  1. Anymore, cost cuts and higher prices are everywhere. You are paying for prime, and getting select.
  2. They don't have to. The plus package is purchased by 75% of guests, and they are making huge amounts of profit on it, so they can let some go for free. I would guess this occurs when the bars are busy. The medallion isn't perfect, as if there are 10 people squeezing into a space at the bar, it's still time consuming for the bartenders to determine who you are, and for a coke or water, if you are busy, why bother.
  3. The drink packages only work if you drink a fair amount. We went packageless on our last cruise. I took on 3 packs of coke and sprite zero with no issue, and we drank those for the 8 days we were onboard. Very easy, and only about $15 spent. Since Princess doesn't offer the zero drinks, that is now our preferred method. We pay for wifi and gratuities, so our total cost for 2 was around $300, whereas the plus package would have been over $800. Easy decision for us. It's our new normal.
  4. That is the Power Up points subscription? I did find that one.
  5. How do you sign up for this? On my online account it says "Click the subscribe button at the top right", and there is no subscribe button at the top right.
  6. Thank you for the reply. Exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I will call about the wifi and tips and see if I can pay over the phone. I'm not seeing any OBC like you are showing, so I'm going to have to call my TA I think and ask, because the online booking shows it, but it's not displaying for me.
  7. So, we have our second cruise booked with Celebrity, on the Equinox in October. On our first, we had the all inclusive package (tips, wifi, drinks) and it was significantly cheaper than it is today, so I'm going ala carte this upcoming cruise. I see in the online reservation system for my existing booking that I can add wifi and I guess prepay. Do they every offer any kind of pre cruise or first day onboard discount of the wifi cost? It's very high, even for basic. Also, I was thinking to book the Tuscan Grill the first night because they offer a discount, but the only seating time online is 9:30, and that is way too late for us, does that ever open up, or could we book it now, board and call, and get a earlier time? Can you prepay gratuities? I thought I saw that, but now can't find it on my reservation. And lastly, is there somewhere you can see whatever OBC you got for your booking somewhere online? I thought I remember seeing it on the last cruise on the reservation somewhere, but I'm not seeing it under my login now. Thanks in advance for any replies. PS: I have read on threads that you can take your own soda/water on at embarkation and from ports. Do they really check how much? Princess says 2 packs per person, but they never actually check.
  8. From the conversation, I assume anyone at 1mb or lower is on basic, and anyone getting a higher speed is on premium. I guess they know that 1mb is good enough for web and email traffic, and lock it down there. I will have it because I do need to keep in touch with my work, but these prices are outrageous for what you are getting.
  9. Is this on the app or the website? I can't find a Cruise Planner on the website at all. I assumed it would be under manage reservation, but don't see anything about payment or OBC anywhere. Can you be more specific? Does it only show up after final payment or something?
  10. Thanks for that. We are the same. Go to few shows and just like to go back to the cabin and relax. I will bring some dvds and download some Netflix offline stuff. We love the options on Princess.
  11. Where do you see the obc online? I booked one, and know there was Celebrity obc, but I don't see it. Where is it in the online account?
  12. So you can't see OBC from the cruise line on your booking online either?
  13. I always tipped for room service, but removing the perk of getting food delivered from the DR stinks. I hate the directions cruise lines are going these days.
  14. Finally got search to give me some results, so I have the answer to this. Wouldn't let me edit the question. This, to me, is a sad change.
  15. I have a couple of Equinox questions if I may. What kind of on demand TV options in your room, do they have seasons of sitcoms, a selection of movies, etc? We cruise on Princess a lot and really like all the various options. Also, someone who responded to a comment I made on the Princess forums says that Celebrity has changed and now room service has a charge 24/7? And you can no longer order form the MDR menu for room service? Is that true?
  16. We are too in October. We went on Infinity last year and it was nice, but one of the oldest ships, and not refurbished. We booked one FCD and are using it now. I find all cruise lines have jacked up prices tremendously on any packages they offer, but Celebrity is still higher than Princess. And their wifi is terrible generally speaking, but I hope with starlink it will be better, but not seeing that on the celebrity forums. Last year on Infinity, you could order room service for no charge, and order from the DR menu, which was nice. We did it twice. If they have removed those, that will be a huge bummer. I was hoping Princess would offer that, a great perk that costs them nothing, so yeah, they won't do that.
  17. Interesting. I'm going to have to check on those. Thanks!
  18. I agree, to each his own on that. Whatever works for each couple is what they should do.
  19. I wouldn't say "a long way" behind, but it is cheaper than Celebrity in all ways still. But with all the recent jumps in price on virtually everything, they have certainly learned how to make more by providing nothing more. And if I'm not wrong, Celebrity only charges for room service from 11pm till 5am or something, so it's not a charge 24 hours. Unless that has recently changed. One thing I do like about Celebrity, is you can order from the DR menu and have it delivered. Would be nice if Princess did the same.
  20. There are some items that are available in both, but prepared a little differently. We haven't been to a DR in 15 cruises now. We just don't see the need. It used to take upwards of 2 hours to have the dinner, and we just saw it as a waste of time. We have pretty much always found plenty of what we like in the buffet and can be in and out in 30 minutes. That's our preference. We used to go to Crown Grill twice a week, but haven't done that either in a long time. And the recent cost increase will keep it that way.
  21. Side question to this. If you go to a specialty restaurant on embarkation day evening, could a man wear shorts? What if your luggage isn't delivered to your room prior to your reservation? Had this happen once on Princess, and no problem.
  22. Can you still order from the DR menu to deliver to your room at night?
