Sorry one more question about the picking of seats?  So I assume I would get the file locator from Celebrity and then go on to the AC flight and be able to enter our info and purchase seats now/soon?  Is that correct?

Yes, make sure you tell Celebrity Air that you want the Air Carrier # so you can book your seats.  Flight must paid in full first.

I had the same issue as well and then I realized  Air Canada was defaulting to "US English" site .   You may want to check and see if the top of the Air Canada Page (1 o'clock location) is defaulting to Canada or US.  If you see the US flag, you can click and change it to Canada. Pricing should reflect CAD once changed.

Yes, I realize that it changes but I had the Canada page put in the booking # to access our flight & to book seats & it automatically changed it to US, I think it’s due to Celebrity Air being a US booking agent.  If you know how to pay for seats in Cdn $ with Celebrity Air I would love to know how.

So when I check the flight online it clearly indicates the price listed is in Canadian dollars (this i also an air canada flight) and it sounds like despite that it would be charged in US dollars - but that doesn't bother me either.....  Good to know - thanks

You are correct prices are in CDN $, but when I went to Air Canada site it & put in locater # it changed over the little flag at the top to US & charged us US $ for the seats.  Which was ok as the flight was so reasonable.

So researching flights for our January cruise - and decided to check out pricing on Celebrity as well.  (first time cruising celebrity)

So BIG substantial savings in the outbound flight we are interested in, so I am about to book (I prefer to do the return on my own - and no big savings there for some reason) and wanted to get input from those who 'know'! 🙂

Is there any reason I should not book with Celebrity?  Anything I need to know about managing the flight/checking in, seat selection (which I would pay for of course), etc?

    Your thoughts?  thanks

We are flying out on Mon & the only thing we noticed is that when it came to booking seats the charge was in US funds even though we booked in CDN $.

Celebrity Air is US booking agent so that is why Air Canada charged us in US & I seem to recall a few years back WestJet did the same thing.  Other than that it worked great, here’s hoping for the same thing.  When we came back WestJet we were booked on Air Canada but had a death in the family & had to get home a day earlier & they couldn’t have done more.

I do hope that it works out for you. We have an 11:20 flight and will probably change that to the following day. That will take the time pressure off, and even better, they've added a direct flight!

Let us know how things work out for you. Bon voyage!

Thank you, David is way more optimistic than I am, he firmly believes that Celebrity will take care of us.  Me not optimistic, we only booked this cruise with Celebrity Air as they claim to look after you both ways as we never fly in or out same day just this time so should be interesting.  On saying that when the shooting occurred in FLL airport a few years ago Celebrity Air did look after us & I think we were the last ones on the ship. Here’s hoping they get us home as promised.

Yes, the Safe Passage Home program continues, but it clearly specifies that it applies "If you test positive for COVID-19 onboard during your cruise".  So if you are tested on shore after disembarkation and the conclusion of the cruise, it appears that you won't be covered. In typical Celebrity fashion, they are making changes without providing explanations of the potential ramifications.

I've seen that PDF. It is dated and no longer reflects what the Healthy at Sea webpages now state. Once again, contradictory information. Based on actual experience by current posters, testing is not always conducted aboard as the PDF erroneously states.

After much consideration we have decided to still cruise. We cruise on Monday,  the way I see it is if there are too many people requiring the PCR test for them to handle it will be done on shore when we return.  We booked our flights also with Celebrity Air & our return flight is 12:30 pm, we also have Nexus so should be interesting. Will let you all know.

It always concerns me when I hear that an HQ unit like the Engagement Desk is going to check with a ship to see what they are thinking of doing instead of determining from the HQ policy makers what the corporate policy is. I recognize that ships' captains have a certain amount of independence, but surely on an issue like, this there has to be a clear, unified policy.

I'm looking forward to hearing what she has to say.

Totally agree, I think the answer will be as vague as their website, meaning it is determined by how many require the PCR test on that particular ship.   I will let you know if we hear back at all.

While I cannot comment on what is happening on other Celebrity ships, we are currently on the Millennium 15 day Panama Canal cruise that left San Diego on Oct 27 and arrives into FLL on November 11. Our PCR tests are here on board  and are scheduled for the morning of the 10th.

That’s a good sign, at least gives us renewed hope but I still want to hear from the powers that be what is the ruling going forward.

I've looked at both the Canadian and US sites and see no change to the Healthy at Sea pages. Could you provide us with a link?

If you click Healthy at Sea, then Country Testing Requirements, US requirements as of Nov 5, scroll all the way down to the bottom, the wording here has changed.  It’s not exactly Cruise with Confidence if you don’t know going in what to expect.

This is a game changer. If this is this case, Celebrity can no longer honour their so called "Healthy at Sea" pledge, which continues to state that tests required for home country will be provided on board. As a result, uimage.png.6d0263b67a4f9a1e8be82614a1d52dd6.pngnless the Canadian Govt removes their requirement for a negative PCR test for fully vaccinated returning travellers, I will be cancelling our Dec 3rd sailing on the Silhouette, as we cannot get insurance for quarantine and return transportation in the event of a positive test post cruise.

It looks like Celebrity changed their wordings on Nov 5, on the website.

  11. This is very disheartening, we booked our Nov cruise on the premise that Celebrity would look after us if we got Covid onboard their ship, now to find out that we will not be given the PCR test until after we disembark.  We do have insurance that covers Covid but not Trip Interruption which is what this would be if positive as we would not be allowed to fly home.

  12. We are long time Celebrity cruisers, it’s hard to know what is the best time to book since the Pandemic.  On saying that right now until Dec 13 they do have 50% off 2nd person.  They usually had a Black Friday sale but who knows this year.  We usually book far in advance &  when we are onboard as its only $100.each, deposit & you can change to whatever cruise you want.  We always do Refundable but that is a personal choice but it always gives us more flexibility if we need to cancel.

hope this helps with your decision.  We really enjoy  Celebrity ships but their website not so much.  I think they have a shareholders credit if you have I believe 100 shares.

I booked a cruise on Edge for January 30 2022 on Friday. Yesterday my sister decided she would like to go so I booked her the cabin next to mine. 24 hours later still  waiting for invoice so we can book flights. However, deposit was applied immediately and pending in her bank account. Disgusting service and it will get worse. My CVP is on holiday and wanted to take advantage of resident rate which ends tonight.

I have found that if you put a hold on a cruise, you have 24 hrs to finalize & 9 times out of 10 they will get back to you right away.  Works like a charm.

We are looking to book a Celebrity cruise for January. We’d be covered if anything happened concerning covid and we’re checking into my DHs work medical insurance if we’re covered while cruising for any other possible medical mishaps but I’m concerned we won’t be able to find cancellation/interruption insurance…this is keeping me from finalizing the booking. What is everyone else that’s cruising from Canada, or Ontario specifically, doing for that? Thanks!

We took insurance for Medical with Blue Cross plus interruption & cancellation. They cover Covid through Medical & I know that they will not cover us while we have a Travel level 4 for cruises for cancellation  but every other reason is covered & we feel comfortable with what Celebrity is offering with Cruise with confidence so it’s definitely better than just staying at home.  The level 4 may not be around in Jan.

Yes, the wording is FCC for cruise fare, does that include Cruise Airfare booked through Celebrity that would have already been paid for and ticketed?  Thanks.

To be honest, I really don’t know about the flights.  We got a really good rate with Celebrity air so taking a chance but if worse comes to worse the airline has been allowing  a one time change since Covid  if used within a year from booking date but really hoping it doesn’t come to that

So I did spend a long time searching here and on Celebrity's site, and found what they do for air booked through Celebrity once you have arrived at boarding or during the cruise.

Could not find what they do for the option of canceling 48 hours or more or if one tests positive at the 2 day prior to cruising requirement.  Anyone know?

    Thanks.

It’s under the Cruise with Confidence.  If you test positive in the 48 hr requirement before the cruise they will give you an FCC.  You must have booked before Oct 31, 2021.
