  1. Not that it was a particularly memorable meal, but Barb did fall asleep at Chops one night following a session of generous pours in the lounge.
  2. This was posted but a couple of days ago. By going in and doing a dummy purchase and stopping before the payment page, it gives the discounted price for a single purchase. Click the link at the top to go to the relevant post. May you enjoy good company with your beverages in the lounge.
  3. From a recent discussion, one person booking the package gets 25% off, so you can independently get 25% off each. You are right though. If you can get through the day with 2 drinks before concierge lounge and three after, you will be way in front without the package. My experience of concierge lounge is that they have generous pours, so you can do a fair bit of damage in 2 1/2hrs
  4. Less cases on land also translates to less cases at sea. take precautions for sure, but you still need to enjoy a short holiday.
  5. There has to be initial disappointment, but nearly always for good reason. Russian ports, Black Sea ports, Maui, and now Holy Land cruises. Rabaul was skipped by Pacific Encounter a few days ago, apparently due to unrest. While it might get a bit repetitive cruising the same ports, how good have we got it in this part of the world when we are usually only contending with weather and dirty hulls.
  6. Isn't asking others to do the work for you also forbidden?
  7. One thing to note about this pool. On Princess, this pool was free access, even though the Sanctuary had a per day charge. On P&O, it reads that the pool is now part of the suite package, and I don't know if that was part of your plans. Byron Beach Club P&O Cruises Australia will be offering a limited number of guests exclusive access to a private ‘beach club’ onboard its newest ship, Pacific Adventure. The retreat will be available to guests booked in to Pacific Adventure’s suites and selected mini suites. The exclusive-access retreat offers a private outdoor pool, whirlpool spas and comfy seating situated on the top deck of the ship. With expansive sea views, club-goers can enjoy pure relaxation and pampering in stylish surroundings.
  8. Wow Stu, the days are skipping by. Shame about Horatio Hornblower not being aboard.
  9. Awesome. We had a forward facing cabin booked for Celebrity Edge early next year, but we chose to cancel it. It was a cruise to Tassie, and we were hoping for a bit of bumpiness. Thanks, very much midship for Majestic for us this time. We had a cabin above the theatre last year, and there was very little movement in moderate seas.
  10. They will be normally be provisioning in Honolulu, and will top-up whatever they need in Auckland. Making the most of their day for suitable restocking also saves time/volume needed on their first turnaround day in Sydney. Hopefully your embarkation will be smooth, and the fruity cough is under control.
  11. These Crow-Eaters - forever causing trouble 🤣 The joke has seen many days and I get the overall offence. We certainly aren't as specific to refer to our federal pollies as being from Capital Hill, where as our state derision is targeted at Phillip Street for NSW, Spring Street for Victoria etc. Then again, Canberra was gazetted for the purpose of housing a federal government, and the saying in the 90's was that the ACT was famous for two things. Canberra is a beautiful place - Floriade, stunning federal buildings, spacious. I love visiting when I get a chance, and driving is much easier since the satnav was invented.
  12. No, there is nothing on Tassie's current (or recent) page that points to any restrictions. The guidelines are generic, not covid specific - the way they used to be prior to March 2020. I am going with the notion that a few cruise lines were ignorant to the changes. All of the RCI & Carnival brands needed all of a couple of days to remove restrictions for Australia, including Tasmania.
  13. Port Douglas is a good pick for the reef. There is heaps to do in and around Airlie Beach, but you pretty much need to pre-book. Been a while, one of the best things we have done in that part of the world is a heli-tour to Whitehaven Beach. They have other options, and nice to see the reef & islands from above. Airlie Beach Helicopters: Whitehaven Rest & Relax - Sailing Whitsundays (sailing-whitsundays.com) To do on the day, you can walk off breakfast and head to the markets or lagoon.
  14. Are you booked on Majestic Princess for the end of this month? I am presuming you are. In that case, it is the last 5 nights of a $US relocation cruise from Los Angeles to Sydney. $US aboard and daily grats apply. Majestic changes to $AU currency when she ends her relocation in Sydney on 4th November - nothing new for a US to Australia relocation.
  15. They have comedians (loosely termed) on many of the local ships, including Pacific Adventure. Not just the comedy cruises - what an April fools joke that would be 🤣 I had a double take when I saw Jeff Green. He shares his name with the worst boss I ever had, and I have had a few over the years.
  16. Thanks for all that. I was suggesting to some friends, we should make the most out of the double Conflict Island stops and do the PNG cruise next year. A couple of bits of feedback were offered around dining room: Food was crap Service was non-existent Food was inedible Bread & water would otherwise be OK, but the bread was stale. I get the vibe, and we will keep the MDR for brunch only.
  17. Lol Neil, slightly varied, it is a phrase to someone being a bit overdressed. I don't know of an exact origin, but it was popularised in this book/movie.
  18. We are cruise people. Yes, the free drinks would make all the difference, but we are a handful of days short of Diamond. Plan B would be have us booking another suite, but they have jumped prices a heap, especially the inclusive Star Class ones. The half World is on Crown Princess.
  19. Odyssey of the Seas was meant to be on a sea day heading towards Haifa today, but are berthed in Turkey (Bodrum) instead. Ship stalking is a fun hobby.
  20. Would love to do Odessa, or should I say it would have been nice to have done Odessa. Our half world cruise is the "calmer" half - From Dover, Norway, Greenland, Iceland, Canada, US, Panama, Peru, Pacific to home. Apart from that, we are planning exciting cruises to QLD & PNG.
  21. I also hope everyone is OK, and every effort would be made to give any ships a safe passage. - Nautica was in Haifa on Fri/Sat, and was due in Ashdod yesterday, but diverted well away towards their next port of Limossol. The ship is safely approaching there now. - Norwegian Gem was scheduled to be in Ashdod yesterday. Currently berthed in Limossol, per schedule. - Celebrity Apex - Scheduled to be in Haifa yesterday, and Ashdod today/tomorrow. Currently berthed in Limossol - Rhapsody of the Seas. Due to end her current cruise in Haifa later today, and is en route. I hope they play it safe. - Nieuw Statendam was in Haifa Sat/Sun, and was due in Ashdod today & tomorrow. Just about to arrive in Alanya, Turkey instead - Norwegian Jade, Odyssey of the Seas & Mein Schiff 5 are due in Ashdod in the coming days, but would likely be making other plans.
  22. A true penguin suit. Smarter than a pox doctors' clerk.
  23. Happened to several ships here last season, mostly as they were caught off guard with the new requirements. It could happen to any of the ships on your shortlist, and others, but I think they are on top of it now. There is much more chance of missing the fjords due to rough weather than there is to miss because of cling-ons on the starboard bow.
  24. Yes, I commented as such. These were on 3 nighters that were among the first following the launch of premier packages. More obvious on Coral, with more limited numbers that could be catered. There were passengers told to take their voucher to the dining room to order surf & turf. I get why they changed this. Way back when, you couldn't pre-book with vouchers. They thought they could entice people to use the app by having their vouchers on it. Alas, a large number of their passengers don't have smartphones, or even any type of mobile. So yes, they screwed-up by not capping the number of premier fares per voyage. But even now you can pre-book with a credit card, so I hope they are holding enough reservations to satisfy the number of vouchers aboard. For 5 nights you should be OK. Just take care of it as soon as you can after boarding.
