  1. Curious. I just found some recent ones like this one: Also search for Argostoli.
  2. I second cruisemom's suggestion. Stay either at the hotel at the airport or, better yet, stay in the town of Fiumicino. Fiumicino is a pleasant seaside town 10 minutes by taxi from the airport. While there you can visit the ruins of Ostia Antica or simply enjoy a nice day at the town. There are plenty of taxis to take you to the airport next day.
  3. Search this board for Kefalonia. There are several good posts about it.
  4. https://www.friend-in-france.com/ We have used them several times. Fully recommend them. They will give you a quote for a tour added to the transfer. We have done that a couple of times when traveling with friends unfamiliar with the area.
  5. The center of things in Venice is St Mark's square. Look for hotels in that neighborhood. Hotel prices range from stratospheric to reasonably-priced (for Venice). Go to Google maps and bring up Venice and search for hotels. They will pop up with prices. Search this board for hotel recommendations.
  6. It is two hours if you get on the shuttle bus at the pier and drive straight to Venice. It is longer if you have to go to the train station and wait for a train that also takes 2 hours to get there. I am glad you decided to skip the last night in the ship and stay in Venice. Also give some thought to spending two nights in Venice and the rest of the time in Rome. You can't do everything and shortchanging Florence will not do it any justice. Consider saving Florence for another trip. Quality time in Venice and Rome is best given the time you have.
  7. You get off in Trieste. On June 11 take the transfer from the ship to Piazzale Roma in Venice and stay in Venice. Going back to the ship for the last night does not compare to staying in Venice. Note: Check my post #3 above. You may have read it before I edited it and added a lot of stuff to it.
  8. Agree, but she has one night there and is trying to "see it all."
  9. Two hours. Seriously consider giving up the last night on board and staying in Venice instead.
  10. To maximize your time in Venice, stay at a hotel on or very near Piazzale Roma right near the train station. That is also where the NCL bus will drop you off on June 11. Leave your bags at the hotel desk and you will be ready to start sightseeing right away. The next day you will be only a few steps away from the train to Florence.
  11. There is only one way to do it all. For sure, disembark early on June 11 and spend one night (June 11) in Venice. Venice is wonderful at night and you do need at least two days there to enjoy it, but one full day is the bare minimum. All the traveling back and forth to Trieste would eat up your time there. NCL (any line) will allow early disembarkation if you notify them prior to the cruise. You give up one night on the ship, but you get a night in Venice (gondola ride?). I would suggest train to Florence on June 12 and spend the night there. Tour Florence on June 12. Then on June 13 take the winery tour and have the driver take you to the train station to take a late train to Rome. (You will have your suitcases with you in the tour.) Stay in Rome the nights of June 13 and 14 and spend the day and next morning sightseeing. Leave for Civitavecchia early afternoon on June 15. It is crazy, but it is what you want to do.
  12. Here is the bus info: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Port-of-La-Spezia/La-Spezia-Centrale-Station#r/Bus
  13. Search this board for others in your cruise line that have stopped at La Spezia. See if they mention a shuttle to the station. Or post in your cruise line forum and ask the question.
  14. I imagine you can get a taxi or maybe there is a ship's shuttle. It isn't a long walk. BTW - I misspelled the website. It is trenitalia.com
  15. You can go by train with a change in Viareggio. It takes a little over one hour. treitalia.com
  16. You can take lots of pictures from the outside, especially from the side facing the Forum. It is wide open for great pictures. Your only chance to go inside is with a private tour. No chance to buy tickets on-site. If you need to shorten your itinerary, skip Trevi and take a taxi to the Navona-Pantheon area. That would save you a lot of time for a 5 minute photo op at the fountain.
  17. You could go to Mistras from Nafplion on a long port day. About the same driving time as from Monemvassia.
  18. The last time (our 3rd visit) we were there we took the 3D tour of the site. It was really interesting seeing the "reconstruction" of the site. And the museum is wonderful as cruisemom said. Here is a video of the Pirgos museum. Needless to say, it is nothing like the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, but it will certainly be of interest to cruisemom. 😁 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_UO29jvoQuA&t=630s&ab_channel=ΕλληνικόςΉλιος The choice is Olympia or Olympia.
  19. Thanks, cruisemom! I found the post. I thought I had posted more, but it is what it is. It was the first or second cruise where Monemvassia had been added to the SB itineraries.
  20. Bummer. I agree. I could have copied a few old posts.
  21. Great pictures, Julie. After seeing the menu, I recommend the tomato patties (fritters). They are a specialty of Santorini, but good here too.
  22. Me again. And I sure wish my posts had not been deleted. We really enjoyed Zadar. SB docks right in town by the sea organ. We took the walking tour of Zadar and at the end just wandered around town. It is a delightful place as cruisemom said. We decided not to go out of town to the park because this was a cruise tacked on to the end of three weeks in Greece. We are glad we stayed there. Some people who went to the park said that it was very nice, but either that the visit was too short or too long, So whatever that means... BTW - the Zara stores are named after Zadar.
  23. Wiped out. Nothing before 2021. Have you checked your own posts to see if the same thing happened to you? Just curious...
  24. Alessandro Perrone https://pugliaexperience.wordpress.com/ We wrote to him and he sent us about 10 suggested itineraries of various places and cities in the area (including Lecce 😉). We picked this one: tour 6 martina franca (baroque city), noci, alberobello, locorotondo (a quaint hamlet with a unique circular layout), ostuni it's similar to the tour nr 5 but without polignano a mare and with martina franca and locorotondo https://pugliaexperience.wordpress.com/2016/03/08/charming-valle-ditria/ in martina franca it's also possible to visit a dairy to see the cheese making process of mozzarella and to taste some cheese (mozzarella, caciocavallo, etc.) and capocollo di martina (a pork meat cold cut, slow food presidia). The "tasting" was big enough for a lunch!
