  1. You really are all over the place with your planning. I second the suggestion to get or borrow travel guides to get an idea of where you are going and to get a fuller picture of what to see in each area. Seeing the whole picture in a book first is a lot more helpful than scattershot questions and internet searches. Don't stay with just the Rick Steves' guides. Look for other books like the Insight guides that have wonderful pictures and a different perspective. This will help you ask questions more targeted to your interests and to put in context the answers you get here.
  2. That is a small beach that you got to by small boat. There are other beaches and towns on the island. Search this board.
  3. Maybe we will luck out next time. Both previous times we got the 6th floor. But NO complaints.
  4. That's useful. Judging by the design of the balconies, the one that Lew liked was the one on the lower floor with the stone balcony.
  5. I couldn't find one. Here are a couple of pictures of the balcony rail. As you can see, it is on the same floor as Lew's. Actually, it was 605, two windows to the right of his. The size was fine. It was small by US standards, but not cramped. It looked like the one mahdnc just posted.
  6. Another view ftom the rooftop.
  7. I am reposting it. Also, in post #714 some commented on it so it should still be visible.
  8. Don't know what the problem is. It shows up on all my devices. I wonder if anyone else has the same problem seeing them.
  9. It isn't huge, but plenty of space for your luggage. Very nice bathrooms.
  10. We stayed at the Albergo for three nights last year. We had the superior room. I suggest you email them asking to reserve for your three nights. Let them tell you whether they will rent it to you or not. You don't have to get into that discussion in your email. According to price and their answer, you can cancel the Smeraldo reservation.
  11. As euro cruiser said, there are a couple of things to see, but not enough to keep you busy on a long port day. Consider Mt Etna and/or Taormina if you haven't been there before.
  12. It's midnight Rome time. However, reseller bots scoop up all the tickets instantly leaving only one. If this happens buy the Italian or Spanish tours and follow it with the coopculture app. Sometimes additional tickets are released closer to the date.
  13. Price, more choice and easier to get there. Also, from Sorrento you can go to Pompeii by train and to Capri by ferry. But if you find a good place to stay on the AC, go for it. Make sure you are at a port with a ferry stop. Some of the AC ferries also go to Capri which is also spectacular. Google the ferry routes out of Salerno and out of Naples to give you an idea of where they intersect and the travel posibilities. And for Pompeii, do it as cruisemom says on your way to where you are staying (AC or Sorrento) if on a road transfer. If you decide to stay in Sorrento, you could go there from Naples by ferry, and then you can take the train from there to Pompeii and back. Lots of possibilities
  14. If the OP stays in Sorrento, they should definitely consider going to Capri for a day.
  15. Ferries are best to travel along the coast. Taxi or bus to where you are staying on the coast. Train or taxi to Pompeii and Herculaneum from Naples and/or Sorrento. Train or taxi to/from Naples ans Sorrento. PS It's hot in CLT today!
  16. Do check hotels in Praiano. It is between Positano and Amalfi. It is very pretty and the prices are lower.
  17. Sorrento is pretty, but not as much as Positano and Amalfi. It is a good choice to be based on if you are using trains and ferries. You still need wheels for the Amalfi coast unless you take the ferry from town to town.
  18. Naples has more price ranges than Positano or Amalfi. Sorrento would be next and it would be a nicer place to stay. But search hotel websites for places in Positano and Amalfi - you never know. Another choice would be in one of the smaller towns of the coast like Praiano. Another question is how are you planning to get around? Sorrento is a good choice because you can take the train there from Naples. That same train stops in Herculaneum and Pompeii. From Sorrento you can take an excursion, bus or ferry to the Amalfi coast towns and also a ferry to Capri.
  19. The museum is great, but do not miss going to the necropolis.
  20. If your port is Cadiz, the best and most interesting excursion is to Seville. Second, the villages outside Cadiz , such as Jerez, Santa Maria, etc. with time to enjoy some of Cadiz itself. Gibraltar is too far and not enough of interest there.
  21. From which port? And I would take Cadiz over Gibraltar any time.
  22. Check out romecabs.com. They offer this kind of tour-transfer. You have many options since you are not limited by time. Also consider staying in the town of Fiumicino instead of the airport hotel. It is a pleasant seaside town with good restaurants. It is only a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport.
  23. And this were the search results: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/search/?&q=Kefalonia&type=forums_topic&quick=1&nodes=463&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy
