We booked one way tickets from Pittsburgh to Vancouver last July when Celebrity was running an airfare credit promotion.  Originally, the flight was to arrive at 11:36 pm on Thursday night, the day before the cruise.  I booked a nearby hotel with a shuttle that runs until 12:30 am.  Three times Air Canada has changed the flight arrival time, moving it later until now we are arriving at 12:51 am Friday morning, so now we will have to pay for a taxi/uber to the hotel.  Three times I have requested Flights by Celebrity to ask Air Canada to change our flights to arrive  before midnight and three times Air Canada has refused (per Flights by Celebrity).   I have spoken with an Air Canada agent who says that it should be allowed since they changed the flight times, but Flights by Celebrity says that when they submit the request due to schedule changes, Air Canada denies the request.  Now, prices for flights from our departure airport to Vancouver are through the roof and the flights we are on don't even show up as a selection.  I'm guessing it is just a very busy travel day and with the discounted flight, Air Canada won't even bother.  I won't be choosing Air Canada in the future, especially if using a travel agent.  I'm happy to be cruising and will just take a nap as soon as I get on board!

Air Canada has a flight about every hour to Vancouver, but unfortunately Celebrity air doesn’t have access to them all.  If you are before final payment maybe you should think about not using Celebrity Air & deal directly with Air Canada. When using Celebrity Air you have to be pretty flexible.

    Well that was a first!

My wife and I were relaxing on our balcony and our stateroom attendant finished cleaning the room and stepped out to make sure we did not need anything.  We assured him that everything was great. He left and we continued to talk to each other.

My wife got up to get something from the room only to find the balcony door locked. Apparently out stateroom attendant had locked it from force of habit when he closed the door after speaking to us.

Fortunately we are on the starboard side and I was able to shout and get the attention of a crew member on the dock who contacted our stateroom attendant.  A very embarrassed young man came and let us back into the room!

We had that happen to us on the Millennium on our April 8th cruise.  I think the room stewards have been told to automatically lock the door.  They just sometimes forget that we are out there.

  3. Thank you for all your information, really looking forward to being back on the Millennium tomorrow.  Right now we are enjoying the wonderful San Juan weather. Sure beats being at home with rain, snow ice etc.  I too was hoping they had Ron Zacapa rum, it was only in the World class bar on the Equinox oh well no problem.

Hello, I have a question for anyone who has used their Captain's Club benefit to purchase or upgrade their drink package. If I go through the motion to purchase a drink package in cruise planner, it does not seem to acknowledge any type of discount would apply based on my Captain's Club level. I am guessing that I have to call to make the purchase/upgrade to have that applied?

Also, I see conflicting information on the discount for Elite level. If I look at my summary of benefits for Elite on the web site, it says "10% off beverage package upgrade to Premium pre-cruise," which is also what it says for Elite Plus. However if you click "view all tiers and benefits" it opens the Member Benefits Brochure and that says for Elite, "15% discount on a drink package or on a premium drink package upgrade when purchased pre-cruise" and for Elite Plus, "20% discount on drink package or 15% discount on premium drink package upgrade when purchased pre-cruise."  Anyone used this benefit and can confirm the discount received?

    Thanks!
    Ken

I cannot tell you your exact discount but the only way to get it is you have to phone it in & talk to Captains Club.  You cannot get the discount online.

....and if I do  what are the chances I get it? How strict are they nowadays and what will happen if we show up at noon instead of 2 p.m?

If you want to change your time just go to the app, edit Express Pass & choose a new time.  If you show up 2 hrs early they may or may not let you in depending on how busy it is at the time.

Thanks for everyone's insight and advice here so far! We're counting down the days to our March cruise on Millie!

We're currently in an assigned A1 Aqua Class stateroom and have put in a Move Up bid to a Sky Suite. I see that there appears to be only one Sky Suite on deck 6 available at the present along with around 6 Accessible Sky Suites on other decks available.

I'm wondering if Celebrity would assign an accessible stateroom to someone who doesn't need the amenities? To be honest, I am not a fan of the bathrooms in the Accessible Sky Suites on Millennium from what I have seen as the sink storage space is limited, they don't have a bathtub and have a shower with a curtain. I know, know, this is a problem of privilege! I'm sure we would really enjoy the rest of the suite, Retreat and Luminae, but I'm wondering if the bathroom set up would disappoint given our circumstances. (I feel like a bit of a heel even asking about this!) I like the room location we have currently and have enjoyed Blu in the past so I'm weighing the pros and cons of keeping the upgrade offer. The price I've bid is within our means. And who really spends a lot of time in the bathroom while cruising? (Well, I usually do getting ready in the evenings! LOL)

I must share that I have a great deal of respect for those who travel with mobility devices and physical challenges. I'm hoping Celebrity reserves at least a few accessible staterooms per cruise for any last minute traveler who truly need them. 💙

There is no guarantee that that would be the room you would receive.  Just for your info the Sky suites are lovely on the Millennium except for a couple of things. The patio furniture was the most uncomfortable that I have ever sat on & the shower is in the bathtub which is very easy to get in but the floor is a lot lower to get out, so the accessible might fit the bill.  Also sky suites don’t have a full length mirror in the rooms they are actually on either side of the door entrance.  Lots of room though.

But why would they change it from refundable to non refundable in the first place?

All our reservations are refundable but some zealous people don’t look & just assume that we have non refundable without checking first, even though we always advise them.  Once changed Celebrity’s computer system does not allow it to be changed back.  The only way to have it show refundable is to cancel old reservation & get a new reservation #.  This is impossible if booked originally on board due to the OBC.

  8. This an ongoing problem with Celebrity.  Once a Refundable cruise is changed to Non refundable it cannot for some reason be changed back.  We have 3 cruises in the future that this has been done to.  Celebrity puts a big notice on your booking & is aware of the problem, it is usually done by a new person trying to do everything right!   You just have to make sure that any change you make to your reservation going forward you always remind them that it is a Refundable cruise booking.  You also should make sure you are paying the Refundable price,.

I just became Elite+ and my first cruise without AI is coming up next week.  When you say Specialty coffees are included, Outside of the Elite breakfast, does it include Café al Bacio all day and during meals?

I know it definitely covers Cafe al Bacio but not sure your waiter can get it during dinner in the MDR.

I used the Go Green option on my two recent cruises and absolutely did not notice a difference.  However, I have not seen that option offered on my January cruise.  Maybe it is being discontinued.

Hi Linda, we received our GoGreen yesterday for our cruise next Mon., so it’s not discontinued.

I had a guarantee once and room not assigned until 4-5 days before the cruise.

You are probably right, this is just an extra cruise this year to get us to that final level.    Always follow along on your trips with Iain,  I’m originally from Scotland.& David from Liverpool, it’s always a great read.  Celebrity can assign us whenever they want, no problem.

  12. I booked a Guarantee CC class for Silhouette on Dec 3, still no cabin assigned but received our E docs day after we booked.
We even received luggage tags, never seen that before & there are lots of cabins available.  At least you have been assigned a cabin.

Have fun. We did the prior canal transit in April. Was a big bucket list item for us and acted quickly when we saw FV cabins available. The addition/swapping of Solstice and Millennium created a lot of inventory,  great prices, and probably a lot of limited capacity sailings. We are taking advantage by doing Solstice B2B in a couple weeks. Sorry to hear it about PV.

Is Marren still one of the sommeliers?

Marren came back from leave on the ship when we were in Juneau last Alaskan cruise.  She is one of the best.
