  1. Absolutely! If you're okay with posting your email, I'll email you the information ----- It is ok to post that info about the sailboat here. It is a tour enymarsh has taken and can recommend it. Others might like it also.
  2. Go to the Acropolis on Friday. You will be over jetlag and ready to get up early to go there.
  3. Yes. It is the best way to see everything without crowds. There are no lines getting in. There will be several similar private tours going through, but they will be well spaced apart. The breakfast is at the end of the tour when you will see the crowds arriving.
  4. Consider a private tour with Spain Day Tours or other providers. They can pick you up at the ship and take you on a tour of Barcelona, which can include tickets to La Sagrada Famila. They could also take you to Monserrat and then visit a cava winery and lunch. Your luggage will be safe in the car and they will get you to the airport by 4:30, which is the earliest you would be allowed to go through security for your flight. Else, consider the options of luggage storage and touring Barcelona on your own. The prospect of sitting at the airport for at least 7 hours before you can even get to the lounge/gates side is horrendous. You. really have more than enough time for an enjoyable day in and around Barcelona.
  5. I strongly second Hank's advice. However, if you insist on the seaside, I would recommend staying in Fiumicino or in Ostia. They are very near the airport, have sandy beaches and very good seafood restaurants. They are the closest beaches to Rome and more of a resort with better hotels than Civitavecchia. It will also be easy to arrange a transfer to the port from there.
  6. If the OP is tendered to Nice, all they. need to do is walk to the city along the beach, and all beaches have restaurants with chair rentals. They start just past the huge memorial monument on the Rauba-Capeu promontory at the port and just in front of the La Perouse hotel.
  7. The HO-HO is the "One-day" round-trip ticket. You keep your ticket and use it to get on again at each port. You don't have to buy round trip. You can also buy an "All Stops - One Way" ticket and use it to go on-off in one direction. Look at the FAQs in the website. I have not heard of tickets being sold out. Yes, it does get canceled if there is bad weather. It is rare in the summer. It happened to us once, but there is the train as backup.
  8. The Gambero Rosso magazine just published this funny and revealing article, "Crimes Against Italian Cuisine:" https://www.gamberorosso.it/notizie/crimini-contro-la-cucina-italiana-i-peggiori-nei-confronti-dellolio-doliva/ If you can't read Italian, open it and use the translate function.
  9. You may or may not find tour operators at the dock in Kusadasi to take you to Ephesus. However, the quality of the guides may not be the greatest and the visits to the carpet factories would be their main interest. You would also have to negotiate a price right there instead of having a guaranteed price from a tour operator. Pre-book a tour (private or shared) with one of the many reputable companies mentioned in CC. Make sure that the tour includes a visit to the "apartments" in Ephesus and tell them you do not want to visit rug, leather, or other factories if you don't want to.
  10. The best view of the villages is from the sea. You might want to consider taking the ferry from La Spezia to CT and use it to get from one village to the next, starting in Riomaggiore and ending in Monterosso (you can get on and off like a HOHO). Then use the train to go back to La Spezia. Trains run much later than the ferries. Here is the link to the CT timetables for the ferries: https://www.navigazionegolfodeipoeti.it/en/timetables#linea02
  11. The best risotto di mare l ever had was at L'Ancora della Tortuga.
  12. True. Read the descriptions. The Spanish tours offered last year were the exact equivalent to the English tours. I didn't check the Italian versions to see if they were the same.
  13. The advantage is that you actually get to go to the underground. And COOP Culture has a free app where they have descriptions of everything you will be seeing. Search for "coop culture" and the Parco Colosseo official app shows up. It will all be cheaper than buying the same tour from a tour company.
  14. Yes, you can get off at both pick up spots. Read the flyer. If you are coming back from Nice, get off in Antibes and get on the Petit Train there. Go to Juan first for a quick look around or skip getting off. You can see a little of the beach from where the train ends. Then spend time in Antibes after you finish the PT ride. The advantage of doing it like this is that you would have seen the main spots in Antibes from the PT and will know what you want to walk back to. Do the Petit Train if you have at least two hours in Antibes. One hour for the ride and one to spend in the city. If you have less time, just spend it in Antibes. The advantage of the PT is that you get to ride around the base of the Cap d'Antibes and have a quick look at Juan. I doubt if you will get any answers from anyone who has actually taken it because it is very new. But you never know. Don't stress about it. Decide on the spot.
  15. The problem is accessibility to Positano. If you really want to see it, skip Sorrento. Specify to your tour company that you want to visit Pompeii and Positano.
  16. Sort of. Tour companies use bots to buy all the tickets as soon as they sre available. You have to be very quick or you have to buy tickets for the Spanish or Italian tours.
  17. The Petit Train in Antibes is very new. I have not taken it, but I am very familiar with the area. The train goes between Juan-les-Pins and Antibes. Juan is the train stop before Antibes and it is a beach resort town with a very nice, long sandy beach (where I have spent a lot of time). The Petit Train stop in Juan is by the beach and only a 3 minute walk from the Juan train station. The Petit Train stop in Antibes is a 10 minute walk from the train station. The Petit Train stop in Antibes is right in the old town and a short walk to the Provençal Market, the Picasso Museum, the Ramparts and the incredible marina with all the mega-yachts. My advice would be to take the train from Cannes to Juan-les-Pins and then the Petit Train to Antibes. Get out in Antibes for walking around sightseeing and then the Petit Train back to Juan. There are very good restaurants in Antibes. Make sure you have the Soupe de Poissons (fish soup) and the Grilled Daurade (sea bream). The beach in Juan is lined with restaurants where you can also rent beach loungers. If you eat there, have the Salade Niçoise. And anywhere in the area, have the local rosé wines.
  18. In that case, do a little search of youtube videos for the places mentioned in each tour. The mountain lookouts in the Western tour might appeal to you more.
  19. They both end up in the East in Porto Azzurro which is a very pretty town. They both seem to have a lot of driving. The Western more so with the drive over the mountains. Are those the only choices? You might want to find one that includes Napoleon's Villa San Martino. I would prefer the Eastern one if those are the only choices.
  20. It's a 5 hour drive from Athens or about 2.5 hours from Thessaloniki. The best thing would be to spend a few days in Greece before or after the cruise and take a private excursion there. If you turn it into a 2-3 day trip, you could also go to Meteora. Check prices with a tour operator such as George's Taxi. taxigreece.com
  21. Tell us what else is included. Eastern probably has Napoleon's house and Porto Azurro. Western could be more mountains and seashore views. Unless you are more specific we can't tell you whether to go East or West.
