  1. The same applies now for Alfredo's on Princess too. Unless you have a plus/premier package, there is a per head charge. Not something I would pay for either, but at least you can grab N/C slices of Princess pizza on deck.
  2. Frustrating not to be seeing the $US. It is interesting how they hedge these, as the conversion appears to be linked to the time you booked. For cruises booked: - A bit over a year ago for next month, Aussie price is $33.75, $67.50, $135, (74 cents to the dollar). - Early this year for next Feb, Aussie price is $36.25, $72.50, $145 (69 cents to the dollar) - Booking May this year for 2025 is also $145 per 100.
  3. Nah, the fish lip crowd saved cruising and brought all the pretty ships back - just ask them 🤣
  4. I guess if I was 10 years younger, I would be taking fish lip selfies in front of cruise ships to share on InstaFace
  5. Key word is racketeers. Not only importing grog but controlling supply and pricing. Anyone trying to make sly grog in competition was shut down or arrested by the same redcoats that were aiding supply of the official drop. ICAC would have had a field day. Lots of modern-day parallels when you think about it, except it is mostly private sector these days. Free enterprise at work.
  6. The out take is better, and probably truer than the official slogan.
  7. For the rare breed of under 40's that frequent this place
  8. Glad you picked-up on that. Pretty sure the "rum" corp had their hands in the till, sort of an unofficial tax. Correct, the rebellion was about overthrowing Bligh - that guy just didn't know how to get on with people.
  9. For all the backlash at the slow response by Australian authorities, it is interesting to see the wording of cruise line health policies. Australian protocols were "owned" by health officials, not politicians and it is interesting how closely they aligned to what the cruise lines still recommend. Carnival Australia: Vaccines - Although vaccines are not required, we encourage all guests, 5 years of age and older, to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines, when eligible, and carry proof of vaccination, Testing - Will test anyone in the terminal that is displaying symptoms, and deny boarding to anyone testing positive, Masks - Masks are not required on board during your cruise. However, we recommend guests wear masks in public indoor spaces, outdoors when in large congregate events if they’re feeling unwell or exhibiting symptoms of illness. Isolation - Any guests exhibiting symptoms of illness are encouraged to go to our medical centre. Guests who are diagnosed with contagious illnesses may be required to move to an isolation stateroom until our medical team determines if it is safe to resume cruise activities. Still recommending what used to be enforced - maybe AHPPC was on point.
  10. I don't know what Viking has planned for testing, but they may well be running their own show anyway. Currently, it shows that they require all passengers to be vaccinated for all voyages departing up till the end of October. From November 1, they will allow unvaccinated passengers aboard. Other cruise lines just abided by local authorities, Viking is setting their own standards above & beyond.
  11. My initial thoughts is they work for Princess, so they aren't going to be likely to give much away. Being new, she has achieved one other thing. The cruise that was showing as one of your previous planner's sales is now showing on her books as her sale.
  12. Heading east, one island at a time. 😁
  13. There is more to it than that. The GO fares are usually geared to last minute pack and go - note the punitive bit about non-refundable deposits and cancellation charges. When the cruise gets inside final payment, those GO fares will drop in accordance with available cabins. At other times, these fares are usually a bit cheaper than their other fares too - you are locked in to losing your deposit if you ever choose to reprice a better deal later. You have 3 options, and paying the extra for option 2 and getting the OBC is much better than option 1 - up until final payment date. But yes, spin/smoke & mirrors/hype is always a sales tactic.
  14. Commonly available substance that makes a mess but is inert and comparatively easy to clean up - even when there are eggs being thrown about. I presume it is much more fun on Grand Princess than on HMAS Onslow.
  15. Lots of islands out there, so they all look Greek to me. 😉
  16. That NCL lanyard does narrow it down a bit.
  17. Seeing you stumped the panel, would you like another go Mic?
  18. That I don't know Lozzie. I have walked out with coffees, or heading to dinner with an unfinished drink or two, but not with takeaways or bottles of water. @Chiliburn would know for sure.
  19. Cruise lines will navigate as close to a cyclone or hurricane as is safely possible. Rhapsody of the Seas has been based in Haifa, yet so far have only cancelled some cruises up till the end of October. There are 2 more cruises to complete the season, and Royal is still selling them in the hope they will be able to sail from Haifa on 1st November.
