'm pretty sure our rental car company forbid where we drove it. Every yard has gorgeous flowers there. They grow so well. Where the poster stayed is the dry side, sunny and hot. We stayed at a beach in the rainy side as they say. Each island has a rainy and dry side. Big island has the volcano. I have never gone to hana it doesnt pour. Many white guys from the mainland think oh they dont mind rain, buy a 25 acre or smaller plot near hana and are gone in a year. It's like maintaining a jungle. Beautiful. Kona is the dry side where you see all the black lava rock. And horse country of course looks green just like kentucky at its best. Depends what you feel like spending imo. Kaui is beautiful and unspoiled but not as much to see. My bf had a childhood friend there and we kept busy but maui just can't be beat, but is costly, especially the gold coast. The road to hana is breathtaking. Imo one of the 7 wonders of the world and the volcano great hiking or renting a bike. The flowers are worth a side trip on the way up to the mountain. Cant do it all in a week. I've even been to the island where non hawaiians couldn't buy land, but it's off the tourist beaten path. Did you know surf contests are only in the winter. The surf only comes up from around Thanksgiving to early spring. You wouldn't see a surf contest in the summer. But better for swimming.

It is too bad you didnt find a travel agent with group rates if money is actually a issue. Group rates, with 2 in each cabin would have probably been cheaper. A good TA could have booked 3 inside cabins in a row. It just seems you say you want to throw away money on how you booked without checking how to actually save money.. and now claim the only way is auto tips. The way you booked unless you found a kids sail free, which you dont mention makes no sense. So you threw away a bunch of money how you booked. Most know never book direct. There is more to this story. .. surely.

If you live in texas you know that particular 8 day is much much higher $$$ than other dates. Texans were so excited to go to coco cay without driving. My cabin at one time inside balcony was well over $3500. I could book all 3 other legs for the price of going to coco cay out of texas. I kept it and flying there. But added the other 3 legs to make it worth while to fly there for a cruise to coco cay. I just dont believe his story, he booked this route on harmony and to save money removing tips. He didnt book a group rate because he woukd have 2 per cabin inside cabins, cant do 3 for a group rate I know of. I did a search for the cheapest inside cabin holding 2 adults 1 child late august 2025. .and prices go up from here. Inside..just over $3k per cabin X 2 so $6k. ..and hes worried about tips? I just think this is a made up story. Someone worried about a tight budget isnt paying over $6k to do harmony from texas anyway.

Did you go into your planner and click on lunch and then menu? I'd do it but it's a pdf file I dont like it downloading onto my tablet. Storage is tight.

Mine has a place to plug in to charge. I've never charged from just usb outlets, though I guess it's possible. My point is I just bought one new in the box for the rome hotel. And now its possibly not allowed. I have not seen a multi plug confiscated and when I see one with a picture then I'll know. Heresay isnt enough for me to decide. I'll keep it wrapped up and see if it gets thru. My guess is multi cubes with no cords get confiscated there will be pushback from cruisers. I want to see a picture of a confiscated cube.

I bought one too. I'm doing a b2b so they hold it both legs or 1? It's still new in the box, someone on the europe threads said to get it, now it might be banned. No cord, just a cube. To charge my tablet and phone. To me this is over the top stupid on royals part. Im going to wait for the threads and see what they actually confiscated before I react. This is to save them electricity? Talk about cheap.

You could have saved more with group rates with a TA. 3 interior cabins groupmrates probably cheaper than how you booked. When are you going? I have that booked oct 12, booked long ago in a inside balconys to save money. Western would have saved a lot more money. The 8 day to coco cay was by far the highest rate on harmony. So right off it's obvious it's not about saving money doing the 8 day to coco cay out of texas which is a more expensive choice. Depends on the date how much.

I can see if it had a cord but it doesnt even have a cord. And I dont plan on using it on the ship. It's new in the box for the hotel in rome. I think they have gone a little nuts.

Idk if chops was out of them that night or why when asked the waiter said he coukdnt give them a menu. I'd already looked but the couple next to me wanted a menu and the kid said sorry no menus. And told them off. As well as the girl I was esring with. She said she wasnt putting up with him and got a new waiter. Sometimes it happens. My journey cruise quite excellent but that vista cruise had a attitude. Chops especially. I guess they ran out of menus that night and didnt have them.

I ran into a couple of times where they were quite rude about menus. Vista, not my most recent, I did speciality dining 6 nights. The 7th night I meet a friend in chops who didnt have the menu on her phone. The waiter actually gave not only her but a couple seated next to us, mid 80s, a lecture on how they needed to scan the menu. She got so mad she requested another waiter. I could read the menu but my tablet I use doesnt have a scanner. I too think it's annoying cruiselines assume everyone needs to learn to scan, not just use their phone to scan. Scan to get a time to get off the ship? I agree it's out of hand. Annoying how the kids who are crew act if you dont have a scanner. I dont need to be lectured.

There are those saying couldnt they at least give us Bermuda or good ports. And waiting until 3 pm before they made the announcement after people unpacked isnt making them happier. Coco cay isnt special any more. One said they wish Georgia as a port, idk. They dont like the new ports. At least those complaining. Idk if any extra compensation. I'm just reading along. No idea if the captain had any better options. I'm just reading. You dont always get the ports you expect during hurricane season. Bermuda seems to be less and less on royal. Maybe bermuda is limiting ships, idk. But they didnt want coco cay. I woukdnt be happy unpacking and repacking. I'm sure was a exaggeration but the poster said they had 10 minutes to get off. Thank you. I have a tablet to take pictures I'm already worried about since they said on my excursion I can only bring 1 small purse. My tablet wouldn't fit in a small purse so I was hoping to leave some things in my safe. It's so worrying doing this for the first time.

Drive? I'm reading about some cruise now that was supposed to go to canada and waited until people boarding to tell them they were going to coco cay, bahamas not canada. They could disembark and get a refund or continue. The new cruise was now 10 days, I think 2 extra days. So those who booked planes and stayed on still had to change flights. Idk but they said the announcement came around 3 pm. Some of course saying surely the captain knew before they boarding, why wait so late. Packed for canada not Bahamas. No chance to change what you packed. Be flexible. I'd have liked 2 extra cruise days but idk if my heart was set on fall colors in canada. I am just reading, not commenting.

I'm on voyager in late may, 2nd leg ends in rome. I too hear it's going to be a zoo. I booked excursions and 4 nights in a hotel and then I decided to fly back to miami. Yes I have read miami will be terrible for customs. Royal wanted starting price for 1 rome to orlando $1510. That's why. But I will be in rome thru royal myself. I would say do your best. The excursion port we have that sold out before I even saw them was athens. We stop in 2 ports in greece and athens excursions sold poof. One single spot popped back up and I grabbed it, luckily I'm solo. It's not the best one, but we see acropolis from a viewing platform. If a better choice comes up I'll change but I want to stay with a group my first time. I booked to see greece tbh.. it's just happenstance it ends in rome. Rome was not on my bucket list... more I end there so might as well try and see it. Wrong timing for my first TA ... I plan to make the best of it. People think I'm crazy to go alone. Its that or stay home.

Ok one more newbie question. Do the rooms have safes? One of my tours says 1 small bag only. To expedite getting thru several security points, dont bring a big purse, backpack etc. If there is a safe do you consider it safe to leave stuff in it? I've read stories rome isnt safe.
